Spain’s Commitment to Lebanon: a New Role for Spain in the Near East?
Amaia Goenaga Sánchez
Revista CIDOB d'Afers Internacionals , 2007,
Abstract: In summer 2006, Lebanon suffered the consequences of the open warfare between Israel and the Shi’ite organisation Hezbollah. Within this context, the Spanish government, together with the governments of some of its neighbouring countries, made an attempt to resolve the conflict. This commitment also became consolidated during the monthsfollowing the period of military conflict, and through three lines of action: a large-scale military contribution in the context of the UN Security Council’s Resolution 1701, the sending of economic aid to help rebuild the country and, finally, by intensifying politicalrelations with Lebanon. This shift in policy is significant if we bear in mind the previous weakness of relations between the two countries; however, we can see that this deployment of resources did not have so much to do with Lebanon itself as it did with Spain’s owninterests. In this sense, we can understand that the crisis has been turned into a platform for the practical application of the main lines that determine the socialist government’s external action.
Conhecimentos e atitudes dos pais, menores e professores em rela??o ao abuso sexual
Sánchez,Amaia del Campo;
Análise Psicológica , 2001,
Abstract: the object of the present paper was to study the knowledge and attitudes of parents, minors and teachers regarding sexual abuse, as a starting point for preparing programs for the prevention of the sexual abuse of children. the study was carried out with 113 minors aged between 8 and 13, 225 parents and 26 teachers. the results of our research reveal that both parents and teachers have very little information on the reality of child sexual abuse and maintain many false beliefs about this subject. for example, as regards the minors, most of them have heard of sexual abuse at some time, but their view of abuse is linked to violence where the aggressors are always strangers.

Abbreviations in nursing have also found a way for professional and quick communication. The main goals of this article, based on actual teaching-learning problems, is to provide some practical activities to give the learners opportunities to get acquainted with and practice abbreviations in an effective and communicative way, and to provide a glossary of the most frequently used abbreviations by nurses
Cultura organizacional: Desentra ando vericuetos
José Carlos Sánchez,Blanca Tejero,Amaia Yurrebaso,Ana Lanero
AIBR : Revista de Antropología Iberoamericana , 2006,
Abstract: The aim of this paper is double. First, it intents to review the main trends of the studies conducted on the concept of culture. These studies have been classified in three lines of research: a) transcultural b) intercultural interaction and c) multilicultural. In each of these lines the underlying concept of culture is different. Second, we focus in the micro level and we analyse the organization itself, and how culture it is understood in each level of analysis. There is a review of the main paradigms that support these different conceptions. In the micro level, the elements of the organizational culture are described in detail, as well as their function, their creation process and the consolidation of culture in organizations.
El consumo de fitosteroles un arma de doble filo?

Grasas y Aceites , 2004,
Abstract: Phytosterols are plant sterols structurally similar to cholesterol. The most common phytosterols are -sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol. They are present in many foods but mainly in nuts and vegetable oils. They compete with cholesterol absorption decreasing the cardiovascular risk. Recent studies have associated the intake of 0.63-3g/day of phytosterols with lowering serum cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels. The same decrease has been observed in apolipoprotein B. These results suggest that dietary phytosterols are useful for protection against cardiovascular disease. Because of this they have been incorporated in relatively high quantities into spreads and margarines. However, negative effects have also been reported. Among them, a significant decrease in the absorption of several lypophilic antioxidant compounds such as carotenoids and tocopherols, which may counterbalance the protective cardiovascular effect of phytosterols. In this paper the results of several selected studies relating phytosterol consumption and plasma levels of lipids, lipoproteins and antioxidants are reviewed. More studies are needed to establish if it is necessary to supplement with such antioxidant compounds the diet of people consuming phytosterols for therapeutical purposes.
Altered Peptidase Activities in Thyroid Neoplasia and Hyperplasia

