Scientia Et Technica , 2007,
Guerra-López,José Rodolfo; Güida,Jorge Alberto; Della Védova,Carlos Omar; García,Roberto Ricardo;
Acta bioqu?-mica cl?-nica latinoamericana , 2008,
Abstract: this work confirms that infrared spectroscopy is a powerful technique to detect renal calculi components. the studied calculi are composed mainly of oxalate and phosphate mixture as well as oxalate mixture. special interest was centered in oxalate calculi because of the likely presence of different phases, which should be difficult to detect by other techniques. to improve the identification of the different phases present in calculi the second derivative spectra were used. the ftir spectroscopic together with the second derivative analysis allows the urologist to have a good method for calculi component determinations. consequently, in accordance with its composition correctly correlated with specific pathophysiologycal conditions it provides the urologist with important information about calculus treatment. the objective of this paper is to contribute to establish such relation.

Acta bioqu?-mica cl?-nica latinoamericana , 2008,
This work confirms that infrared spectroscopy is a powerful technique to detect renal calculi components.

Sba: Controle & Automa??o Sociedade Brasileira de Automatica , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-17592005000300009
Abstract: this paper describes a self-oscillating electronic ballast, having fixed switching frequency, to supply four independent fluorescent lamps, with high power factor. to provide the power factor correction it was studied the modifications of the valley-fill filter, presented in the literature, choosing one that meets the iec 61000-3-2 class c requirements, about the input current distortion. to drive the switches it was proposed a modification at the conventional self-oscillating driver, novel in the literature, making it independent on the load of the ballast. so, it is built up the prototype and showed the experimental results.

Abstract: this work determines the "in vitro" susceptibility to linezolid of 64 strains of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (mrsa), isolated from infectious osteoarticular processes, and it is compared with that of teicoplanin. one hundred per cent of the strains isolated were inhibited by linezolid in concentrations between 0.25 and 3 μg/ml, and by teicoplanin in concentrations of 0.38 to 2 μg/ml. linezolid mic50 was 0.75 μg/ml and that of teicoplanin was 1μg/ml. for both antimicrobials, mic90 was 1.5 μg/ml. the good "in vitro" evaluation of linezolid against mrsa and its excellent bio-availability when administered by the oral route makes it an attractive therapeutic option in the management of osteoarticular infections produced by mrsa. nevertheless the use in this indication has not been approved yet by the food and drug administration

Abstract: summary tourism is a high-growth sector due to its economic and social benefits, not only in the most advanced countries like those of the european union and north america, but also in colombia, where advantages are added because of its geographical position and natural resources. a specific example is the case of the municipalities of sopó and la calera, in the department of cundinamarca, which, due to their proximity to bogotá, their natural attractions, the support of mayors and the university of applied sciences and environmental u.d.c.a, have developed a knowledge of the tourism market, that made it possible to conform the design of a tourist corridor. for the design of this corridor, the identification of elements and components of tourism services was required and, a system of double entry matrices was established, which indicated the added values of the different tourism opportunities. afterwards, when confronting them with services, the goal was accomplished by defining the corridor with the most tourist attractions and complementary services. the meaning of a tourism corridor under these conditions helps to enhance the flow of visitors with processes that are consolidating through the development of products for tourism.

Abstract: summary to create an associative cooperative enterprise for the tourist corridor of the municipalities of sopo and la calera (cundinamarca-colombia), a legal and administrative model is proposed. for this purpose, the social necessities, the natural and cultural characteristics were taken into account, as well as the opportunity to sum up municipalities efforts, to the support of the private sector, in order to organize competitively the offer of tourism and ecotourism services. it was attempted not only to integrate the future confederates, but also merge them with the sub-regional fusion processes in order to maximize social, economic and environmental benefits at low cost. to achieve this target an exploratory research was conducted, gathering the data required for the description, analysis, assessment and subject discussion, leading to the conclusion that the establishment of a solidary economy enterprise is a feasible association project that would facilitate the fulfillment of the people needs as a development strategy.
Diagnóstico de Muerte

Abstract: this paper undertakes an analysis of the scientific criteria used in the diagnosis of death and underscores the importance of intellectual rigor in the definition of medical concepts, particularly regarding such a critical issue as the diagnosis of death. under the cardiorespiratory criterion, death is defined as ?the irreversible cessation of the functioning of an organism as a whole? and the tests used to confirm this criterion (negative life-signs) are sensitive and specific. in this case, cadaverous phenomena appear immediately following the diagnosis of death. on the other hand, doubts have arisen concerning the theoretical and the inner consistency of the criterion of brain death, since it does not satisfy the definition of ?the irreversible cessation of the functioning of an organism as a whole?, nor the requirement of ?total and irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brain stem?. there is evidence to the effect that the tests used to confirm this criterion are not specific enough. it is clear that brain death marks the beginning of a process that eventually ends in death, though death does not occur at that moment. from an ethical point of view, the conflict arises between the need to provide an unequivocal diagnosis of death and the possibility of saving a life through organ transplantation. the sensitive issue of brain death calls for a more thorough and in-depth discussion among physicians and the community at large (rev méd chile 2004; 132: 95-107).
