Abstract: The infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) causes a highly contagious disease, spread worldwide, leading to serious economic losses. Sometimes the disease is associated with other entities such as infectious bursal disease virus, Newcastle disease virus, Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Escherichia coli. The highly genetic variability of the virus has generated a large number of viral strains with different clinical presentations. The objective was to assess the dynamics of the virus antibodies in birds vaccinated and not vaccinated against IBV, hosted on a broiler farm where the agent was detected by RT-PCR in Fusagasuga, Colombia and vaccinated birds in semi-isolation conditions in Bogotá. To order this, 3 groups of birds (Ross 308) from 1 day of age (44 birds/group), which were vaccinated with a live attenuated virus strain Massachusetts H120, and the immune response was evaluated through the Elisa test. Since day 24 of age the birds showed a progressive decrease in antibody titers in all three groups, although in the vaccinated and unvaccinated birds kept at the farm were found higher levels of antibodies in the group of semi-isolation. Starting at day 28 in the birds housed in field, the antibodies titles rose slightly until the end of cycle. The slight increase in the level of antibodies may result from exposure to the virus vaccine generated a reversal of pathogenic viral persistence or a late exposure to field virus.

Abstract: the infectious bursal disease or gumboro disease is an immunosuppressive pathology of birds, which has great importance in the poultry industry due to large economic losses that it produces not only for its direct effect, but because of the susceptibility to secondary infections, interference with commercial vaccines, reducing the effective use of them. the disease is produced by the infectious bursal disease virus (ibdv), which is an rna genome birnavirus, with high capacity for mutation, so the agent is continually evolving. the pathology has three types of clinical presentation: a subclinical form, a mild or moderate clinical form and a severe clinical form. however, the type of manifestation is determined mainly by three factors: the age of birds at the time of infection, the type of strain or acting or genetic variability of it, and the immunity degree. in this article, we discuss each of these factors and their importance in the presentation of the disease. these elements are vital in order to establish effective prevention and control programs.

Abstract: poultry industry has become one of the most promising and fastest growing in colombia, within the context of a country whose best skills are in the agricultural sector. for this reason, programs currently being implemented to improve the quality of poultry products, with the aim not only to maintain the growth of the industry but to expand the frontiers to export. however, the poultry industry faces a great challenge to production level, because infectious diseases affecting birds continue to be the major headache of the sector, even over food and genetics. this article presents relevant elements concerning the poultry industry as well as official control infectious diseases and some infectious diseases that afflict more, emphasizing the importance of the intervention for managing and controlling such diseases.
Trips del suborden Terebrantia (Insecta: Thysanoptera) en la Sabana de Bogota Thrips of the suborder Terebrantia (Insecta: Thysanoptera) from the Bogota plateau

An inventory was conducted of the species pertaining to the suborder Terebrantia present in the Bogota plateau. The insects were collected in the field and taken to the laboratory for identification to species. A list was made of the species found in the Bogota plateau, including new records for Colombia, new altitude records, and some biological observations. New records of plant associations with different Thrips species are also mentioned. Seventy-nine species distributed in 23 genera and three families were identified for the Bogota plateau: of these. 43% are new records for Colombia.
Cultural-cognitive Dimension and Entrepreneurial Activity: A Cross-country Study
Claudia Alvarez,David Urbano
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between independence, risk taking, creativity, and entrepreneurial activity at the country level, in the light of institutional economics, concretely using the cultural-cognitive dimension. The main findings demonstrate through a regression model that risk taking and creativity have a positive and significant influence on entrepreneurship. Data were obtained from the World Values Survey, for the period 2005-2008, from a sample size of 42 countries. The study advances the literature by providing new information on the effect of environmental factors on entrepreneurial activity. Also, the research contributes to the definition of educational policies that promote favorable attitudes to risk taking and creativity, thereby increasing the number of potential entrepreneurs.
Claudia Alvarez,David Urbano

THE EUROPEAN FISCAL UNION. A SOLUTION TO SAVE THE EURO?
Sabau-Popa Diana Claudia
Annals of the University of Oradea : Economic Science , 2012,
Abstract: A monetary union with strong connections among banking systems but without a fiscal union may pose problems because the national governments may be tempted to increase inneficiently their public debts, which, in case of contagion, may have serious repercussions on other economies. One of the most widespread ideas among the political decision makers as well as among specialists is that in order to overcome the sovereign debts crisis, the Euro Area needs a fiscal integration which should double the monetary one. This article analyses the idea of fiscal integration in the Euro Area as a solution to overcome the sovereign debt crisis and save the euro. The situation has become critical for countries such as Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain. It will present as well the implications of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union signed on the 2nd of March 2012 by 25 EU member states.
