First publication of the summaries (regesta) of notarial Acts preserved in Archive of Sarno's Diocese. In the Introduction they are contextualized in the social, economic, and institutional environment of Sarno, one of the most important fortified Burgs, Counties and episcopal Sees in medieval Campania.
Julio Alfredo Franco Orozco
Eidos , 2006,
Puttini, Rodolfo Franco;Pereira Júnior, Alfredo;
Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73312007000300003
Abstract: we discuss the epistemology of the sciences of life and health elaborated by georges canguilhem. first we review his criticism to mechanicist concepts of normality and pathology, and his position regarding vitalism. we suggest that, when emphasizing the concept of "normativity of life", canguilhem goes beyond the dichotomy of mechanism and vitalism. we make a brief comparison of his concept of "normativity of life" with the contemporary concept of "self-organization" proposed by michel debrun, arguing that the emergency of the vital norm occurs on the second stage of the process of life self-organization and therefore such normativity does not have the vitalist connotation erroneously attributed to canguilhem.
Miranda Franco,Rafael; Casta Vélez,Alfredo;
Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S1020-49891997000800015
Abstract: for decades, malaria was a serious public health problem in puerto rico. in 1962, that country became the first tropical territory in the americas, and possibly in the world, to receive certification from who for having eradicated malaria and having declared itself free of the disease. this report chronicles the tremendous effort that was dedicated to the eradication campaign in puerto rico, which took place in the first part of this century.

Abstract: The main purpose of this work is to analyze convergence or divergence phenomena of labor productivity within the industries of Colombian regions as a result of the economy’s degree of openness in the period 1967-1998. To comply with the above, the econometric technique of panel data is used. The results show that Colombia seems to be a case in wich a clear convergence process, conditioned to the economy’s degree of openness, has happened.

TRATAMENTOS PRé-GERMINATIVOS EM SEMENTES DE Didymopanax morototoni (Aubl.) Dcne. et Planch
Elci Terezinha Henz Franco,Alfredo Guí Ferreira
Ciência Florestal , 2002,
Abstract: Didymopanax morototoni (Aubl.)

Abstract: geology, hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry play a crucial role in the evaluation of wells and cisterns for drinking water especially in municipalities like maní because in times of low rainfall has not been sustainable water resources. maní hydrogeological system is determined by interesting primary porosity reservoirs. however, given the inaccuracy and poor analysis that has been done to the aquifer is necessary to develop this study because the wells and cisterns were built in craft conditions without any professional and technical support. it′s important to emphasize that maní has no a sewer system, so the groundwater resources are highly vulnerable to contamination, which has been analyzed for the temporal and spatial evolution of the aquifer through piezometers maps in times of low and high precipitation. hydrogeochemistry evaluation becomes more important to confirm the possible hydraulic connections surface water - groundwater, identifying chemical conditions and their behavior in the deposits and geological formations from the pie de monte llanero. high po4 levels and the presence of as are mainly due to agricultural activities using large amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and insecticides.
Modelos explicativos em saúde coletiva: abordagem biopsicossocial e auto-organiza??o
Puttini, Rodolfo Franco;Pereira Junior, Alfredo;Oliveira, Luiz Roberto de;
Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73312010000300004
Abstract: the complexity of the health-disease process has elicited the postulation of a diversity of explanatory models. we make a brief review of the proposals, starting with the biomedical model derived from the 19th century medicine. this model influenced the approach on the natural history of disease, and the debate on epidemiologic models in the context of the latin-american social medicine. broadening the spectrum of the discussion, we introduce the idea of circular causality, proposed by theories of self-organizing systems. we argue that, in a transdisciplinary perspective, these explanatory models are not conflicting. a key notion to understand these classes of concomitant explanatory models is the "baldwin effect", describing a dialectic or coevolutionary relation between nature, social organization and culture.
Microanatomía de la arteria cerebral posterior

Revista chilena de neuro-psiquiatría , 2002, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-92272002000200007
Abstract: the posterior cerebral artery pertains to rear brain circulation and irrigates the lower areas of temporal and occipital lobes, as well as the thalamus, hippocampus and mesencephalon. it originates in the bifurcation of the basilar artery and goes around the mesencephalon to the quadrigeminal cistern, where it continues to the rear until it enters the cerebral parenchyma and divides into its terminal branches, the calcarine and parieto-occipital arteries. the aim of this study is to describe the different segments of the posterior cerebral artery (pca) in chileans and to analyze some anatomical differences found when compared with descriptions in international literature. twenty hemispheres analyzed were formalin fixed, and their arteries were injected with colored acrylic in order to be anatomized with 6x to 40x magnification using microanatomical techniques. the results were statistically analyzed. the pca and each of its branches are similar in path and morphology to those described by other authors. meaningful differences were found in segments' distribution in the arterial groups between right and left hemispheres. when compared with the zeal and rhoton (1) study, there are differences in the pcas' segment lengths, in the prevalence of 3 arterial groups and in the distribution of the arterial groups by origin segment. in 20% of the analyzed hemispheres, the terminal branches of the pca extended into the calcarine cissure.
