Effect of acrylic polymers on physical parameters of spheronized pellets using an aqueous coating system

Abstract: The aim of this study was to develop ambroxol hydrochloride sustained release pellets by an extrusion-spheronization technique and subsequent coating with acrylic polymers. Acrylic polymers like Eudragit RL 30 D, Eudragit RS 30 D and Eudragit NE 30 D were used as release retarding coating polymers. The release retarding capability of these polymers was also investigated. In each case, 10% polymer on dry basis was loaded. The flow property, surface roughness as well as the drug release behavior of the pellets was found to be the subject of types of polymers. About 35% drug was released at the first hour in 0.1N HCl media (pH 1.2) from Eudragit RL 30 D-coated pellets but from Eudragit RS 30 D and Eudragit NE 30 D-coated pellets, only 13.75 and 2.43% drug was released, respectively. In buffer media (pH 6.8), about 54% drug was released at the first hour from Eudragit RL 30 D-coated pellets but only 64% drug was released at 10 h. From Eudragit RL 30 D- and Eudragit NE 30 D-coated pellets only 7.28 and 1.14% drug was released at 1 h, respectively, but about 5.14 and 5.86 h was required for 50% drug release from these two polymers and about 80% drug was released at 10 h. The functional groups present in the polymeric films played a significant role on in vitro release kinetics of the drug from the coated pellets. Different kinetic models like zero order, first order and Higuchi were used for fitting the drug release pattern. The Higuchi model was the best fitted for ambroxol release from the coated pellets. The drug release mechanism was derived with Korsmeyer equation.
Formulation and evaluation of domperidone pellets prepared by powder layering technology

Abstract: The goal of the present study is to evaluate the influence of the formulation and operating conditions on pellet preparation by the pan technique. The effect of initial core weight on the physical parameters of pellets as well as to conduct stability study was also the goal of this study. For this domperidone maleate was selected as the model drug. Pellets were prepared by layering of powdered drug on sugar-based cores. Inert cores were intermittently treated with micronized drug powder and binding solution. This treatment led to the formation of multiple layers of drug particles around an inert core resulting in the production of pellets that can further be coated by different polymers to obtain modified release formulations. Scanning electron microscopy was employed to image the surface morphology of the prepared pellets. Drug loading efficiency, % yield, size, and shape uniformity of pellets were increased along with increasing the initial core weight. Drug content and dissolution study were performed by following HPLC and UV-Visible method. About 50% and 80% drug was released within 7.72 m and 13.66 m respectively in 0.1N HCl media (pH 1.2). Physical appearance of the prepared pellets, potency, moisture content, pellets size and shape, dissolution data, release rate constant, diffusion exponent (P< .05) over the stability period showed that the system is efficient for the production of highly stable formulations. This study also showed the good performance of the conventional coating pan system in obtaining instant release domperidone pellets prepared by the powder layering technique.

Abstract: The glomerulonephritis disease is characterized by inflammation of glomeruli or small blood vessels in the kidney that causes kidney diseases. The reason of glomerulonephritis disease is to deposit the anti-GBM auto antibody in the glomerular basement membrane. The type IV collagen is the main component of glomerular basement membrane that has α3 chain of type (IV) collagen of non-collagenous domain which contains N-terminal 7S domain, a triple helical collagenous domain and C-terminal non-collagenous glomerular domain (NC1). The amino terminal of α3 (IV) NC1 that induces the Experimental Autoimmuno Glomerulonephritis (EAG) in rat model has been identified. The recombinant rat α3 (IV) NC1 antigen has nine amino acid spans that are consistent with antibody or T cell epitope that induces in EAG. The research is carried out on the recombinant rat α3 (IV) NC1 production, purification, quantification, and characterization. The circulation of anti-GBM antibody in glomerular basement membrane can be measured by the ELISA assay. In addition, the recombinant rat antigen is secreted in HEK293 cell supernatant that is purified by Anti-FLAG M2 monoclonal IgG antibody affinity column and characterized and quantified by SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis and Western blotting techniques.
Hypoglycemic Effect Study of a Combination of Some Stipulated Spices in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Wistar Albino Rats along with Nutritional Value Evaluation  [PDF]

