Gest?o & Regionalidade , 2009,
Brazilian Family Farming Agriculture in the Biodiesel Production: A Portrait of Regional Possibilities  [PDF]
Arlindo Kamimura, Aline de Oliveira, Geraldo F. Burani
Low Carbon Economy (LCE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/lce.2011.21002
Abstract: Brazil is a country deeply labeled by economic and social contradictions when the distinct regions are placed in comparison. The living conditions of peasant vary greatly according to region where he lives. After the promulgation of the constitution of 1988 policies aimed to remedy these regional imbalances, mainly re- lated to rural people have been settled. In this sense, one of the governmental initiatives to lower this problem was the encouraging incentive program to cultivate castor beans and other crops by family farmers to produce biodiesel to share 50% of the mixture with mineral diesel in the proportion defined by law. The blend was initially 2% starting in 2006 and 5% until 2012. The Brazilian consumption of diesel oil in the 2006 was approximately 40 billions of liters in the transportation, agriculture and others sectors, so that a market of 800 millions of liters of biodiesel was suddenly created at attractive prices with total exemption from federal taxes. This paper analyzes what actually such market means in economic terms to various regions of Brazil. Two regions – North and Midwest still display a high degree of poverty for small farmers. The national biodiesel program may represent an interesting economical alternative for them.
Interaction experience for families who lives with their child's disease and hospitalization
Silveira, Aline Oliveira;Angelo, Margareth;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692006000600010
Abstract: starting from the research question about the meanings the family attributes to interactions experienced during their child's hospitalization, this study tried to understand the interaction experience of families in pediatric hospitals, as well to identify the interventions considered effective the family's perspective. symbolic interactionism was the theoretical framework that supported the data analysis process, and grounded theory was the methodological framework. six families with hospitalized children participated. the results allowed us to identify the phenomena "feeling secure to assume risks" and "feeling insecure to assume risks", representing the symbolic meanings attributed to relational contexts that emerge from interaction between families and health professionals. the identified concepts significantly contribute to achieve a better understanding of the family-centered care approach and provide a way to reflect on interaction and intervention with families in pediatric clinical care practice.

Oliveira, Aline Fernanda de;Sellitto, Miguel Afonso;
Produ??o , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65132010005000035
Abstract: this paper presents an analysis of influential factors in emergencies in the steam generator of a petrochemical facility. secondly, the paper aims to understand and situate the generator; to structure the conditions observed in abnormal situations; to understand how these conditions influence safety; and to propose guidelines in order to enhance it. the case study research method was applied using qualitative procedures. the main research technique was the focus group with operators, based on a four-section structured questionnaire: human reliability, alarms, occurrences registers and training. the findings consist of four guideline recommendations to improve safety: rationalization and automation of procedures, redesign of alarms, redesign of the logging and information system and an operational simulator.
A relevancia das células natural killer (NK) e killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR) no transplante de células-tronco hematopoéticas (TCTH)
Almeida-Oliveira, Aline;Diamond, Hilda R.;
Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-84842008000400017
Abstract: natural killer (nk) cells were identified over 30 years ago by their ability to kill cancer and virally infected cells without prior sensitization. for years the recognition mechanisms of target cells were unknown, until the 1990s when the "missing-self" hypothesis was proposed. according to this theory, although tolerant to normal autologous cells, nk cells can recognize and attack cells that have down-regulated human leukocyte antigen (hla) class i molecules. the discovery of killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (kir) that specifically recognize hla class i molecules corroborated this hypothesis. these new concepts point to the importance of studying kir in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (hsct). hla disparities between the donor and patient in hsct may be distinguished by nk cells leading to alloreactivity. even though there are some promising results, until now existing studies have not reached any consensus. here, we will review the relevance of nk cells and kir in the different types of hsc.

The love between opposites: otherness in conflict in “Orienta o”
Aline Maria Magalh?es de Oliveira
Via Litterae , 2010,
Abstract: Guimar es Rosa was a writer passionate about the difference, the different cultures and languages, valuing each one equally. His passion earned numerous foreign characters that are inserted in the sert o mineiro, arousing passion and conflict between the otherness. The short story "Orientation" brings an even more unusual situation, because it tells a story of love between extreme otherness: a Chinese and a mineira. We will show how living with the foreigner is difficult even when love is involved in the relationship and how the difference that attracts the couple is the same that moves them away at the end. In this story of love and disappointment, we will reflect on the situation of immigrants and see how the transculturator writer transits between the two cultures respecting the otherness.
