LA INFLUENCIA DE UN PROGRAMA DE ACTIVIDAD FíSICA SOBRE PARáMETROS CORPORALES Y CARDIOVASCULARES EN MUJERES PREMENOPáUSICAS

Abstract: Durante el ciclo de la vida, la figura corporal de la mujer se modifica paulatinamente, pero al llegar la edad mediana, a consecuencia de la pérdida folicular de la función ovárica entre otros factores, se acentúan los cambios fisiológicos que pueden aumentar el riesgo para la salud y el bienestar. La androgenia, en asociación con la obesidad, aumenta el riesgo de padecer diabetes, hipertensión, dislipidemia, arterosclerosis, enfermedades cardiovasculares, colelitiasis, artrosis, artritis, carcinomas femeninos y otras patologías de la edad mediana. El ejercicio físico ha adquirido cada vez mayor importancia dentro de la terapéutica en el climaterio. Se han demostrado los efectos positivos del ejercicio sobre las enfermedades cardiovasculares y el mantenimiento del peso. Por todo ello, el estudio pretende conocer la influencia de un programa de actividad física de cinco meses de duración sobre factores de riesgo cardiovasculares como la hipertensión arterial y la composición corporal en mujeres premenopáusicas. Participaron 20 mujeres premenopáusicas, separadas en dos grupos de mujeres: menores de 35 a os (n=10), y mayores de 35 a os (n=10). Las valoraciones previas y al finalizar el programa fueron: valoración de la tensión arterial y de la composición corporal. Los resultados mostraron una reducción significativa en mayor medida en la tensión arterial diastólica y en la masa grasa en el grupo de mujeres mayores de 35 a os premenopáusicas. Por ello, practicar un programa de ejercicio físico basado en el aeróbic, clases de step y tonificación con mancuernas, mejora factores de riesgo cardiovasculares como la hipertensión arterial y la composición corporal en mujeres adultas mayores de 35 a os premenopáusicas.

Abstract: La relación entre ejercicio físico y estado de ánimo es cada vez más importante en las investigaciones. La mayoría informa de los beneficios del ejercicio sobre la salud física, y no sobre el estado de ánimo. Este estudio pretende conocer los cambios que provoca un programa de actividad física aeróbica sobre el estado de ánimo en mujeres premenopáusicas. Participaron 20 mujeres premenopáusicas, separadas en 2 grupos: menores de 35 a os (n=10) y mayores de 35 a os (n=10). Los sujetos fueron sometidos a una valoración del estado de ánimo antes y al final del programa. El programa de intervención duró 5 meses, con una frecuencia de 3 sesiones por semana y una duración de 60 minutos por sesión. La intensidad del ejercicio fue del 60 - 70% de la frecuencia cardíaca máxima de reserva. Los resultados indican mejoras en el vigor y en la angustia en mujeres mayores de 35 a os premenopáusicas, mientras que en las menores de 35 a os no hubo cambios significativos. El estudio concluye que un programa de actividad física aeróbica basado en la práctica de aeróbic, step y tonificación mejora el estado de ánimo de mujeres mayores de 35 a os premenopáusicas. The relationship between physical activity and psychological health has been stated in recent investigations. Nevertheless, most studies report the physical health benefits, but not the benefits on mood states. Therefore, this research tries to observe the changes on parameters of mood in premenopausal women after an aerobic training. The study included 20 premenopausal women, separated into two groups: younger than 35 years (n = 10) and over 35 years (n = 10). The experimental subjects underwent an assessment of mood before and after an aerobic training. A physical activity program was performed during 5 months, 3 days a week. Exercise sessions lasted 60 minutes and with an intensity between 60 to 70 % of reserve maximum heart rate. Results indicate improves the vigor and reduces the anxiety levels in over 35 years premenopausal women; in contrast, younger than 35 years caused no significant change. The conclusion of this study is that an aerobic exercise program based in aerobics, step and toning classes, improves the mood states in over 35 years premenopausal women.
Reducing the Energy Demand of Multi-Dwelling Units in a Mediterranean Climate Using Solar Protection Elements

Abstract: It is known that glazed openings are very important elements in the energetic behavior of buildings, especially in Mediterranean climates where there are many hours of solar radiation. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of solar protection on the energy demand of public housing structures in these climates. To this end, the reduction in energy demand achieved by fixed solar protectors in combination with mobile protectors (blinds) was quantified, including an evaluation of the influence of their geometry, dimensions, degree of openness, and the orientation of the opening. To analyze and quantify energetic demand, a block of public housing units in a neighborhood of Seville (latitude 37°23' N) was used as a model. This block is typical of public housing in the Mediterranean region. Simulated energetic models were created using DesignBuilder, achieving reductions in the annual energy demand from 10% to 27% according to the orientation chosen. The results and conclusions of the study are applicable to new construction, energetic rehabilitation projects, and/or the improvement of existing buildings.
Characterization of a proximal Sp1 response element in the mouse Dlk2 gene promoter

