Abstract: A museum is not only a physical place, a mere container of fragments of the cultural heritage. It is above all a unity of knowledge whose task of scientific research and analysis of the collections leads to an original interpretation of the world, to a specific culture, typical of each museum. Through its permanent exhibitions or any other means at its disposal, each museum conveys its cultural specificity to the visitor, a specificity which is different to that of other museums and does not intend to be objective. This paper aims to prove all the above by showing how, in different times and places, three important museums displayed three examples of evolution obtained form paleontology developing a totally subjective interpretation of the evolutionary process. El museo no es sólo un lugar físico, un simple contenedor de fragmentos del patrimonio cultural, es, sobretodo, una unidad de conocimiento cuya labor de investigación científica y análisis de las colecciones conduce a una interpretación del mundo totalmente original, a una cultura propia de cada museo. Utilizando las exposiciones permanentes, o cualquier otro medio a su disposición, cada museo comunica al público su especifidad cultural, que es diversa de la de otros museos y no quiere ser objetiva. Esto es cuanto el artículo pretende demostrar ilustrando cómo, en tiempos y lugares diferentes, tres grandes instituciones museísticas mostraron al público tres ejemplos de evolución obtenida de la paleontología desarrollando una interpretación totalmente subjetiva del proceso evolutivo.

Abstract: The pharmacological action of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants may include a normalization of the decreased brain levels of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and of neurosteroids such as the progesterone metabolite allopregnanolone, which are decreased in patients with depression and posttraumatic stress disorders (PTSD). The allopregnanolone and BDNF level decrease in PTSD and depressed patients is associated with behavioral symptom severity. Antidepressant treatment upregulates both allopregnanolone levels and the expression of BDNF in a manner that significantly correlates with improved symptomatology, which suggests that neurosteroid biosynthesis and BDNF expression may be interrelated. Preclinical studies using the socially isolated mouse as an animal model of behavioral deficits, which resemble some of the symptoms observed in PTSD patients, have shown that fluoxetine and derivatives improve anxiety-like behavior, fear responses and aggressive behavior by elevating the corticolimbic levels of allopregnanolone and BDNF mRNA expression. These actions appeared to be independent and more selective than the action of these drugs on serotonin reuptake inhibition. Hence, this review addresses the hypothesis that in PTSD or depressed patients, brain allopregnanolone levels, and BDNF expression upregulation may be mechanisms at least partially involved in the beneficial actions of antidepressants or other selective brain steroidogenic stimulant molecules.

Abstract: A search for dark matter produced in association with a top quark pair is presented. The search is performed using 19.7 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$ of proton-proton collisions recorded at a center of mass energy of 8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The signature investigated is top quark pairs in the semi-leptonic final state plus missing transverse energy. This work focuses in particular on dark matter production through scalar interaction where a proportionality to the quark mass is expected.
Campo magnetico regionale e campo magnetico normale nel Mediterraneo centrale

Abstract: Dai risultati del rilevamento magnetico del Mediterraneo in un'area di 3.10" km2 si deduce un campo medio per l'intensità totale F in forma di polinomio di 2° grado, funzione della latitudine e della longitudine, e si mostra che esso rappresenta con buona approssimazione gli effetti del campo principale in in questa regione. L'analisi spettrale delle anomalie magnetiche calcolate assumendo tale campo come riferimento indica la presenza di effetti a vari intervalli di lunghezza d'onda: inferiore a 35 km, fra 50 e 130 km, superiore a 170 km. Si dà un esempio di anomalie nel campo delle maggiori lunghezze d'onda, situate nell'Adriatico centrale e nello Ionio occidentale; alle anomalie di tali dimensioni caratteristiche, che sono evidentemente originate dai più profondi livelli magnetizzati della crosta, si propone di dare il nome di campo regionale, limitando il termine di campo normale al solo campo principale.
Dose-Response Relationship between Dietary Polyphenols from Acorns and Parotid Gland Hypertrophy in Pigs  [PDF]

Abstract: Proline contents of parotid glands (PG) in pigs constantly increase after the inclusion of different amounts of ripe hulled acorns in the diet providing high polyphenols levels. The dose-response relationship was estimated on natural hydrolizable tannins (expressed as tannic acid equivalent TAE) amounts of 25.8 to 36.1 g TAE/kg DM in experimental diets. Macroscopic and histological morphometry of parotid glands greatly varied according to feed intake and dosages of TAE ingested. The PG response (hypertrophy grade) on acorns’ tannins content in the diet was positively correlated (R2 = 0.748): the response to the protein precipitating activity (PPA) of tannins consisted of a functional parotidomegaly (hypertrophy), 1.34 up to 3.55 folds than control PGs, following an oral dosage 0.596 up 1.72 TAE g·kg body weight·d-1 respectively, after one week exposure.

Abstract: In this paper we report the synthesis of new compounds based on the pyrazole and isoxazole framework fused to a cycloalkene unit, and bearing as a substituent the 1-piperidinyl group as new examples of potential antipsychotic molecules. The general synthesis involves the acylation of a chloro-substituted cyclic ketone with a 1-substituted piperidine-4-carboxylate derivative, followed by heterocyclization of the formed 1,3-dioxo compound with a hydrazine or hydroxylamine.
Dependencies and Simultaneity in Membrane Systems

Abstract: Membrane system computations proceed in a synchronous fashion: at each step all the applicable rules are actually applied. Hence each step depends on the previous one. This coarse view can be refined by looking at the dependencies among rule occurrences, by recording, for an object, which was the a rule that produced it and subsequently (in a later step), which was the a rule that consumed it. In this paper we propose a way to look also at the other main ingredient in membrane system computations, namely the simultaneity in the rule applications. This is achieved using zero-safe nets that allows to synchronize transitions, i.e., rule occurrences. Zero-safe nets can be unfolded into occurrence nets in a classical way, and to this unfolding an event structure can be associated. The capability of capturing simultaneity of zero-safe nets is transferred on the level of event structure by adding a way to express which events occur simultaneously.