Abstract: The main purpose of the study was to reveal the hypoglycemic effect of a combination of some selected spices along with the evaluation of nutritional values. A sum of fourteen different types of spices at different percentages were taken into consideration to propel the research activities forward, viz; ginger, garlic, onion, red chili, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon, clove, coriander, fenugreek, black pepper, nigella, carom seed and cardamom. The healthy experimental wistar albino rats were made diabetic by injecting alloxan monohydrate intraperitoneally a dose of 150 mg/kg body weight. The rats of Group-D and Group-E were treated with the sample, mixed spices at a dose of 100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg body weight respectively with the lab diet while in case of Group-C, glibenclamide at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg body weight was introduced with the lab diet for a total period of 21 days where as for the same days span, Group-A and Group-B were continued feeding with only lab diet. Data suggest that the mixed spices of both doses applied in Group-D and Group-E had exerted effects significantly (p < 0.05) in lowering the blood glucose level. On 22nd day, in Group-D and Group-E, the FBG level was found to be reduced by around 40.66% and 41.18% respectively compared to their respective initial days where in Group-C, the reduction was around 51.90% in comparison to its initial day. Abstract:

This paper describes GPS Workstation, a general purpose navigation software which requires a low-cost GPS connected to the computer. It provides an integrated display of positioning data along with satellite positions, their signal strengths and data quality parameters. The software can be used for static point averaging of GPS data to get more precise positioning and real-time mapping of roads and tracks. It supports output of data in keyhole markup language (KML) as well as other formats for visualization of acquired data on Google Earth and geographic information systems. It can also be used to determine geo-referencing errors in Google Earth imagery for an area and can compensate the error by applying a constant X, Y shift. The software is available for distribution under the free software license.

Abstract: The Community broadcasting system is on the way to start in Bangladesh. The CR installation Operation and Broadcasting Policy-2008 has been announced on 12 March this year. The application for the permission of setting up community radio have been asked through advertisement since 18 March 2008.A total of 400 application form were sold and 178 applicants submitted to The Ministry of Information for the permission of the community radio set up, about 50 community radio station are expected to start soon in Bangladesh and then rest of the 66 station will get permission to start their CR station. Recently Bangladesh Government has approved the regulation of the community radio in Bangladesh To inform the general mass of the country, it has been published in the website of The Ministry of Information. Since long run media based NGOs along with other NGOs and private sector were trying their best to introduce CR in Bangladesh. They have started advocacy in the policy making level. Many studies have been conducted based on the experience of other South Asian country to make it fruitful and more pragmatic to the people of Bangladesh. Total 116 institutions are expected to get this opportunity for two years pilot phase. Initially some of them will start broadcasting their programs for four hours; gradually they have a plan to broadcast their programs for 24 hours depending on the needs and feasibility of the community people. At present the frequency will cover 17 km radius.

Abstract: ABSTRACT In the socio-economic context of Bangladesh, involvement of women in agriculture is very important. It would be easier to control rural-urban migration by engaging women in agricultural activities to a greater extent. Women play a vital role in agricultural production throughout the Bangladesh, making a significant contribution to the basic productivity of their communities. The paper argues that efforts to promote women in farming are confronted by challenges including poverty, misconception regarding education, training, farming etc. The paper also states that the utilization and development of distance education would effectively address the problem of education and training aimed at rural women.

Abstract: This paper presents a performance analysis of three categories of adaptive filtering algorithms in application of linear prediction. The classes of algorithms considered are Least-Mean-Square (LMS) based, Recursive Least-Squares (RLS) based and Lattice based adaptive filtering algorithms. The performances of the algorithms in each class are compared in terms of convergence behavior, execution time and filter length. The analysis determines the best converging algorithm from each class. Finally the best performing algorithm for adaptive linear prediction is selected.
A Novel Approach for Image Steganography in Spatial Domain

Abstract: This paper presents a new approach for hiding information in digital image in spatial domain. In this approach three bits of message is embedded in a pixel using Lucas number system but only one bit plane is allowed for alternation. The experimental results show that the proposed method has the larger capacity of embedding data, high peak signal to noise ratio compared to existing methods and is hardly detectable for steganolysis algorithm.
