Abstract: Objetivo: Describir y analizar los resultados de la aplicación del cuestionario Perfil de Salud y Enfermedad Infantil, versión Adolescentes (CHIP A-E), en adolescentes escolarizados chilenos. Pacientes y Método: Se aplicó el cuestionario a una muestra de 531 adolescentes escolarizados de la ciudad de Antofagasta (249 hombres y 282 mujeres), con una media de edad de 15,44 a os. Se presentan las medias y deciles para cada dimensión y subdimensiones, separadas por sexo y rango de edad. Resultados: Los hombres presentan medias significativamente más elevadas a nivel de la satisfacción y resistencia (p < 0,01 y p < 0,05), las mujeres puntúan más alto en bienestar (p < 0,01). Por edad, los de 16 a 18 a os vs 13 a 15 a os puntúan significativamente más en bienestar (p < 0,001) y en resistencia (p < 0,05); y menos en riesgos y rendimiento (p < 0,05 y p < 0,05, respectivamente). Conclusión: Los resultados observados no difieren de lo encontrado en población espa ola excepto en bienestar, donde los varones obtienen puntajes menores y las mujeres superiores. Estos resultados servirán de patrón de comparación para futuros estudios longitudinales o intervencion en salud adolescente, así como de otras poblaciones. Objective: To describe and analyze values obtained from the application of the Child Health and Illness Profile-Adolescent Edition (CHIP-AE) in school chilean adolescents. Method: The questionnaire was applied to a sample of 531 school adolescents of Antofagasta (249 were men and 282 women), with a mean of age of 15.44 years. Means and deciles for each of the domains and subdomains of the instrument, separated by sex and range of age were calculated. Results: Men presented significantly highest median level of satisfaction and resistance (p < 0.01 y p < 0.05) and women highest score in welfare (p < 0.01). By ge 16 to 18 vs 13 to 15 years old group, had significantly highest scores in welfare and resistance (p < 0.001 and p < 0,05), and less in risk and performance (p < 0.05 and p < 0.05, respectively). Conclusion: Results are not different for spanish study, except on welfare were men obtained lower scores and women highest. These results can be use as comparison pattern in longitudinal studies and to compare with others populations or interventions studies in adolescent health.

Abstract: Con base en un dise o transversal, se evaluó la calidad de vida y su relación con factores biopsicosociales en 240 participantes, 120 de los cuales vivían con una patología médica crónica prevalente en Atención Primaria de Salud. El principal instrumento utilizado fue el WHOQoL-Bref de la OMS. Se encuentran como variables relacionados significativamente con la calidad de vida la edad, la satisfacción con la salud, el afecto positivo, la balanza de afectos, la satisfacción con la vida y la efectividad de la medicación y de manera inversa con el afecto negativo. No se encuentra relación entre la calidad de vida y el sexo, el apoyo social objetivo y el tiempo viviendo con la enfermedad.

Abstract: Se presenta una introducción a la ense anza universitaria en Chile a fin de enmarcar el desarrollo de las Universidades y las Escuelas de Psicología en el país, en el contexto de la acreditación universitaria. A continuación, se describen las principales fuentes públicas de financiamiento, seguidas por una breve descripción del recurso humano especializado y los postgrados existentes en Chile en Psicología. Finalmente se mencionan las líneas de investigación que declaran las diversas escuelas, como también la información disponible sobre publicaciones indexadas en Psicología.

Abstract: Background: The increase in elderly population demands the needfor new health measures that are reliable and valid. Aim: To compare the factor structure of the Quality ofLife Scale WHOQoL-Old ofthe World Health Organization with the three proposed abbreviated versions ofthe scale. Material and Methods: We performed confirmatory factor analysis on data collectedfrom 804 older people, aged 70 ± 6 years (66% females). Results: One of the unifactorial models that incorporate six questions had goodness offit values greater than 0.95 in the non-normed fit index and below .05 in the root-mean square error of approximation. Conclusions: The abbreviated version tested is a valid and reliable questionnaire to be used in Chilean older people.

Abstract: we evaluated the psychometric properties of the adapted version for chile of child health and illness profile - adolescent edition (chip-ae) in a sample of 527 adolescents from public and private institutions. internal consistency, seen as a factorial structure of the scale, and its ability to distinguish the groups were assessed. the findings confirmed the factorial structure of the original version. internal consistency of the dimensions ranged between .83 and .89. the instrument is able to discriminate between age groups and between healthy and unhealthy individuals. evidence allows proposing this instrument as a reliable measurement of public health assessment to measure adolescent's health in several domains.

Abstract: introduction: comprehensive assessment measures in non-diseased population, requires the study of quality of life and factors related to it. objective: to analyze the relationship between self-reports of parental competencies and quality of life. methods: 1,130 chilean children and young between 8 and 18 years of public, subsidized and private school, answered the quality of life questionnaire kidscreen-52 and the test for parenting skills ecpp-h. results: we found differences in quality of life and perceived parental competences by sex and type of school. parental involvement in scholar issues and parental control are linked to various domains of quality of life, independent of age. conclusion: parental involvement in school issues promotes academic success and is perceived by children as positive in their assessment of well being. this information can be used for possible contingency plans in order to improve quality of life of children and adolescents.

Abstract: background: type 2 diabetes mellitus may affect profoundly the quality oflife of patients. aim: to assess health related quality oflife among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. material ana methods: the diabetes quality oflife (dqol) questionnaire was applied to 296patients with diabetes mellitus aged 63 ± loyears (201 women) seen in primary health care centers. results: the concern about the future effects of diabetes was the worst evaluated domain. women perceived a lower health related quality oflife than men. there was an inverse correlation between age and satisfaction with treatment, concern about vocational, social and future effects of the disease. conclusions: type 2 diabetes affects health related quality of life, especially in some specific domains such as perception of the future.

Abstract: Introducción: La necesidad de incorporar medidas de evaluación integrales en población no enferma, amerita el estudio de la calidad de vida y factores relacionados a ésta. Objetivo: Bajo un dise o transversal, se describe y analiza la relación existente entre los auto-reportes de competencias parentales y calidad de vida. Método: Se evalúa a 1 130 ni os/as y adolescentes chilenos entre 8 y 18 a os de establecimientos públicos, subvencionados y privados, a través del cuestionario de Calidad de Vida KIDSCREEN-52 y el cuestionario de Competencias Parentales ECPP-h. Resultados: Se observan diferencias en las dimensiones de calidad de vida y en las competencias parentales percibidas dadas por el sexo y el tipo de establecimiento educacional. La implicancia escolar y el control parental se hallan vinculados a diversos dominios de la calidad de vida, independientemente del rango de edad. Conclusión: El involucramiento de los padres en asuntos escolares de ni os/as y adolescentes promueve el éxito escolar y es percibido por los menores como positivo en cuanto su evaluación de bienestar, aportando información que puede ser utilizada para posibles planes de intervención con el objeto de mejorar la calidad de vida de los ni os/as y adolescentes.
