Abstract: we made a comparative study between two constructivists didactic design, for teaching the theme heat in students of natural sciences careers. one with a integrated science focus and another with a non integrator focus. in the first design the student could build his own understanding, by solving problematical situations related to the biology and the natural environment, that allows him to analyze how are related the involucrated concepts, while in the second he build his understanding by solving physics but non biological problematic situations. we concluded that the first design allows to build in the students an cognitive structure of integrated type, wath makes it easier for them to internalize and transfer the physical concepts to problems of his specialty.

Abstract: Background: Celiac disease (CD) is an immune-mediated enteropathy triggered by the ingestion of gluten in genetically susceptible individuals. Its prevalence in Europe and the USA is 0.5 to 1%. Aim: To analyze epidemiological aspects and degree of compliance with gluten-free diet (GFD) among Chilean individuals with CD. Material and Methods: Subjects with confirmed or suspected CD were invited to answer an online survey published on the web at www.fundacionconvivir.cl. The answers were reinforced with a telephone interview. Results: The survey was answered by 1212 subjects (79% females). Median age at diagnosis was 25.8 years (range 1 to 84 years), with a bimodal curve with two peaks at less than 3 years and at 20 to 40 years of age. The diagnosis was made only by serologic markers in 9%, only by intestinal biopsy in 17.5%, and by a combination of both methods in 70%o. Conditions associated with CD were reported by 30%> of subjects and 20%> had relatives with CD. The GFD was strictly adhered to by 70%>, occasionally by 27%> and never by 3%>. Seventy five percent of subjects with a strict adherence to GFD had a favorable clinical response compared with 42%> of those with incomplete or lack of adherence (odds ratio 4.0, 95%> confidence intervals 2.8-5.7p < 0.01). Conclusions: In 30% of respondents, the diagnosis of CD was not confirmed according to international guidelines that require serology and duodenal biopsy. One third of subjects recognized a poor compliance with GFD. Those with a strict adherence to it had a more favorable clinical course. However, 25%> did not experience a clinical improvement despite a strict GFD, a finding which requires further study.

Abstract:

The sludge paper of the industry treated with probiotics in solid state fermentation (SSF) could be used as ingredient in rations for animal feeding. This study assessed the effect of four probiotic (Prozoot15?) levels (PT) on chemical and fermentative characteristics in SSF of the paper sludge (PS) at controlled temperature (30°C) in laboratory scale. The tested treatments (T) were: T1 (0% PS), T2 (50 g/kg PS), T3 (100 g/kg PS) and T4 (150 g/kg PS), which were fermented at 0, 24, 48 and 72 h, according to a completely randomized design, in a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement with six repetitions per sampling. All treatments included (g/kg DM) 300 molasses, 15 urea, 20 ammonium sulfate, 9 calcium carbonate and 5 of vitamin and mineral premix, plus the PS which was substituted by the PT at 0, 50, 100 and 150 g/kg DM. The results showed a decrease in pH in all treatments at 24 h; however the lowest pH was at 72 h of fermentation. At 72 h of fermentation, the PT addition in T4 increased crude protein, true protein and yeast counts (P < 0.05), and decreased pH (P < 0.05). In all fermentation time, the PT addition increased ether extract, lactic acid and ammonia nitrogen (P < 0.05) and decreased dry matter, ash, NDF and ADF (P < 0.05). It was concluded that the addition of 150 g/kg of PT in SSF of paper sludge improves crude and true protein, ether extract, lactic acid, and ammonia. This treatment may have potential use in animal feeding.

The personality traits, the psychopathological profile, the psychosocial aspects and the knowledge about the illness were studied in 19 adult hemophilic patients who had been psychologically evaluated when they were children. Sixteen personality factors test, Minessota′s Personality Many-Sided Inventory, a psychosocial interview and a disease knowledge survey were used in this study. The subjects can be described as reserved, emotional and dependent. The psychopathological profile of this group corresponds to persons with depression, sadness, difficulties in expressing their feelings, unsteadiness and lack of love. 21% showed difficulties to integrate themselves to social activities. 52% are married. All of them have an educational level of 9th grade. 78% are active workers. All of them know very well the fundamental aspects of their disease. A more favorable psychosocial situation was observed in this group than that reported in this type of patients some decades ago

AUTOMATED SIGNATURE CREATOR FOR A SIGNATURE BASED INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM WITH NETWORK ATTACK DETECTION CAPABILITIES (PANCAKES)

International Journal of Cyber-Security and Digital Forensics , 2013,
Abstract: Signature-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) helps in maintaining the integrity of data in a network controlled environment. Unfortunately, this type of IDS depends on predetermined intrusion patterns that are manually created. If the signature database of the Signature-based IDS is not updated, network attacks just pass through this type of IDS without being noticed. To avoid this, an Anomaly-based IDS is used in order to countercheck if a network traffic that is not detected by Signature-based IDS is a true malicious traffic or not. In doing so, the Anomaly-based IDS might come up with several numbers of logs containing numerous network attacks which could possibly be a false positive. This is the reason why the Anomaly-based IDS is not perfect, it would readily alarm the system that a network traffic is an attack just because it is not on its baseline. In order to resolve the problem between these two IDSs, the goal is to correlate data between the logs of the Anomaly-based IDS and the packet that has been captured in order to determine if a network traffic is really malicious or not. With the supervision of a security expert, the malicious network traffic would be verified as malicious. Using machine learning, the researchers can identify which algorithm is better than the other algorithms in classifying if a certain network traffic is really malicious. Upon doing so, the creation of signatures would follow by basing the automated creation of signatures from the detected malicious traffic.
