Abstract: Different combinations of essential oils from cinnamon, cloves, oregano, and thyme were evaluated in vitro for their bactericidal activity against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). The solutions containing cinnamon (0.03%), oregano (0.16%), and thyme (0.08%) (P1); and clove (0.08%), oregano (0.33%), and thyme (0.04%) (P2), exhibited high bactericidal activity, and were selected for use as preservatives in ground beef inoculated with ETEC and refrigerated. The two preservative solutions (P1 and P2) exhibited significant bactericidal action (p < 0.05) on ETEC, with ETEC reductions of 1.03 and of 0.87 LogUFC/g in the beef samples treated with P1 and P2, respectively. GC-MS analysis of the oil mixtures showed both preservatives to contain significant concentrations of carvacrol. Chromatic degradation was not observed in the samples treated with preservatives. Essential oil mixtures thus concocted are therefore potential preservative candidates in ground beef, as they are capable of controlling ETEC contamination while preserving the products’ coloration.

Abstract: in order to confirm the traditional use of baccharis trimera (less.) dc., asteraceae, for the reduction of weight, plant extracts were evaluated on the activity of pancreatic lipase (pl), an enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of triacylglycerols in the diet for its subsequent absorption. the aqueous and infused extracts did not show inhibitory activity on the pl, the ethanol inhibited 16% (66 ali/g) and methanol extract inhibited 78% (241 ali/g). the methanol extract of b. trimera (meb) was subjected to a wash with decreasing solvent polarity (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol) and only the methanol fraction inhibited the lipase by 72% (230 ali/g). we evaluated the meb and infused inhibitory activity on the enzymes α-amylase and α and β-glycosidases. the α-amylase was not inhibited by any of the extracts, the enzyme α-glucosidase was inhibited by both extracts in the same proportion (46.9±0.1) and β-glucosidase was inhibited by 73% by the methanol extract and 65% by the infused. we also evaluated the presence of anti-nutrients. we detected the presence of saponins, polyphenols and trypsin inhibitors in the two samples. tests performed in vivo can assess at which therapeutic concentration the presence of these anti-nutrients can be harmful to health.

Abstract: how can we draw up analysis of certain social reality dimensions which are generally treated, separately, either by the sociology of education and by the labor sociology? to answer this question, the work by lucie tanguy is examined. by proposing a critical analysis of a field of knowledge which is the object of debates and action plan speeches it is possible to overlook the tensions in which the professional education is the object. in general, professional education, either the one targeted to the formation of blue collar workers or the one targeted to the formation of technicians, is not known by the sociologists who study school education. the analysis allows us to break down certain myths about professional formation, among them the ones that refer to education as an instrument of social reproduction.

Teacher formation: the theory-practice relation A rela o teoria-prática na forma o do educador
Nadia Aparecida de Souza
Semina : Ciências Sociais e Humanas , 2001,
Abstract: It is the school’s duty to suggest new ways of producing and distributing knowledge oriented to new ways of understanding and acting in the world, leading to the development of an educational practice that deals with social practice. However, the teachers formation, favouring the theoretical dimension, is distant from the practice; enduring the theory-practice relation, makes it difficult, when not impossible to the teachers, the improve the capacity of reflecting upon their own participation in the process to, continuously and progressively, transform it. Therefore, it is necessary to promote a critical educational process, which not only allows the perfect relation between theory and educational practice but also overcomes the simple transmission of knowledge.
Renewable forms of Privatization of Education in Brazil: voluntary work and corporate social responsibility (CSR)
Silvana Aparecida de Souza
Educa??o : Teoria e Prática , 2009,
Abstract: This text brings conceptual search performed, which had to voluntary work in education, when connected to the actions called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It can be said that such actions fall as renewable forms of privatization of education, through theprecariousness of their supply and maintenance by the public, and that is the stimulus that each volunteer contributes to the maintenance of activity (education), legitimacy is ever more the idea that the government can not cope alone with all the responsibility. It follows therefore that this new form of privatization is done so indirectly, since the authorities did not formally abandon the responsibility for the financing and maintenanceof the public education system, but there is a partial sharing of responsibilities with the citizens in condition of volunteers, as most of actions and donations made by virtue of the shares of CSR does not involve investments by the companies, but are a result ofthe call or direct donation of staff / volunteers.
