Suely Aires
This article intends to follow the path of building the notion of object in relation to the démarche Lacanian, as well as locate elements of rapprochement with Winnicott's transitional object. For accomplish our purpose, we begin with the object definition as proposed by Freud - (1) as the correlate of drive; (2) as the correlate of love and (3) in relation to the subject - and indicates the Lacanian option of emphasize the dimension of language in a reading that focuses on Freud's theory and technique as a whole. In this context, Winnicott arises as an author that, proposing the concept of transitional object, allows Lacan's presentation of the distinction between the symbolic and imaginary records in relation to concepts of desire, demand and need while enabling the construction of a proper concept of object. One can consider that, in his formulations, Lacan does criticize the post-freudians for producing a deviation of the technique and doctrine of Freud in disregarding the subject's speech, favoring a practice of interpreting resistance. Winnicott is then greeted as a distinguished author, a post-Freudian psychoanalyst post that doesn't de

Gomes, Maria Carmen Aires;
Linguagem em (Dis)curso , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1518-76322010000200004
Abstract: the goal in this paper is to discuss the construction of the mediatic event from a socio-discursive view, and illustrate how the same event is instantiated in three distinct genres: the front page of weekly magazines, the summary of weekly magazines and one publicity piece, in order to analyze how the mediatized social action is constituted within those three discursive genres, all samples from the weekly magazine veja, from february 23rd, 1994. the discussion here carried out is based on the critical discursive studies by norman fairclough (2003), and on works on social semiotics, more specifically the grammar of the visual design, as coined by gunther kress and theo van leeuwen (1996), in addition to the studies on media proposed by patrick charaudeau (2006). the three genres mentioned recreate, by means of images and verbal texts, the narratives around the event, selecting specific information, generating specific discourses relative to the institutional context. thus, the genres do institutionalize the ways for the regularization of social action and interaction.
O corpo diplomático e o regime autoritário (1926-1974)
Oliveira,Pedro Aires;
Análise Social , 2006,
Abstract: this article seeks to describe one of the elite bodies in the portuguese state - diplomats - between 1926 and 1974. the first part describes the policies of republican governments towards the ministry of foreign affairs and the impact of the revolution of 28 may 1926 on the apparatus of diplomacy. the second part looks at how governments under the military dictatorship and the estado novo sought to structure the diplomatic profession. then, based on biographical data, we draw a social and political outline of the diplomatic corps for the period under study. the final section examines the relationship between salazar?s regime and the ministry of foreign affairs, drawing parallels whenever possible with other european dictatorships (franco?s spain, fascist italy and nazi germany).
Oliveira,Pedro Aires;
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2011,
Abstract: harold macmillan was a key figure in the process that culminated with the liquidation of britain?s formal empire in the early 1960s. his speech delivered to the south african parliament on february 1960 became famous for an expression - ?the winds of change? - that encapsulated the high tide of nationalism in the colonial world. in this article, we start by analyzing the circumstances that facilitated the changes in the uk policy towards its own empire, and then proceed to describe the perceptions of the portuguese leaders concerning those changes and how this impacted on the anglo-portuguese relationship. finally we will describe the ill-fated efforts undertook by macmillan?s administration in 1961 in order to persuade salazar to adopt a more flexible stance towards the demands for self-determination in portuguese africa.
O Flanco Sul sob tens?o: a nato e revolu??o portuguesa, 1974-1975
Oliveira,Pedro Aires;
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2009,
Abstract: in the first decades of the cold war, nato?s major powers coexisted in a fairly easy way with the un-democratic nature of the portuguese regime. after the collapse of caetano?s dictatorship, however, the ascendancy of the marxist left, and of the communist party in particular, created a whole set of dilemmas to the western powers. this article describes how several nato?s members equated the implications of a possible triumph of the moscow orientated left in portugal to the cohesion of the alliance. the article argues that the cautious and moderate stance assumed by the european partners was vital to persuade the ford administration in washington to accept a policy towards the portuguese based on a combination of pressures and inducements. as the article tries to show, this policy may be seen as one of the key international factors that helped to bring about the consolidation of portugal?s democracy.
Mulheres e política: analisando a representa o sócio-cultural midiática
Maria Carmen Aires Gomes
