Acta Scientiarum : Human and Social Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: As discuss es sobre a vitalidade histórico-analítica do conceito de classe têm sido objeto de aten o de importantes teóricos marxistas. Discussions on the historical and analytical vitality of the concept of class have been the object of attention of important Marxist theoreticians. Unfinished notes by Karl Marx on a systematic notion of class in “Capital” objectively influence the scope and intensity of these debates. This article aims to briefly discuss two key authors of the Marxist tradition: Edward Thompson and Ricardo Antunes. Both authors developed, at different historical times, studies on the composition, manner of being and acting of class. Thewritings of these thinkers point to some important crossroads on the path trod to build a sense of class for the Marxist tradition.
The Theory of the Organization and the New Paradigms  [PDF]
Aquiles Limone, Milan Marinovic
Open Journal of Business and Management (OJBM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojbm.2013.12005
Abstract: This paper proposes to tackle a subject that many authors have warned should not be taken lightly: “the new paradigms of Science” and the theory of management. The paper begins with a brief explanation about the changing environment which began during the 1970s. This section contains background and relevant criticism made by several authors, and sets out the argument for the need to change to a new paradigm. This is followed by an exploration of new concepts and ideas that have emerged in New Science that have direct relevance to developing new organizational models. Finally, a way to envision and conceptualize the organization as a living entity and to undertake the construction of a new paradigm is suggested.
Camelier, Aquiles;Rosa, Fernanda Warken;Salmi, Christine;Nascimento, Oliver Augusto;Cardoso, Fábio;Jardim, José Roberto;
Jornal Brasileiro de Pneumologia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1806-37132006000200006
Abstract: objective: the objective of this study was to evaluate the applicability of a modified version of the saint george's respiratory questionnaire. the version evaluated elicits "agree" and "do not agree", rather than "yes" and "no", responses. the intention is to facilitate the comprehension of double-negative questions and to promote better recollection of symptoms by patients by shortening their symptom histories from 12 months to 3 months. methods: a total of 30 clinically stable patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were evaluated. the saint george's respiratory questionnaire and the modified version of the same were administered 15 days apart. results: all of the patients presented health-related alterations in their quality of life. comparing mean scores between the two questionnaires, the greatest difference was seen in the symptoms domain. no significant differences were found in any of the remaining domains or in the total scores. in a subsequent analysis, significant correlations between the two questionnaires were found in all domains: symptoms (r = 0.71; p < 0.001); activity (r = 0.75; p < 0.001); impact (r = 0.73; p < 0.001) and total (r = 0.86; p < 0.001). conclusion: the modified version of the saint george's respiratory questionnaire is as effective as the original in gauging quality of life. however, various symptoms recollection time frames should be investigated in order to determine which would be the best time frame to employ in the analysis.

In order to evaluate the response of hybrid squash cv. Tetsukabuto to mineral (NPK) and organic compost, seven experiments were carried out in Ponte Nova, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, on a yellow-red cambic podsoil. Each experiment constituted one sampling date, which began at the 21st day and ended at the 105th day after sowing, with 14 days intervals. In these experiments five fertilizing treatments were tested plus a control (no treatment). In the fertilizing treatments, defined by a diagonal section of a complete factorial, rates of 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 t/ha (dry basis) of organic compost, associated with rates of 0.772, 0.579, 0.386, 0.193 and 0 t/ha of NPK (4-14-8), respectively, were applied with four replications in a randomized blocks design. The mineral and organic compost association increased the knots number in the main branch, the overall branches length and the dry matters of the aerial part, reproduction part and fruits. At 105 days after sowing, the highest dry matter percentage in the fruit, and the smallest vegetative growth, were obtained when the mineral fertilizer was replaced by the organic compost. On this day, the reproductive part dry matter reached a maximum of 1,997 g/ plant with 6,914 kg/ha of organic c

Roncoroni,Aquiles;
Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2002,
Abstract: the purpose of this review paper is to discuss: a) the differences in the nosological characteristics of this condition. some authors only accept as primary pulmonary hypertension those patients without any other possible cause. they even exclude those with familiar pulmonary hypertension since its genetical etiology is now well established. it is more generally accepted that the very low incidence of pulmonary hypertension in conditions such as anorexigen use, portal hypertension or others, suggest the coincidence of a permissive genotype, susceptible phenotype (endothelial dysfunction) and a triggering factor. in such a way, pulmonary hypertension may be associated with apparently dissimilar conditions. b) the current interpretation of histologic lesions and their relationship with recent histochemical and immunological findings. the previously proposed hypothesis that some lesions are final and inactive results of prolonged hypertension is difficult to uphold since they were found only months after the clinical beginning of the disease. moreover cells at the center of the plexiform lesion show histochemical activity patterns. it is also proposed that the anatomically inapparent endothelial dysfunction may be the original event. c) proposed causal mechanisms such as down-regulation or even absence of k+ voltage channels of the pulmonary vascular smooth muscle cell. this finding would include primary pulmonary hypertension among the simultaneous "channel diseases". the data that justify the possible influence of serotonin plasma levels are also commented.
El enigma de la hipertensión arterial pulmonar de origen indeterminado The enigma of primary pulmonary hypertension of undetermined origin
Aquiles Roncoroni
Medicina (Buenos Aires) , 2002,
Abstract: a case of intracranial chondrosarcoma is reported. its diagnosis can be suspected through the findings of a paraselar avascular tumor, sometimes with inespecific calcifications, visualized as a isodense and contrast-enhancing mass by computed tomography, as observed in the case. differential diagnosis may be difficult with chondromas and meningiomas. surgical ressection is the treatment of choice, with good results.
