Time evolution of the classical and quantum mechanical versions of diffusive anharmonic oscillator: an example of Lie algebraic techniques

Physics , 2005, DOI: 10.1140/epjd/e2006-00278-8
Abstract: We present the general solutions for the classical and quantum dynamics of the anharmonic oscillator coupled to a purely diffusive environment. In both cases, these solutions are obtained by the application of the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff (BCH) formulas to expand the evolution operator in an ordered product of exponentials. Moreover, we obtain an expression for the Wigner function in the quantum version of the problem. We observe that the role played by diffusion is to reduce or to attenuate the the characteristic quantum effects yielded by the nonlinearity, as the appearance of coherent superpositions of quantum states (Schr\"{o}dinger cat states) and revivals.

Abstract: along the capitalism development, the conceptions of worker's health has changed, passing from the "preoccupation with the surviving of the body" to the "preoccupation with the worker's mental health". management of health has been incorporated to the new capitalist enterprising management forms, but in spite of that, the suffering of the worker goes on, expressed in physical manifestations like stress, and chronicle fatigue, burnout and dort. this essay tries to identify and analyze, through a case study, the existing contradictions about the organizational strategies adopted on mental health at work/labor, having as a reference the workers' perception. the results show that health programs are based in ad hoc and palliative interventions related to the control system of the organization, acting on the effects of work organization, and not based on a real preoccupation with the worker's health.

Saúde & Transforma??o Social , 2011,
Abstract: Death is a reality and a certainty for all, but in our society has become a taboo. This process occurred through the years with their transition from the family middle to the hospital context. In this new place new characters add themselves to meet and to face the experience of the death: the health professionals. This article aims to understand the perceptions and experiences of nursing students in front of the process of death and dying. The data collection was through a semi-structured interviews with students who attended the 8th Semester in a private institution on DF, 2010, the data collection happened after being approved by the Research Ethics Committee from the referred institution. The research was qualitative and whose six students testimonies were transcribed and analyzed based on content analysis, which ultimately resulted in four themes: I) Difficulty and denial of death; II) emotional management in the face of death and dying; III) Prepare for death and dying IV) Anxiety with the reality of future deaths. We conclude that graduating students feel unprepared to deal with death and dying process and tend to deny the situation. Besides, they point to the need for greater academic preparation about the subject in order to assist the individual self and acceptance.
Aspects of the competition between atom-field and field-environment couplings under the influence of an external source in dispersive Jaynes-Cummings model

Physics , 2002,
Abstract: We give a fully description of the dynamics of an atom dispersively coupled to a field mode in a dissipative environment fed by an external source. The competition between the unitary atom-field (which leads to entanglement) and the dissipative field-environment couplings are investigated in detail. We find the time evolution of the global atom-field system for any initial state and we show that atom-field steady state is at most classically correlated. For an initial state chosen, we evaluate the purity loss of the global system and of atomic and field subsystems as a function of time. We find that the source will tend to compensate for the dissipation of the field intensity and to accelerate decoherence of the global and atomic states. Moreover, we show that the degree of entanglement of the atom-field state, for the particular initial state chosen, can be completely quantified by concurrence. Analytical expression for time evolution of the concurrence is given.

Abstract: the ant dinoponera lucida (ponerinae), endemic of the atlantic rain forest (states of bahia, espírito santo and minas gerais), is included in the list of brazilian threatened species. we investigated aspects of its biology, particularly its behavior, to furnish arguments for a plan of management aiming the conservation of this species. five colonies collected at belmonte, bahia, were studied through the scan sampling method. the division of labor between workers seems to depend on the individual age (age polyethism) and was organized in two groups: workers taking care of the offspring (nurses) and foragers. the spermatheca analysis pointed out the occurrence of a single "gamergate" (worker that have the ovaries developed and its spermatheca functional, able to mate and lay fertilized eggs) per colony (monogyny). agonistic interactions included specialized behaviors, such as: gaster rubbing, antennal boxing, mandible bite and immobilization. these interactions were observed generally with a low frequency, but were more frequent in a colony with no gamergate. in colonies with a gamergate, this one does not participate in agonistic interactions. the understanding of reproduction mechanisms, as well as that of inter-individual relations, is extremely important for future management actions where any colony manipulation aiming at reinstallation or rehabilitation of a population needs this previous knowledge.

Abstract: the contamination of ecosystems with heavy metals is an important issue in current world and remediation technologies should be in according to environmental sustainability concept. bioemulsifier are promising agents to be used in metal removal and could be effective to many applications in environmental industries. the aims of this work was screening the potential production of bioemulsifier by microorganisms isolated from an oil contaminated mangrove, and evaluate cadmium and zinc removal potential of those strains from a hazardous industrial residue. from that, bioemulsifier-producing bacteria were isolated from urban mangrove sediments. four isolates were identified as microbacterium sp by 16s rrna analysis and were able to reduce up to 53.3% of culture medium surface tension (ts) when using glucose as carbon and energy source and 20.2% when sucrose was used. suspensions containing bioemulsifier produced by microbacterium sp. strains show to be able to remove cadmium and zinc from contaminated industrial residue, and its ability varied according carbon source. significant differences in metal removal were observed by all strains depending on the carbon source. when glucose was used, cd and zn removal varied from 17 to 41%, and 14 to 68%, respectively. however, when sucrose was used it was observed only 4 to a maximum of 15% of cd removal, and 4 to 17% of zn removal. when the same tests were performed after ethanol precipitation, the results were different: the percentages of removal of zn (7-27%) and cd (14-32%) were higher from sucrose cultures. this is the first report of heavy metals removal by bioemulsifier from microbacterium sp.

Abstract: this study focused on medical students' attitudes towards the physician-patient relationship, comparing two private brazilian medical schools, one with a traditional curriculum (tc) and the other with a problem-based learning (pbl) curriculum. attitudes were measured with the patient-practitioner orientation scale (ppos). 132 students from the pbl school and 142 from the tc school completed data collection. total ppos scores were 4.62 and 4.45 for the pbl and tc medical schools, respectively (p=0.002), meaning more patient-centered attitudes among the pbl medical students. among male students enrolled in the 10th semester, the total ppos score was significantly higher in the pbl school. in both schools, as compared to men, women showed more decision-sharing attitudes with patients. multivariate regression analysis showed that ppos results were only explained by the school variable. this study found more patient-centered attitudes in the pbl school, which could be attributed to the curriculum model, since this was the only basic difference between the two schools.
