Enxertia interespecífica de jabuticabeira: influência do tipo de garfo

Abstract: this research aimed to evaluate craft success and development of two grafted species of jabuticaba (plinia spp.) using different methods of grafting. a complete randomized experimental design was used with ten replicates, under a factorial scheme of 2x3 (species x diameter of stem cutting), and the experimental unit was composed by one plant. plinia trunciflora and plinia cauliflora were the scion species grafted on p. cauliflora by cleft grafting, using herbaceous cuttings (diameters smaller than 3mm), semi-woody cuttings of low caliber (diameter 3-5mm), and semi-woody cuttings of medium caliber (diameter 5-7mm). p. trunciflora presented the higher number of buddings but the length of buddings were 44% lower than p. cauliflora. budding percentage was not significantly different among studied species. the semi-wood cuttings of low caliber increased significantly the number of buddings and graft success when compared to herbaceous cuttings, not presenting significant difference when compared to semi-woody cuttings of medium caliber herbaceous cuttings.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to identify resistance sources to leaf rust in peach tree. three evaluations of leaf rust incidence and severity were performed in 1/15, 2/14 and 03/24 of 2005 in 17 genotypes; severity was evaluated in 2/23/2006, in 12 genotypes and in the 17 ones previously evaluated; incidence, severity and defoliation were evaluated in 1/28/2008, in the 29 evaluated genotypes and in 'conserva 803'; in 2/3/2008, lesions per leaf were determined in 12 genotypes. analysis of variance was performed for incidence, severity, and lesions per leaf, for each year, and means were compared by scott-knott test. pearson's correlation analyses were accomplished for incidence, severity, defoliation and lesion per leaf (2008). data for incidence, severity and defoliation (1/28/2008) and severity (2/23/2006) were submitted to multivariate analysis. 'olímpia' and 'cascata 1063' showed acceptable levels of resistance to leaf rust; no immunity to leaf rust was detected; however, differential efficiency of infection among genotypes was observed, which indicates that the resistance could be horizontal; the number of lesions per leaf could be used to classify peach genotypes reaction to leaf rust.
Armazenamento a vácuo prolonga a viabilidade de sementes de jabuticabeira

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate the viability of seeds of jabuticaba tree (plinia cauliflora) under different storage conditions. for this, two experiments were conducted. in the first was tested the viability of seeds stored under three different temperatures (room temperature, 12°c and 6°c) and storage periods (5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 days after seeds extraction). in the second experiment was tested the viability of seeds stored in polypropylene bags in vacuum with three conditions (with sterile water, with phosphate buffer ph 7.0 and in dry) and storage periods (5, 20, 35, 50 and 65 days after seeds extraction). under normal atmosphere, the seeds of jabuticaba tree kept viability for only five days, with higher emergence at room temperature (83.35%). seeds of jabuticaba tree totally lose viability with water content near 10%. seeds of jabuticaba tree stored in vacuum with phosphate buffer kept a reasonable viability (41.6%) up to 65 days of storage.

Abstract: O objetivo do presente trabalho foi verificar qual o meio de cultura e quais as condi es que deveriam ser utilizadas em testes de germina o in vitro do pólen de pitangueira (Eugenia uniflora), bem como verificar a possibilidade de armazenamento em freezer (-18°C). O pólen foi coletado de flores em estádio de bal o e logo após a antese, em duas popula es desta espécie, na Embrapa Clima Temperado, em Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. Os meios de cultura testados foram o padr o (testemunha) (10% de a úcar e 1% de ágar em água destilada) e este acrescido de duas concentra es de H3BO3 (0,65 mM e 1,3 mM).Foram testadas as temperaturas de incuba o de 20, 25 e 30oC. Cinco horas a 25°C, em meio de cultura básico, proporcionou as melhores médias de germina o in vitro. O boro n o influenciou a germina o média de pólen de pitangueira. O pólen apresentou grande perda de viabilidade após 105 dias de armazenamento em freezer. The objective of the present work was to check the best medium andconditions for in vitro germination of pollen of Surinam cherry (Eugenia uniflora). Possibility of storage in freezer was also studied. The pollen was collected from flowers at balloon stageand immediately after anthesis in two populations of this species at Embrapa Clima Temperado Research Center, Pelotas, of state Rio Grande do Sul , Brazil. The tested media were the standard (10% sugar, plus 1% agar dissolved in distilled water), and the addition of two H3BO3 concentrations (0.65 mM and 1.3 mM) to this medium. Incubationtemperatures of 20, 25 and 30oC were tested. The best germination percentage was achieved after five hours incubating at 25°C. Boron did not influence the pollen germination of Surinam cherry. The pollen lost viability after 105 days of storage in freezer.

