Abstract: Phytochemicals presents in plants probably explain the various uses of plants for traditional medicine. Inthis study Kigelia Africana fruit was selected for assessing the level of various Phytochemicals, enzymaticand non- enzymatic antioxidants & antimicrobial activity. Fruits of the plant taken, dried, grind to powderand then aqueous and ethanolic extracts were prepared. Antimicrobial activity of these extracts was thenstudied using agar well plate method. Results of the study showed that aqueous extract of Kigelia Africanahave significant amount of phytochemicals & antioxidant enzymes so useful to prevent chronic diseasesrelated to oxidative stress in human body. Antimicrobial activity of aqueous extract was more than theethanolic extract.
Rapid and Reliable Method of High-Quality RNA Extraction from Diverse Plants  [PDF]

Abstract: The isolation of high quality RNA is a crucial technique in plant molecular biology. The quality of RNA determines the reliability of downstream process like real time PCR. In this paper, we reported a high quality RNA extraction protocol for a variety of plant species. Our protocol is time effective than traditional RNA extraction methods. The method takes only an hour to complete the procedure. Spectral measurement and electrophoresis were used to demonstrate RNA quality and quantity. The extracted RNA was further used for cDNA synthesis, expression analysis and copy number determination through Real Time PCR. The results indicate that RNA was of good quality and fit for real time PCR. This high throughput plant RNA extraction protocol can be used to isolate high quality RNA from diverse plants for real time PCR and other downstream applications.

Abstract: A planar phased-array antenna has been constructed from a 15x15 square grid of z-directed monopoles with a length of 0.475 λ, element spacing of 0.29 λ, average directivity of 20.0 dBi across all scan angles, an average H-plane HPBW of 37 degrees, an average E-plane HPBW of 23 degrees, and an efficiency of 99.6%. Two current distributions are tested: uniform and binomial. The binomial current distribution is selected to minimize the side lobe level.

Abstract:

Food contamination from natural or anthropogenic sources poses severe risks to human health. It is now largely accepted that continuous exposure to low doses of food Toxins such as mycotoxins, phycotoxins can be related to several chronic diseases, including some type of cancer and serious hormonal dysfunctions. Contemporary analytical methods have the sensitivity required for contamination detection and quantification, but direct application of these methods on real samples can be rarely performed because of matrix complexity. Thus, selective analytical methods, relying on intelligent functional materials are needed. Recent years have seen the increasing use of molecular imprinted polymers in contaminant analysis in food because these materials seem to be particularly suitable for applications where analyte selectivity is essential. It offers several advantages to the agrofood industry in areas such as analysis, sensoring, extraction, or preconcentration of components. It has the potential of becoming a tool for acquiring truly simple, rapid, and robust direct measurements.

An Efficient Approach to Genetic Algorithm for Task Scheduling in Cloud Computing Environment

Abstract: Cloud computing is recently a booming area and has been emerging as a commercial reality in the information technology domain. Cloud computing represents supplement, consumption and delivery model for IT services that are based on internet on pay as per usage basis. The scheduling of the cloud services to the consumers by service providers influences the cost benefit of this computing paradigm. In such a scenario, Tasks should be scheduled efficiently such that the execution cost and time can be reduced. In this paper, we proposed a meta-heuristic based scheduling, which minimizes execution time and execution cost as well. An improved genetic algorithm is developed by merging two existing scheduling algorithms for scheduling tasks taking into consideration their computational complexity and computing capacity of processing elements. Experimental results show that, under the heavy loads, the proposed algorithm exhibits a good performance.

Abstract: Reed Solomon codes are very efficient and can with stand the effect of various channel impairments such as noise, interference and fading. The structure of simple LFSR type encoder is complex. Its complexity can be reduced by reducing the complexity of GF(2m) field multipliers. Different methods of reducing complexity were studied in this paper.

Abstract: Wireless Communication is one of the popular areas of research these days. The Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs) is an infrastructureless network consisting of wireless mobile nodes. MANET is a selfconfiguring network and the topology of the network keeps on changing as the nodes move randomly and organize themselves in an arbitrarily manner. Many protocols have been proposed for such networks. One suchprotocol is Adhoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol. AODV is preferred because it minimizes the routing overhead than the other protocols and hence enhancing the performance of the network.In this paper, the performance analysis of AODV routing protocol is done on the basis of few performance metric parameters such as average end-to-end delay, throughput and packet delivery ratio. The simulation is done in MATLAB.

Abstract: This paper presents the comparison of Texture classification algorithms based on Gabor Wavelets. The focus of this paper is on feature extraction scheme for texture classification. The texture feature for an image can be classified using texture descriptors. In this paper we have used Homogeneous texture descriptor that uses Gabor Wavelets concept. For texture classification, we have used online texture database that is Brodatz’s database and three advanced well known classifiers: Support Vector Machine, K-nearest neighbor method and decision tree induction method. The results shows that classification using Support vector machines gives better results as compare to the other classifiers. It can accurately discriminate between a testing image data and training data.
