e-BANGI : Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities , 2009,
Abstract: Aktiviti pembangunan menghasilkan kesan ke kawasan sekitarnya terutama dari segi pertambahan penduduk, peningkatan aktiviti ekonomi, penggunaan infrastruktur asas dan eksploitasi sumber.
Makanan Hantaran Dalam Perkahwinan Melayu Kelantan: Adat Dan Interpretasi
Aishah@Eshah Haji Mohamed,Sulong Mohamad,Haziyah Hussain
e-BANGI : Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities , 2010,
Abstract: Dalam perkahwinan Melayu Kelantan, adat menuntut supaya pengantin lelaki dan wanita bertukar-tukar pemberian pada hari perkahwinan.
Mengapa kami jadi begini? Konflik masyarakat Orang Seletar dan Pembangunan Iskandar, Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Hasan Mat Nor,Abd. Rahim Mohd Nor,Katiman Rostam,Aishah@Eshah Mohamed
Geografia : Malaysian Journal of Society and Space , 2009,
Consumer Perceptions of Islamic Insurance Companies in Brunei Darussalam

International Journal of Emerging Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: The takaful (Islamic insurance) industry has developed rapidly in Brunei Darussalam since its establishment in the early 1990s. It has emerged as an important component of the Islamic financial system in Brunei and competes with conventional insurance. Increases in total assets and gross total premium of takaful companies’ contributions were indicative of the public’s awareness and interest toward takaful products based on the profit-sharing approach, which is not offered by conventional insurance. The purpose of this paper is to examine the consumer perceptions of takaful companies in Brunei Darussalam. It focuses on select takaful products in order to investigate consumer perceptions. The paper provides an overview of Brunei’s takaful industry. A survey questionnaire was conducted to collect relevant and recent data on consumer perceptions relating to their respective takaful companies. The findings show that the most common problem encountered by takaful policyholders involves the claiming process. Some suggestions have been offered for improving the takaful industry performance in Brunei such as upgrading technology to foster delivery of services and upgrading staff skills by more training.

International Journal of Computer Science Issues , 2011,
Abstract: In the present paper, we propose a Neuroelectromagnetic Ontology Framework (NOF) for mining Event-related Potentials (ERP) patterns as well as the process. The aim for this research is to develop an infrastructure for mining, analysis and sharing the ERP domain ontologies. The outcome of this research is a Neuroelectromagnetic knowledge-based system. The framework has 5 stages: 1) Data pre-processing and preparation; 2) Data mining application; 3) Rule Comparison and Evaluation; 4) Association rules Post-processing 5) Domain Ontologies. In 5th stage a new set of hidden rules can be discovered base on comparing association rules by domain ontologies and expert rules.

Abstract: A qualitative research approach was adopted to gain a better understanding of the current perceptions and knowledge held by cancer patients. Twenty patients were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. A saturation point was reached after the 18th interview, and no new information emerged with the subsequent 2 interviews. All interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed by means of a standard content analysis framework. The majority of patients related the cause of their cancer to be God's will. Participants perceived conventional therapies as effective due to their scientific methods of preparations. A fear of side effects was main reasons given for delay in seeking treatment; however, perceptions were reported to change after receiving treatment when effective management to reduce the risk of side effects had been experienced. This study provides basic information about cancer patients' perceptions towards cancer and its treatment. These findings can help in the design of educational programs to enhance awareness and acceptances of cancer screening. Priorities for future research should focus on patients who refused the conventional therapies at any stage.Cancer is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated 7.6 million deaths due to cancer in the year 2005, a number expected to rise to 12 million deaths by the year 2030 [1]. Until 2001, Malaysia did not have a National Cancer Registry (NCR) to estimate the real incidence of cancer among Malaysians [2]. Evaluation of NCR reports published from 2002-2006 indicates that the number of new cancer cases among residents in Peninsular Malaysia has decreased from 26,089 to 21,773 [3,4]. However, after taking into account unregistered cases, the probability that a Malaysian will get cancer in his/her life time is 1 in 4 [3]. Despite the decline in new cases, presentations at an advanced stage are still on the rise [5]. Lifestyle changes such as lack of

Abstract: C-5-bromo-2-hydroxyphenylcalix[4]-2-methylresorcinarene ( I) was synthesized by cyclocondensation of 5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2-methylresorcinol in the presence of concentrated HCl. Compound I was characterized by infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic data. X-ray analysis showed that this compound crystallized in a triclinic system with space group of Pī, a = 15.9592(16)?, b = 16.9417(17)?, c = 17.0974(17)?, α = 68.656(3)°, β = 85.689(3)°, γ = 81.631(3)°, Z = 2 and V = 4258.6(7)? 3. The molecule adopts a chair (C 2h) conformation. The thermal properties and antioxidant activity were also investigated. It was strongly antiviral against HSV-1 and weakly antibacterial against Gram-positive bacteria. Cytotoxicity testing on Vero cells showed that it is non-toxic, with a CC 50 of more than 0.4 mg/mL.
Aquatic Ecosystem and Biodiversity: A Review  [PDF]
Sufia Irfan, Aishah Mohammed Motir Alatawi
Open Journal of Ecology (OJE) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/oje.2019.91001
Abstract: Aquatic ecosystems support a substantial source of the earth’s biological diversity. They are an essential reservoir and share an enormous proportion of earth’s biological productivity. Both aquatic resources and its biodiversity are interrelated to each other and they perform a myriad of functions and are valuable and essential for the sustainability of biotic communities. Aquatic biodiversity in both freshwater and marine environments are under continuous decline because of overexploitation of species, introduced exotic plant or animal, pollution sources from cities, industries and agricultural zones, loss and changes in ecological niche. Their conservation and management in the form of bio reserve points and bioregional management and worldwide monitoring are needed for the protection of the aquatic biodiversity. This review is presenting information on biodiversity in aquatic habitats and their resources, in marine and fresh water ecosystems, their importance conservation and restoration mechanisms.

International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2012, DOI: 10.3390/ijms13044632
Abstract: This paper reports the rapid melt quenching technique preparation for the new family of bismuth-lead germanate glass (BPG) systems in the form of (GeO 2) 60–(PbO) 40?x–(?Bi 2O 3) x where x = 0 to 40 mol%. Their densities with respect of Bi 2O 3 concentration were determined using Archimedes’ method with acetone as a floatation medium. The current experimental data are compared with those of bismuth lead borate (B 2O 3) 20–(PbO) 80?x–(Bi 2O 3) x. The elastic properties of BPG were studied using the ultrasonic pulse-echo technique where both longitudinal and transverse sound wave velocities have been measured in each glass samples at a frequency of 15 MHz and at room temperature. Experimental data shows that all the physical parameters of BPG including density and molar volume, both longitudinal and transverse velocities increase linearly with increasing of Bi 2O 3 content in the germanate glass network. Their elastic moduli such as longitudinal, shear and Young’s also increase linearly with addition of Bi 2O 3 but the bulk modulus did not. The Poisson’s ratio and fractal dimensionality are also found to vary linearly with the Bi 2O 3 concentration.