Abstract: Background. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA), and thyroid nodular hyperplasia (TNH) are the most frequent diseases of the thyroid gland. Previous studies described the involvement of dipeptidyl-peptidase IV (DPPIV/CD26) in the development of thyroid neoplasia and proposed it as an additional tool in the diagnosis/prognosis of these diseases. However, very little is known about the involvement of other peptidases in neoplastic and hyperplastic processes of this gland. Methods. The catalytic activity of 10 peptidases in a series of 30 PTC, 10 FTA, and 14 TNH was measured fluorimetrically in tumour and nontumour adjacent tissues. Results. The activity of DPPIV/CD26 was markedly higher in PTC than in FTA, TNH, and nontumour tissues. Aspartyl aminopeptidase (AspAP), alanyl aminopeptidase (AlaAP), prolyl endopeptidase, pyroglutamyl peptidase I, and aminopeptidase B activities were significantly increased in thyroid neoplasms when compared to nontumour tissues. AspAP and AlaAP activities were also significantly higher in PTC than in FTA and TNH. Conclusions. These data suggest the involvement of DPPIV/CD26 and some cytosolic peptidases in the neoplastic development of PTC and FTA. Further studies will help to define the possible clinical usefulness of AlaAP and AspAP in the diagnosis/prognosis of thyroid neoplasms. 1. Introduction Solitary and multiple nodules of the thyroid gland are very common in clinical practice, with most of them being benign lesions, either thyroid nodular hyperplasia (TNH) or follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA). Roughly only 5% of thyroid nodules are malignant [1] and 70% of them are papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTC) [2]. The arrival of ultrasound examination to routine practice has discovered a large amount of nonpalpable and clinically silent thyroid nodules. TNH, FTA, and PTC can be distinguished from each other following well-established histopathologic criteria [3]. Interestingly, these lesions are able to be sampled with recognized diagnostic success by sonographically guided fine needle aspiration cytology [1] or by core biopsy [4]. TNH consists of multiple nodules of variable size composed of odd-shaped thyroid follicles with homogeneous bland cytology and partial encapsulation that may reverse and dissapear when the hormonal stimulus ceases. Thyroid hyperfunction is common. FTA usually appears as asymptomatic solitary nodules. This lesion is composed of small size follicles lying in a fibrous, sometimes edematous stroma and shows a well defined fibrous capsule. There is no evidence of vascular

Calculation of the Gravitational Constant G Using Electromagnetic Parameters  [PDF]
Jesús Sánchez
Journal of High Energy Physics, Gravitation and Cosmology (JHEPGC) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jhepgc.2017.31012
Abstract: In this paper, we will derive the following formula for the value of the gravitational constant G: \"\" (1). This equation has only 0.81% error compared to the common accepted value \"\" [1]. The parameters in the equation are the following: \"\" the fine structure constant, q the elementary charge, \"\" the mass of the electron, \"\" the permittivity of the free space, e the exponential function and \"\" the relation between a circumference and its diameter. Values attached: \"\" [2], \"\"</span
Calculation of the Fine-Structure Constant  [PDF]
Jesús Sánchez
Journal of High Energy Physics, Gravitation and Cosmology (JHEPGC) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jhepgc.2018.43029
Abstract: The fine-structure constant α [1] is a constant in physics that plays a fundamental role in the electromagnetic interaction. It is a dimensionless constant, defined as: \"\" (1) being q the elementary charge, ε0 the vacuum permittivity, h the Planck constant and c the speed of light in vacuum. The value shown in (1) is according CODATA 2014 [2]. In this paper, it will be explained that the fine-structure constant is one of the roots of the following equation: \"\" (2) being e the mathematical constant e (the base of the natural logarithm). One of the solutions of this equation is: \"\" (3) This means that it is equal to the CODATA value in nine decimal digits (or the seven most significant ones if you prefer). And therefore, the difference between both values is: \"\" (4) This coincidence is higher in orders of magnitude than the commonly accepted necessary to validate a theory towards experimentation. As the cosine function is periodical, the Equation (2) has infinite roots and could seem the coincidence is just by chance. But as it will be shown in the paper, the separation among the different solutions is sufficiently high to disregard this possibility. It will also be shown that another elegant way to show Equation (2) is the following (being i the imaginary unit): \"\" (5) having of course the same root (3). The possible meaning of this other representation (5) will be explained.
