Jefatura de hogar femenina y bienestar familiar: resultados de la investigación empírica

Abstract: Este trabajo presenta una revisión de los resultados de investigación acerca de la jefatura de hogar femenina y su relación con el bienestar familiar en América Latina y el Caribe, en general, y en México, en particular. En el contexto social reciente de estos países, el análisis de los hogares con jefatura femenina tiene particular importancia desde el punto de vista de sus implicaciones sociales y del dise o e implantación de políticas públicas, porque en estos hogares son evidentes los condicionamientos sociales de género que pueden colocarlos en situaciones de vulnerabilidad económica y social. Los trabajos revisados muestran la necesidad de reconocer la heterogeneidad demográfica y social de los hogares con jefatura femenina, y de evaluar la contribución relativa de cada uno de los factores condicionantes del bienestar de estos hogares para precisar la naturaleza de la relación entre la jefatura de hogar femenina y el bienestar familiar, y para la formulación de una política social de apoyo a este tipo de hogares.

Abstract: A mediados de la década de los noventa, el lingüista estadounidense Ray Jackendoff, meditando acerca de la situación de los avances en su campo de trabajo, publicó el libro Patterns in the Mind con el objetivo de poner al alcance del público no especializado los avances de la psicología cognitiva a partir de los postulados básicos de la revolución lingüística y cognitiva que floreció gracias a los trabajos del también lingüista norteamericano Noam Chomsky, a finales de la década de los cincuenta y principios de la de los sesenta. Su presencia en el desarrollo de esta nueva etapa del estudio del lenguaje y sus intereses en las nuevas teorías psicológicas 10 ubicaron en un marco teórico que comprende postulados acerca de la organización modular de las estructuras y procesos mentales, el innatismo de este tipo de organización y la existencia de una serie de patrones que rigen la construcción de gramáticas mentalesinconscientes para diversos dominios de la naturaleza humana.

Abstract: the multimediatic convergence is one of the greatest challenges of the digital era. in an environment where the boundaries between mass media and communication services such as telephone, tv, radio and computers among others are disappearing, mediatic convergence can be understood as a phenomenon with many dimensions: technological, economic, social and political. the literature on this topic was review to determine the main trends that distinguish this phenomenon. the applications, perspectives and transcendency were analyzed. a new scene for information management is emerging, it is a great challenge for professionals.
Hormone profile of menopausal women in Havana

Abstract: introduction: there is a tendency among women today to delay the age at which they have their first child or subsequent children. this creates a dilemma for couples, since health professionals tend to counsel against pregnancy in women aged >40 years without considering their reproductive potential and their ability to and likelihood of conceiving and carrying to term a healthy newborn at little or no risk. objective: assess hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function in menopausal women in havana, to evaluate relevance to reproductive potential. methods: a retrospective study was conducted from march 2006 through march 2008 of 230 healthy women aged 40-59 years seen in the menopause and osteoporosis clinic in havana, cuba. chart review yielded data on current age, stage of climacteric and hormone levels expressed in means and standard deviations: serum follicle-stimulating hormone (fsh), luteinizing hormone (lh), estradiol and testosterone. analysis of variance was used for assesment by age group and stage of menopause (eumenorrheic, perimenopausal and postmenopausal), with a p value of <0.05 set as significance level. results: mean serum hormone levels in eumenorrheic women were: fsh 6.97 iu/l, lh 4.23 iu/l and estradiol 314 pmol/l; in perimenopausal women: fsh 34.69 iu/l, lh 20.78 iu/l and estradiol 201 pmol/l; and in postmenopausal women: fsh 75.43 iu/l, lh 37.59 iu/l and estradiol 117 pmol/l (p <0.05 for difference between eumenorrheic and postmenopausal women). there was a progressive increase in fsh and lh and a decline in estradiol with older age. there was no significant difference in testosterone levels by age or stage of menopause. conclusions: menstrual cycle and hormonal levels of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis should be considered in addition to chronological age when determining reproductive potential in women aged 40-59 years.

Abstract: the pharmacy and food institute (ifal in spanish) of the university of havana has put into practice its four graduate education level in the pharmaceutical sciences and food sciences areas, with a comprehensive approach and in close association with the bodies and institutions in these branches. it has also designed a set of activities that made up and strengthened the graduate education system of ifal. for the evaluation of this system, surveys and interviews were made among students and leaders of the institutions where graduates come from respectively, and also internal and external evaluating processes were taken into consideration; additionally, the corresponding measures were adopted to increase the quality of the teaching activities. the analysis of the results showed the advancement and quality of the various activities, with due recognition to the excellent performance of professors and tutors. the relevance or social impact acknowledged by the institutions and bodies from which these students come is underscored.

Abstract: La convergencia multimediática es uno de los grandes retos de la era digital. En un entorno donde desaparecen las fronteras entre medios masivos y servicios de comunicación como el teléfono, la televisión, la radio y la computadora, entre otros, esta puede entenderse como un fenómeno con múltiples dimensiones: tecnológicas, económicas, sociales y políticas. Se revisó la literatura existente sobre el tema para determinar las tendencias fundamentales que caracterizan a este fenómeno. Se tratan sus aplicaciones, perspectivas y trascendencia. Un nuevo escenario para la gestión de información está emergiendo, sus profesionales tienen ante sí un gran desafío. Avances en la ense anza de posgrado en la actividad farmacéutica y alimentaria

Abstract: El Instituto de Farmacia y Alimentos (IFAL) de la Universidad de La Habana (UH) ha implementado su cuarto nivel de ense anza en las áreas de Ciencias Farmacéuticas y Ciencias de los Alimentos, con un enfoque integrador y en estrecho vínculo con los organismos e instituciones de estas ramas; también ha proyectado un conjunto de actividades que han conformado el Sistema de Posgrado del IFAL y lo han fortalecido. Para la evaluación de este sistema se realizaron encuestas a los estudiantes, entrevistas a los dirigentes de las instituciones de procedencia de los posgraduados y se consideraron los procesos de evaluación interna y externa; además se tomaron las medidas pertinentes para elevar la calidad de las actividades que se desarrollan. El análisis de los resultados evidencia el avance y la calidad de las diferentes actividades que se ejecutan, con reconocimiento a la excelencia del claustro de profesores y tutores; se destaca la pertinencia e impacto social, reconocido por las instituciones y organismos a los cuales pertenecen los estudiantes.
