Revista médica de Chile , 2007, DOI: 10.4067/S0034-98872007000500004
Abstract: background: drug-eluting stents have been developed to reduce the rates of restenosis after coronary angioplasty. several studies have demonstrated that rapamycin eluting stents are reliable and effective. aim: to report the experience in our health centre with rapamycin-eluting stents. patients and methods: forty two stents with rapamicine were implanted to 32 diabetic patients, between june 2002 and december 2004. after the procedure, subjects were clinically followed-up for an average period of 19.9+9.9 months, evaluating functional capacity, angina pectoris, dyspnea, need for hospital admission, acute coronary events and cardiac death. in those subjects clinically suspected to have restenosis, a coronary angiography was performed. results: twenty-nine subjects (90.6%) remained asymptomatic, two subjects (6.3%) developed angina pectoris but restenosis was ruled out, and one subject (3.1%) died. conclusions: the use of rapamycin-eluting stents in these patients was safe and successful with no evidence of clinic restenosis. these positive results are similar to those reported in the diabetes study
Sexual Offender Subtyping: The Incest Offender Question
Lea H. Studer,A. Scott Aylwin
Sexual Offender Treatment , 2006,
Abstract: Aim/Background: Current wisdom in the risk assessment of sexual offenders is that incest offenders have a small chance of re-offending. Previous research has shown that re-offense rates even for untreated offenders who choose victims from within the family, range from 4-10%. Flowing from this belief are further assumptions that they are less dangerous and do not require intensive treatment, if they require any at all.Material/Methods: The paper summarizes the findings of two prior reports which examined a sample of in-patient child molesters attending treatment at the Phoenix Program. Results: Findings reveal a great deal of overlap between categories with incestuous offenders having numerous non-incestuous victims, and non-incestuous offenders also having incestuous victims. There was also a great deal of overlap between these two groups in terms of their erotic preference testing responses. This was the finding even when biologically related fathers were examined separately, and when exclusively incestuous fathers were considered. Conclusions: If there were a “pure” form of incest offender who poses little risk to other children, it is virtually impossible to discriminate who fits this category at the outset of treatment. Neither index offense nor erotic preference testing are very helpful in distinguishing this group from extrafamilial offenders. Beliefs about treatment requirements for incest offenders and their potential risk to victims outside their own family need to be reconsidered.

Abstract: Not available.
Puleo, Alicia H.
Isegoría , 2005,
Abstract: Environmental education is considered a key factor for the formation of a citizenry conscious of the need to move toward a sustainable society. Without attempting to offer a comprehensive explanation of all aspects of this issue, this article highlight, from the perspective of gender, the persistence of certain oppressive dualisms related to the paired concepts of Culture and Nature. Based on this analysis, the article proposes that certain values and attitudes that historically have been devalued and marginalized as feminine be integrated into a conceptualization of environmental education that takes up the challenges facing us in the twenty-first century.
Puleo, Alicia H.
Isegoría , 2003,
Abstract: It is not possible to refer to all aspects of such works as L’Histoire de l’érotisme or La Souveraineté within the bounds of this paper. Hence I shall try only the answer these questions: Does Bataille’s transgression morals, which regards Nietzsche and Sade as its genial forerunners, pertain to a going-on transformation of patriarchy? Does his extolment of violence and crime arise from a thought gender feature? Are mass culture and (often pseudo) elite culture driving belts through which such transgression morals get generalized nowadays? What is the relationship between explicit irrational violence and crime, which are present all through fiction works, and modern jurisprudence which aims at increasingly protect women’s right to safety and sexual freedom? In other words, does transgressive annihilation will hide a wish to sep archaic gender hierarchies?
Libertad, igualdad, sostenibilidad. Por un ecofeminismo ilustrado
Puleo, Alicia H.
Isegoría , 2008,
Abstract: This article presents the proposal of an enlightened Ecofeminism and defines it as an ethic-political thinking about human relations to Nature. It aims at ecojustice and sustainability, which are characterized through the criticism of prejudice, through the principles of equality and autonomy, and through the nominalist conceptualization of gender, intercultural dialogue and the sensible acceptance of science and technique. The enlightened Ecofeminism universalizes virtues such as caring for the human and non-human Nature, and defends a compassionate moral towards the radical finitude of the world.