Abstract: The goal of this work was the characterization of Dlk2 mRNA, as well as the analysis of the mechanisms that control its basal transcription. First, we analyzed the Dlk2 transcripts expressed by several mouse cells lines and tissues, and mapped the transcription start site by 5' Rapid Amplification of cDNA Ends. In silico analysis revealed that Dlk2 possesses a TATA-less promoter containing minimal promoter elements associated with a CpG island, and sequences for Inr and DPE elements. Besides, it possesses six GC-boxes, considered as consensus sites for the transcription factor Sp1. Indeed, we report that Sp1 directly binds to the Dlk2 promoter, activates its transcription, and regulates its level of expression.Our results provide the first characterization of Dlk2 transcripts, map the location of the Dlk2 core promoter, and show the role of Sp1 as a key regulator of Dlk2 transcription, providing new insights into the molecular mechanisms that contribute to the expression of the Dlk2 gene.Dlk2 encodes for a transmembrane glycoprotein with six epidermal growth factor-like (EGF-like) motifs in the extracellular domain, a single transmembrane domain and a short intracellular tail. These features place DLK2 as a member of the EGF-like family of proteins, in which NOTCH receptors and their ligands are included [1]. The proteins of this family mediate protein-protein interactions through their EGF-like repeats, modulating cell fate differentiation in numerous cell types. DLK2 shares most of its structural features with DLK1, with the highest homology located at the EGF-like domains. Abstract: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the causative agent of human cervical cancer and has been associated with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma development. Although prophylactic vaccines have been developed, there is a need to develop new targeted therapies for individuals affected with malignant infected lesions in these locations, which must be tested in appropriate models. Cutaneous beta HPV types appear to be involved in skin carcinogenesis. Virus oncogenicity is partly achieved by inactivation of retinoblastoma protein family members by the viral E7 gene. Here we show that the E7 protein of cutaneous beta HPV5 binds pRb and promotes its degradation. In addition, we described an in vivo model of HPV-associated disease in which artificial human skin prepared using primary keratinocytes engineered to express the E7 protein is engrafted onto nude mice. Expression of E7 in the transplants was stably maintained for up to 6 months, inducing the appearance of lesions that, in the case of HPV16 E7, histologically resembled human anogenital lesions caused by oncogenic HPVs. Moreover, it was confirmed through biomarker expression analysis via immunodetection and/or quantitative PCR from mRNA and miRNA that the 16E7-modified engrafted skin shares molecular features with human HPV-associated pretumoral and tumoral lesions. Finally, our findings indicate a decrease of the in vitro capacity of HPV5 E7 to reduce pRb levels in vivo, possibly explaining the phenotypical differences when compared with 16E7-grafts. Our model seems to be a valuable platform for basic research into HPV oncogenesis and preclinical testing of HPV-associated antitumor therapies.

Abstract: This paper is presenting a model for a better prediction of long term job performance as seen by a Multinational Company from the West side of Romania (51 staff). This study is discussing a human resources procedure on recruiting assessment and its valid connection to the annual personnel evaluation individual scores, by analyzing archival data. Results conclude that age, gender, professional expertise, year of hiring, numeric and verbal abilities and interview score can predict job performance. Our hypothesis states that if we replace the classical weighted scoring algorithm with a fuzzy expert system, we will provide a better prediction of long term job performance.

Abstract: Para que el cuerpo de conocimiento de una profesión crezca y se fortalezca debe estar al día con los avances científicos y tecnológicos que surgen continuamente para incluirlos en el repertorio de recursos que usa para la investigación de problemas específicos de su saber. Recientemente el desciframiento del código genético y la secuenciación del genoma humano creó la base para el surgimiento de metodologías y técnicas en el área de la biología molecular, las cuales permitieron profundizar en el conocimiento de la estructura y función de los tejidos humanos y también mejoraron el entendimiento de los mecanismos por los cuales actúan formas de intervención usadas cotidianamente por profesionales en salud. La Fisioterapia utiliza modalidades físicas que interactúan con los tejidos corporales, por ello la biología molecular permite un mejor entendimiento de los efectos que las dichas modalidades generan en el tejido sobre el cual son aplicadas. Por tanto el objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre la necesidad de que el Fisioterapeuta se apropie del conocimiento en ésta área de las ciencias básicas, usarlo como herramienta para la solución de preguntas relevantes de su quehacer clínico y así contribuir de manera efectiva con la generación de nuevo conocimiento que promueva la práctica basada en la evidencia y fomente el crecimiento de la profesión.
