Abstract: the community visiting pass is the daily observation made by health workers to the persons hospitalized in polyclinics (or hospitals) in order to assess their health condition or clinical pattern progression so as to carry out the necessary instructions for their rehabilitation. it has become the basic-assisting-teaching-organizational method of medical specialties. in addition, it allows the gathering of all those persons who have to do with the treatment and the diagnosis around the patient (i.e. working basic group); thus, values such as humanism, ethics, moral, responsibility, and solidarity are confirmed through this mechanism. as a result, it constitutes a novel method to organize the teaching process in primary health care.

Abstract: El pase de visita en la comunidad es la observación diaria que se realiza a las personas ingresadas en policlínicos (u hospitales), para evaluar su estado de salud o la evolución de su cuadro clínico, a fin de efectuar las indicaciones necesarias para su rehabilitación, de manera que deviene la forma organizativa docente-asistencial básica de las especialidades médicas. Agrupa en torno al paciente a todos aquellos que participan en su diagnóstico y tratamiento (grupo básico de trabajo), de modo que a través de ese mecanismo se reafirman valores como el humanismo, la ética, la moral, la responsabilidad y la solidaridad; por consiguiente, constituye una forma novedosa para organizar la ense anza en la atención primaria de salud. The community visiting pass is the daily observation made by health workers to the persons hospitalized in polyclinics (or hospitals) in order to assess their health condition or clinical pattern progression so as to carry out the necessary instructions for their rehabilitation. Repercusión de la educación diabetológica brindada a familiares de pacientes diabéticos Impact of diabetes education on the family of diabetic patients

Abstract: Se efectuó una intervención comunitaria en 47 familias con pacientes diabéticos del Consejo Popular Sue o, perteneciente al Policlínico Docente "Armando García Aspurú" de Santiago de Cuba, desde enero del 2009 hasta febrero del 2010, con vistas a instruirles en algunos aspectos fundamentales relacionados con la diabetes mellitus. Antes y después de aplicadas las técnicas educativas en los familiares (durante 6 sesiones de trabajo), se les realizó una encuesta, y luego de 6 meses se entrevistó a los afectados. La información fue procesada de manera computarizada y se emplearon el porcentaje y el test de Mc Nemar como medidas de resumen y comparación, respectivamente. Posterior a la instrucción diabetológica, se obtuvo un incremento del apoyo familiar, lo cual favorecería el logro de una mejor atención a estos pacientes y un mayor control de la enfermedad. The information was computerized and the percentage and the McNemar's test as summary measures and comparison were used respectively. After diabetes education there was an increase of family support, which would encourage the achievement of better care for these patients and a greater control of the disease.
El juego como técnica de intervención en el autocontrol del paciente diabético

Abstract: an intervention study of the diabetic population over 15 from the working basic group no. 2 of the municipal polyclinic in santiago de cuba was conducted from november, 1993 to november, 1995, aimed at increasing the level of knowledge of these patients as regards the treatment and control of their disease by means of health education techniques. the percentages of different variables analyzed were calculated and test of statistical significance were applied for the validation of the results. there was a predominance of the female sex (statistically significant) and of the age group 55-64. in more than half of the patients the disease appeated among those aged 45 and over. it was proved that at the beginning most of the patients had very little information about their disease, treatment and self-control, but that it was also possible to improve their knowledge and to modify their behaviour by using the role playing educational techniques, among others