Abstract: the passion fruit plant is among the main fruits cultivated in the country, being the sowing of seeds the predominant method in the production of seedlings. the aimed of this work was to evaluate the effect of the water ph of soaking and of the cracking of the seeds on the germination and initial development processes of the yellow passion fruit, cv. iac 277. the work was carried out at the department of plant science, of the federal university of vi?osa (mg), brazil. the treatments were constituted of cracking and no cracking seeds soaked for 24 hours into solution of distilled water at phs 3.0; 4.0; 5.0; 6.0 and 7.0. after, at the greenhouse, the seeds were sowed in plastic boxes being used as fine substrate washed sand. the experiment was designed in a completely randomized blocks, in a factorial 5 x 2 (ph of the solution x cracking of the seed), with four replications, where each plot constituted of 50 seeds. after 28 days of sowing, the following characteristics were evaluated: germination and survival percentages; emergence speed; total plantlet length; plantlet height; first root length and plantlet mass total drought. it was concluded that, ph values of the soaking solutions were favorable at the phs of 3.81 and 6.14, for no cracking and cracking seeds, respectively. the ph values of the soaking solutions did not influence on the initial development of the yellow passion fruit. the no cracking seeds presented the best results, not being recommended the cracking of the seeds for the germination and initial development processes of the yellow passion fruit.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the germination of seeds of 22 half-sib progenies and two cultivars of passiflora edulis sims f. flavicarpa degener and submit 6 of these genotypes to different times of soak. two experiments were carried out. the first experiment was set up on an entirely randomized design, with four repetitions, and each genotype was considered as a treatment. in the second experiment, the same experimental design was used, in a factorial 6x4 (genotype x time of soak), with four repetitions. in both experiments, each group of 50 seeds was considered as an experimental unit. in the first experiment, after 28 days, germination percentage and emergency speed were evaluated. after 45 days of survival the percentage, total plantlets and root length, plantlets height, number of leaves and total dry mass of plantlets were evaluated. in the second experiment, after 28 days, the same variables from the first experiment were evaluated, except survival percentage and number of leaves. the seed germination percentage and the emergency speed are not influenced by the different times of soak, but there is effect of plant genotype, indicating that these characteristics can be used for selection in genetic improvement.

Abstract: vegetative propagation by tip cutting can be influenced by factors such as collection time, cutting length, auxin concentration and cutting physiological status. the ornamental hibiscus (hibiscus sp.) is commercially propagated by cuttings. therefore, there is a need to study the influence of these factors on the rooting capacity of this specie. the aim of this work was to evaluate the iba effect, cutting length and collection time on hibiscus tip cutting propagation. the experiment was carried out in the plant production sector of the universidade tecnológica federal do paraná, campus dois vizinhos, dois vizinhos, pr (brazil). the experiment was arranged in a 3 x 2 x 2 factorial completely randomized block, (iba concentration x cutting length x collection time), with four replications, with each plot consisting of ten cuts. two collecttion times (june and september), two shoot cutting lengths (6 and 12 cm) and three iba concentrations (0; 1 and 2 g l-1) were tested. at the two collection times, after 77 days, the rooting percentage, number of shoots and roots per cutting and the length of the three largest primary adventitious roots were evaluated. based on the results, we can recommend the tip cutting propagation of the ornamental hibiscus from september on, using 12 cmlong tip cuttings and 1,5 g l-1 iba.
Chilling requirement for seed germination and phenological observations on peach cultivars Necessidade de frio para estratifica o das sementes e observa es fenológicas em cultivares de pessegueiro

