Grain refinement of commercial purity Magnesium processed by Ecap (Equal Channel Angular Pressing)

Abstract: grain refinement in magnesium is evaluated in the present paper. equal channel angular pressing is used to process commercially pure magnesium. processing was carried out at 523 k which is lower than the temperature used in other papers on the literature. the grain structure was evaluated throughout the deformation zone. the low processing temperature prevents significant grain growth. the evolution of the grain structure is compared to a recent model for mechanism of grain refinement in magnesium. the present results confirm the validity of the model.
The effect of cyclic torsion on the dislocation structure of drawn mild steel

Abstract: cold forming is usually associated with the "work hardening" of the material being formed. the work hardening behavior of metals subject to complex processing paths is different from that in monotonic deformation. the results show that, after some initial hardening, there is a possibility that further deformation will cause softening in the material ("work softening"). recent work showed that cyclic torsion applied to drawn products causes changes in the subsequent tensile behavior of low carbon steel, and that the effect will depend on the previous "history" of the material. for annealed samples, the cyclic torsion leads to an increase in the yield strength, but does not affect the tensile strength and elongation. for the case of previously drawn bars, the cyclic deformation caused a decrease in the yield and tensile strength and an increase in the total elongation. the present paper discusses the dislocation structure changes associated with different strain paths in mild steel.
Microstructure and mechanical properties of Pb-4%Sb alloy processed by equal channel angular pressing

Abstract: Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) is the most prominent SPD (Severe Plastic Deformation) method for the production of ultrafine and nanostructured metals, and has been extensively employed and analyzed. This technique was applied to a Pb-4%Sb alloy at room temperature, in order to study its effect on a low melting point and multiphase metallic material. The material was subjected to effective strains higher than 9, after 8 passes of processing, where dynamic and static recrystallization are expected during and after each pass. This eliminates any grain refinement and allows the analysis only of the microstructural effects associated with second phase redistribution and eventual precipitate dissolution. ECAP followed route C, which eliminates structural alignment after each even ECAP pass, facilitating the study of the microstructural evolution. It is shown that three ECAP passes are necessary to completely break the lamellar structure of the as cast strucure and that antimony dissolves into the lead rich matrix. Dynamic recrystallization and structural changes reduce the material strength and change the flow curve format.

Abstract: The work hardening of metals subjected to complex processing paths is different from that in monotonic deformation. Changes in the deformation mode can promote transients in the strain-hardening rate, leading to anomalous softening or hardening of the material. This paper investigates the influence of strain path changes on the tensile behavior of drawn 0.12% steel rods. Annealed or predrawn specimens were submitted to cyclic twisting and then tested in tension. The results show that the cyclic deformation causes changes in the mechanical behavior of the metal, and the effect will depend on the previous "history" of the material. Cyclic twisting causes hardening in annealed samples, but leads to softening of the drawn bars. These phenomena are in line with the corresponding substructural aspects.

Abstract: in this text is characterized the "postmodern. feminism" and the theoretical positions of two influential contemporary thinkers in philosophy of science from a postmodern feminist perspective. haraway and harding debate around the history of science and its andocentric slants, as well as on the concept "identity" from the cyborg paradigm. within the postmodern paradigm they assume the poststructuralist and deconstructionist inheritance and defend the necessity of a critical and autorreflexive social science like model of all sciences, but they have controversies about the gendered social space. haraway understands that the social space is not homogenous, and that the three dimensions that harding detects: generic symbolism, partner-sexual division of the work and processes of gendered individual identity, they are intercepted in multiple dimensions.

Abstract: Dans ce texte, l’auteur analyse l’évolution du bin me sexe/genre depuis ses origines. Teresa Aguilar aborde la question sous l’angle des théories consacrées au dimorphisme sexuel, théories apparues au début du XXème siècle et qui ont été essentielles pour comprendre à quel point le genre est socialement déterminé, tandis que le sexe est déterminé génétiquement. Elle analyse également le r le que cette association théorique (sexe/genre) a joué dans le Féminisme fran ais de la Différence, le Féminisme Radical et le Mouvement Queer. L'analyse proposée s’inspire des théories développées par le féministe matérialiste Haraway, qui rejette dans son oeuvre fondamentale, Des singes, des cyborgs et des femmes. Réinvention de la nature, la division sexe/genre laquelle, selon Haraway, a eu des conséquences terribles dans l'histoire du féminisme. L'article aborde par ailleurs la théorie du constructivisme de Butler ainsi que la théorie performativiste du genre. Enfin, Teresa Aguilar examine le r le du travesti en tant qu’agent subversif susceptible de contester le code hétérosexuel imposé. Elle s’intéresse au mouvement queer, per u comme un agent déstabilisateur du système capitaliste, idéologie confrontée à des théoriciennes comme Rodriguez Magda, qui introduit le concept de simulacre de Baudrillard pour expliquer le r le du travesti. En este texto se analiza el par teórico sexo/género desde su nacimiento, según las primeras investigaciones sobre dimorfismo sexual a principios del siglo XX, que pusieron de manifiesto cómo el género era socialmente determinado, mientras que el sexo estaba determinado genéticamente. También se analiza el papel que dicho par teórico ha jugado dentro del Feminismo Francés de la Diferencia, el Feminismo Radical y el Movimiento Queer. El enfoque de análisis es el de la feminista materialista Haraway, quien sostiene en su obra fundamental : Ciencia, cyborgs y mujeres. La reinvención de la Naturaleza, una posición que rechaza la división sexo/género, por considerar que ha conducido a terribles consecuencias en la historia del feminismo. Por otra parte, el artículo parte también del constructivismo de Butler y la teoría performacionista del género, así como discute el papel del travesti como agente subversivo que pudiera impugnar el código heterosexual impuesto, o del movimiento queer como agente desestabilizador del sistema capitalista, confrontado con teóricas como Rodríguez Magda, quien introduce el concepto de simulacro de Baudrillard para explicar el papel del travesti. Abstract: This text approaches the subject of the Virtual Technology from two perspectives: the one that a new conception of the cosmos implies and the other one that concerns to the cyberspace’s body and its identity. In the first perspective the theoretical physicist Tipler in his book The physics of immortalityis approached of critical way, discussing the connection between Theology and Physics, and in the second one the ideas of theoreticians of the cyberspace like Virilio and Ascott are contemplated to define the status of the body in the cyber- world.
