Uribe Tirado,Alejandro;
Revista Interamericana de Bibliotecología , 2010,
Abstract: this article presents a structured analysis of the process currently being conducted by the universidad of antioquia to go from a traditional approach toward user education (library services) and digital literacy (acquisition of skills for the use of tic) to a philosophy and practice of informational literacy (alfin) as a means toward lifelong learning and the creation of knowledge. based on this case we review different document sources (diagnostics, research, publications, websites, intranets), we consider three areas (fields) of analysis which are useful as a diagnostic model for universities or educational institutions with respect to different components of alfin. those sources are: knowledge of specific social and organizational contexts, research-teaching processes, and learning processes. finally, this text includes a proposal for the ''categorization of universities and university departments, departments/schools of librarianship-documentation and information sciences according to their degree of alfin integration''. this is applied to the university of antioquia which serves as an example.

Uribe Tirado,Alejandro;
Revista Interamericana de Bibliotecología , 2007,
Abstract: this paper discusses ideas and proposals relating to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (competencies) in technology as an aid to the information and management training required of colombian librarians in light of the challenges of today’s society, and how our universities can integrate technology into their undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education. three fields of action are considered in the area of information and knowledge management: (1) organizations that facilitate access to information and knowledge supported in tic (modern information units, or u.i.); (2) organizations in the information sector in which the tics are both a product and a medium of operation, and (3) organizations of whatever sector that need to manage information and knowledge supported in tic. two key library functions are related to such management: (1) organization, standardization, and transfer, and (2) user education (public, clients, and/or readers), whether internal, mixed, or external— in any of these three fields of action mentioned above

LAS UNIDADES DE INFORMACIóN Y EMPRESAS INFORMATIVO-DOCUMENTALES QUE SE REQUIEREN HOY EN AMéRICA LATINA: UNA MIRADA DESDE LA GERENCIA Y EL MERCADEO CON RESPONSABILIDAD SOCIAL
Uribe Tirado,Alejandro;
Revista Interamericana de Bibliotecología , 2005,
Abstract: it is a reality in current-day latin american society that departments of information (ui) and information/documentation companies (eid) are applying, or beginning to apply, the principal concepts and tools of management and marketing toward developing an ?adequate? organizational performance. however, this reality is often undertaken in the organizational practice of the iu/eid and in the education of librarians as a course of inertia (if everyone is doing it, it must be good) and a collision course (to apply these concepts is to betray librarianship and the reason for being of libraries), both of which are equally detrimental. neither course of action leads to a critical adaptation of reality, to a reading of ?a sign of the times,? that are always found in an intermediate course, that may tend toward one side or the other, but depending previously and invariably on an analysis of the different contexts, not on fashions, impositions, fears, prejudices, and conceptual and disciplinary ignorance. therefore, this article attempts to present some of the multiple positions or courses of action in search of a non-dogmatic response to this question: what kind of departments of information and information/documentation companies are needed today in latin america? in so doing, we must keep in mind the situation of the latin american populace and its access to information, and the social responsibility that every organization must assume in an underdeveloped setting such as ours—which should be reflected in its mission and its plan of action.
La alfabetización informacional en las Universidades-IES peruanas: Visualización de los niveles de incorporación desde la información publicada en los sitios web de sus bibliotecas Information literacy in Peru Universities: Viewing levels of incorporation from the information published on the websites of their libraries
Alejandro Uribe Tirado
Biblios , 2012, DOI: 10.5195/biblios.2011.23
Abstract: Objetivo. Uribe Tirado, Alejandro
BiD : Textos Universitaris de Biblioteconomia i Documentació , 2010, DOI: 10.1344/105.000001549
Abstract: Objetivo. Aim. To analyse the presence of copyright and the legal aspects of academic and scientific information through different programs, courses and information literacy learning programs (ALFIN) in operation in selected universities around the world, in order to identify the trends and distinctive aspects of training in these areas and their relation to digital information. We also analyse the disposition of these university communities towards receiving training of this kind. -- Methodology. We carried out a documentary search to assess comp
