Hilvanando opuestos: lecturas identitarias a partir de la conformación de una comunidad mapuche en Lago Puelo, Provincia de Chubut
Tozzini,Alma;
Av?? , 2007,
Abstract: the supported increase in real - estate business in patagonia since the decade of 1990, has a strong impact in lake puelo on the claims to possession of the land of descendants of former settlers came to the region at the end of the nineteenth century. the following article proposes to analyse from a turnerian perspective, and starting from the recent conformation of a mapuche community in the area, how the struggles for possession of the land, the ethnic - national identity of the involved actors and the role played by the provincial and local state through its territorial politics are related to one another. to analyse these events in key of "social dramas" will allow us not only to understand the different stages that had been occurring in this centenarian struggle but also will provide us with a frame from which rethink, starting from the analysis of this small area, the "official" story of the identities of the people of the (andes) mountain chain.
Para onde foram os bebês? Em busca de uma Antropologia de bebês (e de seus cuidadores)
Gottlieb, Alma;
Psicologia USP , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642009000300002
Abstract: in much anthropological literature infants are frequently neglected as outside the scope of both the concept of culture and disciplinary methods. this article proposes six reasons for this exclusion of infants from anthropological discussion. these include the fieldworker’s own memories and parental status, the problematic question of agency in infants and their presumed dependence on others, their routine attached to women, their seeming inability to communicate, their inconvenient propensity to leak from a variety of orifices, and their apparently low quotient of rationality. yet investigation of how infants are conceived beyond the industrialized west can lead us to envision them far differently from how they are conceived in the west (including by anthropologists). confronting such comparative data suggests the desirability of considering infants as both relevant and beneficial to the anthropological endeavor.
Las representaciones de la religión en el espacio público entre los líderes religiosos minoritarios en México: Entre deseo de reconocimiento y exigencia de participación
Mancilla,Alma;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2011,
Abstract: this article examines the issue of religion in public space in mexico and its regulation by the state. in particular, it focuses on the views of minority-religion leaders. empirically driven, though with some theoretical reflections regarding the analysis of religion in public space, the article emphasizes the role of the state in both privatizing and opening up public space for religion. the subsequent section presents the mexican case. in particular, it presents the results of a series of interviews with minority religious leaders in mexico in order to understand how minority religious communities view the issue of religion in public space in mexico. in the context of growing religious pluralism, and what seems to be a mounting interest by contemporary states to include religion in their public agenda, this article strives to include the voices of religious leaders themselves.

Presence in a Three-Dimensional Test Environment: Benefit or Threat to Market Research?
Alma Berneburg
Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting , 2008,
Abstract: In market research, the adoption of interactive virtual reality-techniques could be expected to contain many advantages: artificial lab environments could be designed in a more realistic manner and the consideration of “time to the market”-factors could be improved. On the other hand, with an increasing degree of presence and the notional attendance in a simulated test environment, the market research task could fall prey to the tensing virtual reality adventure.In the following study a 3D-technique is empirically tested for its usability in market research. It will be shown that the interactive 3D-simulation is not biased by the immersion it generates and provides considerably better test results than 2D-stimuli do.

Alma Maldonado

Development of settlement systems: From ideas on centrality to dispersion
Alma Zavodnik
Urbani Izziv , 1998,
Abstract: The problem of settlement systems development includes spatial as well as temporal components. The method of responding to the questions of settlement systems’ development on the national and regional level of any country is becoming more and more complex. The core of the article presents cognition and comprehension of existing settlement patterns, the main purpose of these processes being the formulation of guidelines for their future development. Identification of particular settlement pattern elements, which are researched as spatial phenomena, are stressed (morphologic analysis of settlement patterns). Six different settlement patterns, selected from different European countries (Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Croatia), are presented for the purpose of comparison and additional argumentation. Some solutions for future development guidance of settlement systems’ in the growingly complex relations within developed societies have been presented in the conclusion.
