A research on the effects of the riddles in the process of language development of the children's domains as social course materials: Konya sample

Abstract: Rhyming folk narratives like riddles, jingles, lullabies and anecdotes can be considered as an endless socio-cultural treasure for children. Children can acquire phonology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, which are the universal elements of language, starting from the very first day of their childhood, as verbal in their middle childhood and both verbal and written form of them in their late childhood unconsciously in the context of the folk narratives, which are mile stones of mother tongue acquisition. Thanks to the folk narratives which are social learning materials, children start to acquire and speak Turkish as mother tongue in social context effectively. In this research, first, description and classification of the riddles are done later, the effects of the riddles in the language development of the children are handled and last, 86 riddles belonging to Konya around are collected by interview.

Abstract: Poetic folk literature products make important contributions to the mother tongue education and Turkish to be learned effectively. Lullabies, folk songs, ballads, tongue twisters, word puzzles and people songs introduce children with the word existence of mother tongue. The literature products help children learn Turkish, the mother tongue, effectively in the sensory-motor and preoperational stages of development. Native language education through the culture also contributes to the awareness of language and nationality. The classification of the folk literature products according to children’s development and maturation phases, their sensation-opinion adequacies, their tastes and habits, their dream worlds and their usage as a material of children’s literature with scientific methods depend on in common tries of language teachers, pedagogs, educational researchers and psychologists. In this study first lullabies are defined and classified. Then, effects of the lullabies on the development of children’s mother tongue are investigated. Later, in the vicinities of Konya, 62 lullabies are compiled by face to face interview method, and content analysis of these lullabies are made to determine to what domains of children they effect. As a final remark, some suggestions concerning lullaby selection and singing made to those who may concern.
Comparision of traditional and computer aided teaching approaches for the preschoolers’ color concept acquisition

Abstract: The aim of the study is to compare effect of education with computer and traditional education system to 3-4 years old children attending pre-school institution to have them gain basic and unbasic colors. For this aim, giving color concept with computer education and traditional education research it is investigated which method is more effective for 3-4 years old children who attend nursery school in Sel uklu.The research is planned as experimental. In this study, children are divided into two groups. Half of them are in experimental group with computer; and half of them are in control group with traditional education method. After training for a period, color evaluation scale is put into practise.In analyzing data, independent t test is used. Significant differences are found betwen the methods. When the total point is statistically evaluated, significant diffirences are found betwen the comprehension level of the color of the two groups who got computer and traditional method of teaching to learn basic and unbasic color (p<0,05). Therefore, the group who got computer education method of teaching are found to be more successful than the group who get the traditional method of teaching in learning the color.
Comparision of the moral development of the students attending to different primary schools from different variables

Abstract: Moral development is one of the most important elements for individual personnel development. The studies related moral and cognitive development implies that every individual is expected to reach to the highest phase of the cognitive development, but, he is not expected to reach to highest phase of his moral development and each individual has his own moral development process.This study was conducted to reveal whether there is a significant difference in their moral judgment levels among students attending various schools. The moral judgments of the students attending various schools were compared with different variables. These variables change from the educational institutions they attend to their sexes, and their preschool education. The population of the study is limited to Grade 8 students attending Private Dilta Educational Institutions, Private Lale Institutions and Public Rebii Karatekin Primary School, all affiliated to National education Administration of Konya Province. In the study, total of 212 students, of whom 104 attend the public school and 108 attend the private schools, were reached. These 212 students were administered to Turkish version of the Defining Issue Test (DIT). In the analysis of the collected information, the test of two students, one attending to public school one of the private schools were not evaluated by virtue of test reliability. The independent (t) test was used in the analysis of the collected data. According to independent variables, in significance of control of the differences between student groups' moral judgment point averages, a significance level of 0.05 was adopted. The findings of the study are summarized below:Insignificant difference has been found between the 8th grade students attending the public school and those attending the private schools in respect of their moral judgments.According to sexes, the differences between boys' and girls' moral judgments were found to be insignificant although the girls' points in phase 4 seemed to be higher than those of the boys' are. Insignificant difference has been found between the 8th grade students who received pre-school education and those who did not in regard to moral judgments levels.In the light of these results obtained from the study, various suggestions were made to raise the students' levels of moral judgment.