Abstract: In subtropical climate areas, the models and methods proposed to evaluate the chilling requirement of temperate fruit crops often do not provide satisfactory results, thus calling for the development of alternative techniques. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlations between some phonological traits and chilling requirement for seed germination of 18 peach cultivars and one nectarine cultivar. Two experiments were installed separately for the correlation studies. In experiment 1, the phenological traits were observed in the field, while in experiment 2, the chilling requirement for 50 and 100% seed germination of each cultivar was assessed. The number of days for beginning of bloom (r = 0.70**, 0.61**) and full bloom (r = 0.72**, 0.76**) were both significantly correlated with the number of chilling units for 50% and 100% germination of seeds. The number of days for beginning of budding and dormancy break were both significantly correlated with the number of chilling units for 50% and 100% germination (r = 0.48*, 0.50*, respectively). However, the same significant effect for these phenological traits was not found between chilling units and 50% germination of seeds, as well as between chilling units and harvest dates. Em regi es de clima subtropical, os modelos e métodos propostos para avalia o da necessidade de frio das fruteiras de clima temperado n o apresentam, muitas vezes, resultados satisfatórios. Isto demonstra a necessidade do desenvolvimento de alternativas para se estimar a necessidade de frio dessas plantas. Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar as correla es entre os dados fenólogicos e a necessidade de frio das sementes de 18 cultivares de pessegueiro e um cultivar de nectarineira. Para realiza o dos estudos de correla o, foram realizados dois experimentos, separadamente, sendo o primeiro por acompanhamento das características fenológicas em campo e, o segundo, com o estudo da necessidade de frio acumulado, para germina o de 50 e de 100% das sementes, de cada cultivar. Houve correla o significativa entre o número de dias necessários para o início do florescimento (r = 0,70**, 0,55*) e plena flora o (r = 0,72**, 0,73**) e o número de unidades de frio acumulado, para germina o de 50 e de 100% das sementes estratificadas. O número de dias para o início da brota o e fim da dormência apresentou correla o significativa com o número de unidades de frio acumulado, para 50 e 100% de germina o (r = 0,48*, 0,50*, respectivamente). Abstract: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito de quatro substratos no crescimento inicial de pessegueiro cv. Campinas 1. O trabalho foi realizado no Departamento de Fitotecnia, da UFV. As sementes após a estratifica o foram semeadas em recipiente plástico (2 litros), sendo utilizados como substratos: Plantmaxò; Plantmaxò + Areia (1:2 v/v); Plantmaxò + Latossolo Vermelho (1:2 v/v) e Plantmaxò + Torta de Filtro de Baga o de Cana-de-A úcar (1:1 v/v). Foi utilizado o delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, com quatro repeti es, considerando-se como unidade experimental, cada cinco recipientes plásticos. Após 120 dias da semeadura, foram analisados ocomprimento total, o da parte aérea e de raiz, diametro do caule, massa da matéria da parte aérea e da raiz e número de ramifica es primárias dos porta-enxertos de pessegueiro. Concluiu-se que o substrato teve influência na forma o de porta-enxertos parapessegueiro, recomendando-se a utiliza o das misturas Plantmaxò + Latossolo Vermelho e Plantmaxò + Torta de Filtro de Baga o de Cana-de-A úcar. The study was carried out in the Department of Plant Science, at Vi osa Federal University,state of Minas Gerais (Brazil). After stratification, the seeds were sowed in plastic bags (2 liters), using as substrates: Plantmaxò; Plantmaxò + Sand (1:2 v/v); Plantmaxò + Red Latosol (1:2 v/v) and Plantmaxò + Filter Cake from Sugar Cane (1:1 v/v). The experimentwas designed in randomized blocks, with four replications, being each five plastic bags considered as pilot. After 120 days of sowing, the total length, height and root length, stem diameter, aerial part and root mass of thendry matter and, the primary ramification numberwere evaluated. The study concluded that the substrate affected the peach rootstocks production, recommending the use of the mixtures Plantmaxò + Red Latosol and Plantmaxò + Filter Cake from Sugar Cane.

Abstract: Com o objetivo de se avaliar a influencia do tamanho da semente na germinacao e desenvolvimento inicial da ¥Jabuticaba Sabara | (P. jabuticaba (Vell.) Berg), e ¥Jabuticaba de Cabinho | (P. peruviana var. Trunciflora), um experimento foi conduzido em casa-de- vegetacaocoberta com filme plastico e revestida pelas laterais com tela antiafideo. As sementes utilizadas foram extraidas e classificadas de acordo com seu tamanho em tres classes: > 8 mm, 6 a 8 mm e < 6 mm. As sementes, ja classificadas, foram semeadas em caixas plasticas contendo, em seu interior, substrato Plantmax ¥. O experimento foi instalado no delineamento inteiramente casualizado, num esquema fatorial 2 x 3 (especie x tamanho da semente), com quatro repeticoes,considerando-se como unidade experimental cada 50 sementes. Aos 46 dias da semeadura, avaliou-se: porcentagem de germinacao; numero de plantulas por semente; numero de folhas por plantula, comprimento de raiz e total das plantulas, altura da parte aerea das plantulas e indice de velocidade de emergencia. A germinacao e o desenvolvimento inicial da ¥Jabuticaba Sabara | e da ¥Jabuticaba de Cabinho | foram influenciados pelo tamanho das sementes, e as maiores (> 8 mm e 6 a 8 mm) sao de melhor qualidade do que as menores (< 6 mm). The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of seed size inthe germination and the initial growth of ¥Jabuticaba Sabara | (P. jabuticaba (Vell.) Berg), and ¥Jabuticaba de Cabinho | (P. peruviana var. Trunciflora). The work was carried out in a green house at the Universidade Federal de Vicosa (UFV), state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The seeds used were extracted and later classified in three classes according to size: > 8mm, 6 - 8 mm and < 6mm. The seeds already classified were sown in plastic boxes, containing Plantmax ¥ as substrate. The experiment was set in an entirely randomized experimental design, in a 2 x 3 factorial scheme (specie x seed size), with four replications, where each plot consisted of 50 seeds. After 46 days, the following were evaluated: germination percentage, number of plantlets/seed, number of leaves per plantlet, total plantlet length; plantlet height; root length; and speed emergence index. The germination and initial growth of ¥Jabuticaba Sabara | and ¥Jabuticaba de Cabinho | were influenced by seed size, with the best quality obtained with the larger seeds (> 8 mm and 6 V 8 mm).
