Abstract: this work provides information on ethnobotany, leaf architecture and anatomy of agastache mexicana ssp. mexicana (toronjil morado) and a. mexicana ssp. xolocotziana (toronjil blanco), with the purpose that they will be included in the pharmacopeia herbolaria of the estados unidos mexicanos (fheum) and that their anatomical characters could be used to validate the identity of the botanical material in quality control. we gathered ethnobotanical information using semi-structured interviews of people from temoaya, mexico state, mexico. semi-permanent and permanent slides for structural analysis and leaf architecture were made. both toronjiles are used by the inhabitants as a therapeutic and ornamental resource, they are distinguished by the leaf shape, flower color, and flavor, but there are no use preferences between them. leaf architecture follows the acrodromous pattern of basal position with an imperfect development; areoles show an imperfect development with a random arrangement, with simple or once-branched veinlets and the margin with cunonioid teeth in both species. anatomical differences are observed in the stem include the more abundant uniseriate non- glandular trichomes and the more highly developed developed sclerenchyma bands in a. mexicana ssp. xolocotziana with respect to a. mexicana ssp. mexicana.

Abstract: El presente trabajo incluye información etnobotánica, así como la arquitectura foliar y anatomía vegetativa de Agastache mexicana ssp. mexicana (toronjil morado) y A. mexicana ssp. xolocotziana (toronjil blanco), con la finalidad de que sean incluidas en la Farmacopea Herbolaria de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (FHEUM) y que sus caracteres anatómicos se utilicen para validar la identidad del material vegetal en el control de calidad. El registro de la información etnobotánica se efectuó por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas a pobladores del municipio de Temoaya, Estado de México, México. Para el estudio anatómico y arquitectura foliar, se elaboraron preparaciones semipermanentes y permanentes de tallos y hojas. Ambos toronjiles son utilizados por los habitantes de la zona de estudio como recurso terapéutico y de ornato; los distinguen por la forma de las hojas, el color de la flor y el aroma, pero no existen preferencias de uso entre ambos. La arquitectura foliar sigue el patrón acródromo de posición basal con un desarrollo imperfecto; las areolas muestran un desarrollo imperfecto con disposición al azar, con vénulas simples o ramificadas una vez y el margen con dientes cunonioides en ambas especies. Diferencias anatómicas se observan en el tallo y son los tricomas no glandulares uniseriados en mayor abundancia y las bandas de esclerénquima más desarrolladas los caracteres que distinguen a A. mexicana ssp. xolocotziana de A. mexicana ssp. mexicana. Abstract: Cuphea aquipetala Cav., Lythraceae (Hierba del cáncer) es utilizada en la medicina tradicional mexicana. En el presente trabajo se determinó mediante entrevistas, consultas de herbario y revisión bibliográfica sus aplicaciones médicas más frecuentes, a saber: para tratar golpes y heridas, para lo cual la droga (hoja y tallo) es preparada en infusión, o administrada en emplastos. Con la finalidad de aportar datos que ayuden a la inclusión de esta especie en la Farmacopea Herbolaria de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (FHEUM), se describen la arquitectura foliar y los caracteres anatómicos de la droga. El estudio anatómico reveló que los tres tipos de tricomas reconocidos en la especie estudiada apoyan a diferenciarla de otras especies de Cuphea sp. Se observó variación anatómica principalmente en la nervadura central de la hoja. La arquitectura foliar se describe por primera vez para la especie y sienta las bases para futuras comparaciones. Por otra parte, el extracto acetona-agua de las partes aéreas que previamente ha sido reportado con actividad citotóxica contra células DU-145 (carcinoma de próstata humano) y HCT-15 (carcinoma de colon humano) mostró la presencia de compuestos polifenólicos del tipo de los taninos hidrolizables, taninos condensados, y se aisló manitol.
Variability and Synchronism of Leaf Appearance and Leaf Elongation Rates of Eleven Contrasting Rice Genotypes  [PDF]

Abstract: Leaf appearance and leaf elongation rates in rice play an essential role in determining the development of the plants’ architecture which affects their adaptability to varying environments. This study aimed to characterize the rates of leaf appearance and elongation on all leaves of the main culms of rice plants for 11 contrasting varieties and to determine if the decrease in the leaf appearance rate was related to a simultaneous decrease in the rate of leaf elongation. Forty four 13-L pots were sown with one plant from one genotype and laid out in 4 randomized complete blocks. The experiment, conducted inside a greenhouse, was repeated twice. The increase in length of the leaves expanding on the main stems was monitored daily until flag leaf. Data were used to estimate the rates of leaf appearance and leaf elongation. Significant variability in the rate of leaf appearance, rate of leaf elongation, and leaf length was found across varieties. The kinetics of leaf appearance had linear phases intermediated by a curvilinear phase, without sharp changes in the phyllochron duration. Maximal leaf elongation rate (LER) of all genotypes (except for one) increased linearly with leaf rank until it reached its maximum value at leaf 8 to 10 (11 - 12 for Azucena) where it stabilized before decreasing linearly with leaf rank for the last leaves. Finally, both rates of leaf appearance and leaf elongation evolved with time more smoothly than expected so no sharp decrease in LER occurred at the time of the decrease in leaf appearance rate of the last leaves. However, the trilinear model fits the data well enough to remain useful in efficiently comparing the leaf appearance kinetics of contrasting varieties.

Engagement of the learner is essential for learning and promoting student satisfaction. There are online teaching strategies that could enhance a student’s perception of engagement. Abstract: human rights are by nature evolving and expansive. the dynamic of human rights generates several different interactions between international legal systems and domestic legal systems and at the same time, brings not only the connections between the state and the individual but also within the individuals themselves. the latter point is a theory referred to as "the horizontal effect of human rights". this theory has been specifically introduced to our national legal system through the context of labor law and worker's rights, as a way of limiting or prohibiting any sort of human rights violations be it civil, political or social rights. this paper examines the suitability of the way in which the horizontal effect doctrine has been incorporated into domestic law and its foreseeable consequences

Abstract: Los derechos humanos son por naturaleza evolutivos y expansivos. La dinámica de los derechos humanos crea diversas interacciones-interacciones entre el orden jurídico internacional y el orden jurídico interno- y al mismo tiempo, provoca diversas relaciones entre el Estado y el individuo, pero también entre los individuos ellos mismos. A este último respecto, aparece la teoría llamada el efecto horizontal de los derechos humanos. Esta teoría ha sido expresamente introducida en nuestro sistema jurídico en el contexto del derecho del trabajo y de los derechos de los trabajadores como una manera de limitar o prohibir cualquier clase de violación a los derechos humanos, tanto civiles y políticos como sociales.