Abstract: Se realizó un estudio de intervención en la población diabética mayor de 15 a os, perteneciente al Grupo Básico de Trabajo No.2 del Policlínico Municipal de Santiago de Cuba, desde el 15 de noviembre de 1993 hasta igual fecha de 1995, con el objetivo de elevar el nivel de conocimiento de dichos pacientes acerca del tratamiento y control de su enfermedad por medio de técnicas de educación para la salud. Se calcularon los porcentajes de las distintas variables analizadas y se aplicaron pruebas de significación estadística para la validación de los resultados. Hubo predominio del sexo femenino (estadísticamente significativo) y del grupo etáreo de 55 a 64 a os y en más de la mitad de los pacientes la enfermedad se presentó a partir de los 45 a os. Abstract: Se realizó un estudio experimental, del tipo intervención comunitaria, que incluyó a 12 cuidadoras de pacientes con demencia que pertenecían al Policlínico “Armando García” de Santiago de Cuba, en el periodo del 1 de septiembre del 2005 al 30 de igual mes del 2006. Los cuidadores fueron seleccionados por un muestreo no probabilístico intencional por juicio en el que se incluyeron aquellos que vivían más próximos al local donde se realizó la instrucción (consultorio 12), que tuvieran otro familiar o cuidador para quedarse con el paciente en el horario de la intervención, que no tuvieran limitaciones físicas o mentales que dificultaran su asistencia o aprendizaje y que estuvieran dispuestos a participar en el estudio una vez explicadas las características del mismo y los beneficios que reportarían para él y su paciente, así como que se mantuvieran sin ausencias durante la intervención. Se utilizó la prueba de Mc Nemar como método estadístico y el porcentaje como medida de resumen. Entre los resultados más relevantes puede decirse que predominaban los viejos-viejos en el cuidado de sus familiares, mujeres con nivel escolar medio y alto que conocían bastante bien qué es la demencia y sus síntomas, pero desconocían algunas complicaciones y medidas contra el estrés y cuidado del enfermo. The Mc Nemar test was used as a statistical method, and the percent as a summary measure. Among the most outstanding results the elderly prevailed in caring their relatives, women with middle and higher school level that knew well about dementia and its symptoms, but they ignored some complications and measures against the stress and care of the patient.

Abstract: Se llevó a cabo una intervención comunitaria que incluyó a 50 madres de preescolares y escolares con riesgo de desnutrición, del Consejo Popular Vista Alegre, perteneciente al Policlínico Comunitario “Armando García Aspurú” de Santiago de Cuba, desde septiembre del 2005 hasta igual mes del 2006, con vista a modificar el nivel de conocimientos sobre algunos hábitos alimentarios. Se utilizó el porcentaje como medida de resumen, la prueba de Ji al cuadrado para la validación estadística y el test de Mc Nemar como medida de comparación. Se logró elevar considerablemente el conocimiento de las progenitoras sobre hábitos alimentarios para mejorar la evaluación nutricional en el grupo de ni os estudiados. A community intervention was carried out that included 50 mothers of preschool and school children at risk of malnutrition, of the Vista Alegre People's Council, belonging to the "Armando García Aspurú" Community Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, from September, 2005 to September, 2006, aimed at modifying the level of knowledge on some dietary patterns. The percentage was used as summary measure, the X2 test for the statistical validation and the Mc Nemar test as comparison measure. It was possible to elevate the knowledge of the progenitors considerably on dietary patterns to improve the nutritional evaluation in the group of children studied.
La historia clínica: un documento básico para el personal médico The medical record: a basic document for the medical staff

Abstract: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica sobre la historia clínica, justificada por el deterioro observado en la confección de muchos de estos expedientes, presumiblemente atribuible al desconocimiento de sus funciones, tipos, beneficios o perjuicios derivados de un contenido incompleto del documento, teniendo en cuenta que su adecuada elaboración permite al personal médico obtener los datos pertinentes sobre signos vitales, pruebas indicadas, esquemas terapéuticos, evolución u otras importantes informaciones sobre el estado de salud y la calidad de vida de los pacientes. A literature search on the medical record was carried out , justified by the impairment observed in making many of these files, presumably attributable to the ignorance of their functions, types, benefits or damages derivative of an incomplete content of the document, keeping in mind that their appropriate elaboration allows the medical staff to obtain the pertinent data on vital signs, prescribed tests, therapeutic schemes, clinical course or other important informations on the health state and the life quality of the patients.
