Effect of diffusion losses on the size growth of nanoparticles by coagulation
Alonso, M.
Revista de Metalurgia , 1998,
Abstract: The size growth rate of aerosol particles by Brownian coagulation is significantly reduced in the case of nanometer-sized particles, for which deposition losses are extremely high. A simplified model, assuming that the coagulation rate constant and the deposition loss rate constant are both independent of particle size, is proposed. The size growth rate reduction predicted by the model is in very good agreement with the experimental results.

E-Health Telecommunication Systems and Networks (ETSN) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/etsn.2013.24009
Abstract: A system that allows computer interaction by disabled people with very low mobility and who cannot use the standard procedure based on keyboard and mouse is presented. The development device uses the patient’s voluntary biomechanical signals, specifically, winkswhich constitute an ability that generally remains in this kind of patients—, as interface to control the computer. A prototype based on robust and low-cost elements has been built and its performance has been validated through real trials by 16 users without previous training. The system can be optimized after a learning period in order to be adapted to every user. Also, good results were obtained in a subjective satisfaction survey that was completed by the users after carrying out the test trials.
Gaceta Sanitaria , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0213-91112003000400006
Abstract: objective: currently there is a large imbalance between supply and demand for medical specialists in the spanish health system. the aim of this study was to demonstrate the possible effects of current policies of allocating vacancies for interns and residents as well as to describe several measures and alternative policies. methods: using the methodology of system dynamics, we designed a simulation model of the allocation process. based on the validated model, possible changes in the system through time in response to diverse allocation policies were simulated. specifically, changes in the accumulated number of graduates who over the years have remained without specialty, the number of unemployed specialists, and the imbalance between supply and demand in the period under consideration were observed. results: the results obtained from the simulation indicate that allocation policies such as the current one tends to reduce the accumulated number of graduates without specialty, due to the philosophy characterizing this policy, but that it considerably increases the number of unemployed specialists and aggravates the supply-demand imbalance. in the simulation, this tendency remained over time even though more restrictive measures in numerus clausus and retirement age were adopted. equally, a policy based on social needs and aware of delays in training would substantially contribute to eliminating unemployment among specialists and supply-demand imbalance over time. if such a policy were combined with the above-mentioned measures the results would be even better, more rapidly eliminating graduates without specialty, unemployed specialists, and supply-demand imbalances. conclusions: if the health administration continues with the current system of allocation of places, the present imbalance in supply and demand will become even worse. therefore, new and far-sighted measures and policies are required, as well as greater coordination between undergraduate and postgraduate
álvarez, Armando M. Alonso;
Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0047-20852007000300006
Abstract: objetive: there is an estimate of 11.2% of alcohol prevalence in brazil. the attempts of many alcoholics for abandoning the addiction result in failures and relapse. the number of relapse oscillates between 10 and 30%, designating different causes. the objective of the present research is to know the factors that favor relapses. methods: interviews and the questionnaires "relapse factors" and "reasons for drink" were applied, to 105 alcoholics of both sexes, with primary and typical alcoholism. results: initially, social demographics data are presented followed by a characterization of the information gotten in the interview and each questionnaire, which are integrated and submitted in discussion. conclusions: the main factors are: the social pressure, the interpersonal conflicts, the negative emotional states as well as the proper physiological and psychological dependence. in general way, they had presented a great amount of factors and reasons that simultaneously act favoring the relapse.
Mielolipomas adrenales bilaterales como hallazgo incidental
Alonso,G; Varsavsky,M;
Revista argentina de endocrinolog?-a y metabolismo , 2009,
Abstract: myelolipomas are rare, non-functioning, benign tumors composed of mature fat tissue and myeloid hematopoietic precursors that involve mainly the adrenal glands and rarely other extra-adrenal tissues. the clinical features are heterogeneous and there are reports of giant and bilateral myelolipomas. few tumors have been associated with endocrine dysfunction or retroperitoneal bleeding. with the development and wide-spread use of modern imaging techniques, this adrenal entity is sometimes found incidentally during radiology procedures for other reasons. we describe an unusual clinical presentation of asymptomatic bilateral myelolipomas incidentally discovered in abdominal x-rays.
The information on enterprises, not only reduces the risk on investments, but it reduces the information asymmetries and increases the transparency of the company for shareholders and investors.The codes of good governance and legislation emanating from these codes have imposed reporting requirements on large companies versus shareholders, primarily on organs and practices of corporate governance, thus acting as control systems to the problem of agency developing transparency, monitoring the value of the business and reduce the cost of agency.This paper will analyze whether the codes of good governance have contributed to look after the interests of shareholders, as we are doing and propose a model for development of e-government to permit verification of the recommendations of good governance and participation in social life to shareholders.

Alonso M.I.
Gaceta Sanitaria , 2003,
