Gastroenterite eosinofílica: divertículo duodenal intraluminal como fator predisponente? Eosinophilic gastroenteritis: Intraluminal duodenal diverticulum as a predisposing factor?
Jandira Lima,Marta Rebelo,Amparo Castellano,Joana Mota
Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare and heterogeneous disorder, with a variable clinical spectrum ranging between the presence of common gastrointestinal symptoms and occlusive pyloric or intestinal disease. It is characterized by inflammatory eosinophilic infiltration in at least one segment of the digestive tract and is probably underdiagnosed, as it poses some approach problems. Intraluminal duodenal diverticulum, a rare congenital malformation, which is usually found incidentally in radiological studies, is a ‘‘cul de sac’’ structure projecting into de duodenal lumen. We revise these two entities, and a possible relation between them, by discussing a case presenting with fever of unknown origin, with scarce and uncharacteristic symptoms.
Oral biopsy in dental practice
Mota-Ramírez,Amparo; Silvestre,Francisco Javier; Simó,Juan Manuel;
Medicina Oral, Patología Oral y Cirugía Bucal (Internet) , 2007,
Abstract: the conclusions drawn from the study of an oral biopsy are considered essential for the definitive diagnosis of diseases of the oral mucosa, and for the subsequent planning of appropriate treatment. although the obtainment of biopsies is widely used in all medical fields, the practice is not so widespread in dental practice - fundamentally because of a lack of awareness of the procedure among dental professionals. in this context, it must be taken into account that the early diagnosis of invasive oral malignancy may be critical for improving the patient prognosis. however, in some cases the results are adversely affected by incorrect manipulation of the biopsy material. the present study provides an update on the different biopsy sampling techniques and their application. such familiarization in turn will contribute to knowledge of the material and instruments required for correct biopsy performance in dentistry, as well as of the material required for correct sample storage and transport.

The aim of this work was to identify the nursing problems in the care of elderly patients (aged 65 and over) who receive a kidney graft during their time in hospital for transplant. To do so, the clinical histories of the years 2005 and 2006 were analysed retrospectively, and the nursing problems were coded using NANDA taxonomy. Descriptive statistics were used to show the frequency and duration of the problems, and the presence of medical complications. The number of blood transfusions, number of cases of post-transplant haemodialysis and the number of patients who required continuous vesicular irrigation to treat intravesicular clotting problems were also recorded. The most frequent nursing problems are: risk of infection, risk of perioperatory injury, excess of liquids, deterioration of skin integrity, deterioration of physical mobility, insuffi cient self-care, deficient knowledge, and deterioration of sleep pattern. The problems which were most frequently unresolved upon discharge of the patient from hospital were deterioration of urinary
Psychosis and Silent Celiac Disease in a Down Syndrome Adolescent: A Case Report
Amparo Morant
Case Reports in Pediatrics , 2011, DOI: 10.1155/2011/970143
Abstract: Celiac disease is an autoimmune systemic disorder. It presents gastrointestinal and nongastrointestinal manifestations as well as associated conditions. We report a 16-year-old Down syndrome girl who presented psychosis symptomatology, and she was diagnosed as having silent celiac disease. Olanzapine treatment and gluten-free diet were satisfactory. It is necessary to consider celiac disease in Down syndrome patients with psychiatric symptoms, mainly psychotic symptomatology.
Vega,Amparo;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2010,
Abstract: the central perspectives and concepts of the aesthetics and politics of the philosophy of jean-fran?oise lyotard are presented in this text. the emergence from the war leads lyotard, starting with his first texts in 1948, to question politics, ask for a critical philosophy (phenomenology, 1954), and a later distance himself from philosophy during the years in which he became a militant with the marxist group which published the magazine socialism or barbarism, with which he remains until 1966. why philosophyze (1964) captures the aforementioned experience and defines the orientation and research themes of later investigations of critical philosophy from which aesthetics, politics, and the concepts that relate these two areas are given thought. a first critical perspective of aesthetics focuses on the relationship between desire and arts, and between desire and the critical discourse, starting with discourse, figure (1971) and ending with libidinal economy (1974). this study ends with a nietzsche-like aesthetic and politic described as paths adrift with the strongest of libidinal intensities. the evaluation of these practices in libidinal economy and the devices of capitalism, in particular, lead lyotard to change his perspective. from pragmatic analyses of the games of language in discourses, knowledge and tales, as well as the practices and institutions of advanced societies, the postmodern condition (1982-1985) integrates the aesthetic manner of reflexive judgement (kant) to the proposal of a postmodern "critical knowledge". the enthusiasm (1986) proposes a analogy of aesthetic and critical judgment applied to the political. due to the multiplication of languages and their heterogeneity, unsolvable conflicts arise which are analyzed by lyotard, mostly under the concept of diferend (the difference, 1983), the sublime in the postmodern explained to children, and the inhuman. in covering these issues, this text defines steps and analogous elements between critique, a
SEA Presidential address: Group connectivity and cooperation
Amparo Urbano
SERIEs , 2011, DOI: 10.1007/s13209-011-0066-3
Abstract: This lecture provides a modeling of “group connectivity” by proposing a generalization of the concept of a graph. This new approach not only captures binary relations between agents but also high-order relations among subsets of them. The model allows us to characterize the minimal structures of cooperation survival in a spatial Prisoners’ Dilemma game in a Moore neighborhood and helps explain the existence of persistent “islands of cooperation” in hostile environments. The dynamic behavior shows an increase in the fraction of cooperators relative to the standard spatial Prisoners’ Dilemma game.

The objective of this article is to provide an in-depth map of the personalised current awareness services (SP) offered by the Spanish mass media to their users, over the Internet. Likewise, there is a description of SPs created to meet the information needs of those using the system through the creation of user profiles which are a very important tool for achieving a service that matches the interests of those receiving the service. The field work carried out describes the main actors in the dissemination of Spanish current awareness services over the network, as well as presenting graphs and tables that reveal the current state of the art of this type of service.

La innovación, clave para la competitividad empresarial
Amparo Moraleda
Universia Business Review , 2004,
