Abstract: This study analyzed the long run relationship between trade openness and output growth for Pakistan using annual time series data for 1972-2010. This study follows the Engle and Granger co integration analysis and error correction approach to analyze the long run relationship between the two variables. The Error Correction Term (ECT) for output growth and trade openness is significant at 5% level of significance and indicates a positive long run relation between the variables. This study has also analyzed the causality between trade openness and output growth by using granger causality test. The results of granger causality show that there is a bi-directional significant relationship between trade openness and economic growth.

Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/am.2013.412233

In the paper [1], authors have suggested and analyzed a predictor-corrector Halley method for solving nonlinear equations. In this paper, we modified this method by using the finite difference scheme, which had a quantic convergence. We have compared this modified Halley method with some other iterative methods of ninth order, which shows that this new proposed method is a robust one. Some examples are given to illustrate the efficiency and the performance of this new method.

ETHNICITY-BASED RELIGIOSITY: Multi-Faceted Islam in Miami, USA, in the Age of War on Terrorism
Ahmad Muttaqin,Syamsul Ma’arif
Al-Jami'ah : Journal of Islamic Studies , 2006,
Abstract: Minoritas Muslim seringkali menunjukkan perilaku yang ambigu.

Abstract: Nitrogen fertilization plays a very important role for crop productivity. New developed wheat varieties need proper fertilization for improved crop productivity. The present study was carried out to quantify, the effects of nitrogen derived from urea and FYM on the four newly developed wheat varieties i.e. Siran-2009, Ata Habib, Janbaz-2009 and Pirsabak-2008 for yield improvement, quality and soil fertility status. The N treatments were control, 100% of the recommended nitrogen from urea as well as FYM, and 50% from each source. The experiment was carried out at New Developmental Farm, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University Peshawar Pakistan, during Rabi 2011-2012. Results of the data showed that Janbaz-2009 was more responsive to biological yield (11,011 kg·ha-1), grain yield (4339 kg·ha-1), and nitrogen use efficiency (14.8%), whereas Siran-2010 performed better for grain N contents (2.31%). Plots having both urea and FYM had improved biological yield (11,958 kg·ha-1), and grain yield (4901 kg·ha-1). Urea application had improved straw N contents (0.92%) in addition to Mix application of urea and FYM (0.93%). Mix application of both sources and sole FYM had higher grains N content (2.25%), whereas control plots in addition to mix application had improved nitrogen use efficiency (14.8%). Siran-2010 and Janbaz-2009 performed better in FYM and mix FYM and urea plots for most of the parameters. It was concluded from the experiment that Janbaz-2009 had improved yield and yield components, whereas Siran-2010 had improved the grain N content. Similarly, Mix application of FYM and urea had improved crop productivity, soil fertility and grains as well as straw N content. Thus wheat varieties Janbaz-2009 sown in mix FYM and urea is recommended for general cultivation in agro-climatic condition of Peshawar.

Abstract: A field study was carried out with the objective to determine the effect of various levels of nitrogen on growth, development, yield and yield components of different sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrids i.e. Hysun-33 and S-78 were evaluated under agro-climatic conditions of Sargodha, Pakistan during spring 2013. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with split plot arrangement having three replications, keeping cultivars in the main plots and N levels in the subplots. The net plot size was 4.2 m × 6 m. The growth parameters such are leaf area, leaf area duration and yield parameters were observed are Days to a thesis, Days to maturity, head diameter (cm), No. of achene’s per head, Achene yield (kg·ha-
Do Economic, Institutional, or Political Variables Explain Economic Growth
Hasnat Ahmad,Asma Arif,Syed Mofazzal Mohyuddin
International Journal of Business and Management , 2012, DOI: 10.5539/ijbm.v7n24p29
Abstract: This study analyzed the impact of trade openness and institutional variables on GDP growth of Pakistan using annual time series data for the period 1984 to 2010. This study follows the Johansen co-integration analysis and error correction model to analyze the long run relationship among the variables. The result of Johansen co-integration indicates that there exists a long run equilibrium relationship among the variables in the model. There is a negative long-run relationship between real GDP and trade openness. The relationship between government stability (GOV_ST) and real GDP is found to be positive whereas the association between real GDP and corruption is found to be negative. The error correction term (ECT) is statistically significant at the 5% level of significance suggests a moderate speed of convergence to equilibrium.
Phenology and Physiology of Canola as Affected by Nitrogen and Sulfur Fertilization

Journal of Agronomy , 2006,
Abstract: Experiments were conducted at Cereal Crops Research Institute Pirsabak Nowshera, Pakistan, during 2003-04 and 2004-05 to evaluate the impact of nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S) levels, time and methods of application on Canola (Brassica napus L. cv. Bulbul-98) under irrigated conditions. Four levels of S (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg S ha-1) and three levels of N (80, 120 and 160 kg N ha-1) and a control treatment with both nutrients at zero level were applied as a sole dose at sowing, or in two split applications (50% at sowing + 50% at leaf rosette stage), or three split applications (1/3rd at sowing + 1/3rd at leaf rosette stage+ 1/3rd at flowering). The experiments were laid out in Randomized Complete Block (RCB) Design with split plot arrangement having four replications. Treatments comprising N and S levels were applied to main plots while time of application treatments were assigned to sub plots. Analysis of the data collected from the experiments indicated that maturity of canola was delayed as N rate was increased. Increasing levels of N had progressively enhanced plant height, leaf area index and CGR up to the highest level of 160 kg N ha-1. However, harvest index, was increased up to 120 kg N ha-1. The influence of S was non-significant on days to maturity while leaf area index and harvest index, were increased significantly when S rate was increased up to the 40 kg S ha-1. However increasing rate of S continuously enhanced plant height and CGR up to the highest level of 60 kg S ha-1. There was no significant influence of the time of application of N and S on plant height, leaf area index and CGR. However, sole application of N and S at sowing resulted in early maturity and three-split applications significantly decreased harvest index of canola.
Theoretical investigation of half-metallicity in Co/Ni substituted AlN
Suneela Arif,Iftikhar Ahmad,B. Amin
Physics , 2011,
Abstract: Results of Co and Ni substituted AlN in the zinc blende phase are presented. For spin up states the hybridized N-2p and Co/Ni-3d states form the valance bands with a bandgap around the Fermi level for both materials, while in the case of the spin down states the hybridized states cross the Fermi level and hence show metallic nature. It is found that, Al0.75Co0.25N and Al0.75Ni0.25N are ferromagnetic materials with magnetic moments of 4 {\mu}B and 3 {\mu}B respectively. The integer magnetic moments and the full spin polarization at the Fermi level make these compounds half-metallic semiconductors. Furthermore it is also found that the interaction with the N-2p state splits the 5-fold degenerate Co/Ni-3d states into t2g and eg states. The t2g states are located at higher energies than the eg states caused by the tetrahedral symmetry of these compounds.
