Embedded Based Conveyance Authentication and Notification System

Abstract: Amidst the rapid increase in population and urbanization, the use of automobiles is increasing rapidly. Though there are improved safety and security features with advancement in technology, there are no vehicle regulatory systems that provide automation in vehicle monitoring and act violations. The main objective of the work is to have a centralized server based monitoring of vehicles with an advanced security system realized in two levels of verification (password and RFID card i.e. driving license) for engine ignition. In addition to this, the centralized server maintains two separate databases i.e. one for the vehicle and another for the person who rides it. A unique id is allotted for the vehicle and RFID card (smart card driving license) can be used to identify the object. The unique identifiers linked to the respective person’s bank account debits the penalty/toll fare when the vehicle passes by toll gates/check posts. This provides a way for reducing any possibility of corruption in motor vehicles section as the penalty will be deducted straightforwardly from the person's account by an automated system.
ARM Based 3-in-1 Device for People with Disabilities

Abstract: Now-a-days to lead our life we had to run with our fast materialistic world. To express our thoughts, we communicate with different people in different languages and in different ways. But, it is difficult for the dumb, blind and people who are affected by paralysis to convey what they think. The dumb people and the paralysis affected people, feel extremely difficult to express their ideas. The blind people face difficulties in writing their exams. Hence, there is a need to develop a platform for those people who are physically challengeable. An Embedded device shall address the above said problems. (1) The paralysis affected people by wearing a glove made up of flex sensors can convey their ideas; (2) By pressing the keypad (buttons) in the device, dumb people can express their basic needs with the text-to-speech IC. (3) When the blind people speak, speech-to-text module converts it and viewed in a display. All of these techniques work in a single embedded device by the control of an ARM7 Processor. By using this device, PWD (People With Disabilities) can easily communicate their basic needs with the society and they can lead their life independently in a peaceful way.
An Intelligent Irrigation System with Voice Commands and Remote Monitoring of Field

Abstract: Agriculture sector is the backbone of Indian economy. With the advent of electric motors, the burden of manual irrigation by farmers has mitigated a lot. But still frequent power cuts and voltage fluctuations have affected the proper irrigation of fields in many remote areas. There have been several innovative efforts to automate the irrigation of fields. This study proposed an automatic irrigation system based on voice commands from an illiterate farmer. A separate module for speech to text conversion is interfaced to the farmers mobile. The module uses the Hidden Markov Model for speech recognition and a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) or processor based system to store the texts. Besides this, the system also includes a wireless network based remote monitoring of the field’s temperature and moisture. The voltage monitoring unit informs the farmer about the power availability in the field. The control unit is based on the Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) controller and relays connected to the various valves. Controller shuts off the motor if the measured values of temperature and moisture have reached the prefixed levels. The proposed system would reduce the hardships of the farmer and helps in efficient utilization of water in the fields.
SMART IRRIGATION TECHNIQUE USING VOCAL COMMANDS

Abstract: In this wireless communication era, mobile phones have become a necessity in the common man’s life. Besides being capable of making calls and sending messages, the latest advancements in mobile phones facilitate them to connect to the internet also. With these capabilities, there has been an unprecedented use of mobile phones in many areas of automation. One such area where mobile phone can help with the automation is irrigation process. The main aim of the work is to simplify the method of irrigation using vocal commands through the mobile phone. The Farmer just needs to call a fixed number and utter the control commands through his phone. The control system at the field involves a PIC microcontroller interfaced with GSM modem to receive the command from the farmer and a voice recognition unit which decodes it. The motor is turned on/off according to the decoded commands by the controller. In addition, the system also sends back a message to the farmer’s mobile about the action that has taken place. The power detection and battery backup unit helps in detecting the power availability in the field and inform the farmer about the same, even if the there is no supply at the field. The moisture sensor attached to the system helps in collecting the moisture content of the soil and switch off the motor after it reaches the required value.
A REMOTE HEALTH MONITORING MESSENGER

Abstract: Health is an important factor of every human being. Remote health monitoring messenger is needed for the people to reduce their inconvenience in travel to hospitals due to ailing health. Ill-patientrequires accurate decision to be taken immediately in critical situations, so that life-protecting and lifesaving therapy can be properly applied. In recent years, sensors are used in each and every fast developing application for designing the miniaturized system which is much easier for people use. A remote health monitoring messenger informs the doctor about the patient condition through wireless media such as Global System for Mobile communication. The system specifically deals with the signal conditioning and data acquisition of heart beat, temperature, and blood pressure of human body. The Heart beat sensor is used to read the patient’s beats per minute (bpm) and temperature sensor to measure the body temperature of patient externally and pressure sensor to measure the level of pressure in blood. Signals obtained from sensors are fed into the microcontroller for processing and medicine is prescribed as first aid for patient to control the parameters through visual basic. A message is then sent to the doctor for further actions to be taken for treatment of patient after first aid. The system has a very good response time and it is cost effective.
INTELLIGENT WHEELCHAIR FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Abstract: People make use of different languages to express their thoughts in a different way. But, it is difficult for the people who are affected by paralysis and stroke. Hence, there is a need to develop a platform for those people who are physically challengeable. An Embedded device shall address the above said problems. Based on the ARM processor the operation takes place. The device is designed with an intelligent wheelchair and the People With Disabilities (PWD) can direct it. By pressing the keypad (buttons) in the device, people with disabilities can move the wheelchair. In this process, the line followingalgorithm is implemented. To direct the wheelchair, L298 motor driver is used with the help of an ultrasonic obstacle sensor. By pressing a button, an automatic call to the doctor takes place if the PWDneeds critical help. The GSM modem is used to forward the call. The LCD shows the basic needs of PWD which is already assigned in the buttons. On pressing the button, a text is displayed in the LCD with abuzzer sound. This device provides a unique mobility for the people with disabilities.
Storage and Retrieval of Medical Images using Cloud Computing

Abstract: Every year health care organizations craft petabytes of data in terms of patient records, medical images and lab results. The dispute for healthcare facilities is maintaining medical images for enduring access while shielding them in a way that meets Health Information portability and accountability ACT requirements for privacy and disaster recovery. This act needs providers to stock up the data for years and decades. The main focus of the health care organization is about the expenditure of an onsite medical image database. Scalability and safeguarding are the most important concern for the domestic network and health care providers while storing huge amount of medical images. Cloud computing is one of the most inspiring technologies because of its cost effectiveness, elasticity, accessibility and scalability which can be an expected way out for the troubles one faced for stock up the images. Microsoft Windows Azure is one of the platforms in cloud computing used to store flexible images. To hold the client queries, Azure includes a server called Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine Server Windows Azure will supply this sort of service oriented applications.
Cloud-computing Framework for Network Monitoring

Abstract: Cloud computing is the recent realm of today’s networking. In today’s world highly skilled network admin is essential to monitor the organizations network throughout the clock. The organization spread across geological areas lack in unified view of monitoring approach. The versatility of the network system, needs compulsory changes in network monitoring. The Cloud Computing Framework which solves the problems of combined view of Network Management Servers executes the task constantly and gives consistent summary of results. And also, it enables remote monitoring which need not want the network admin to be near the system always. The focus was to design a model framework of cloud computing and implement two of the cloud-ware. The ‘Cloud Cop’ cloud computing framework provides Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). A desktop application to monitor the shared network in the back-end is developed. The User Interface is designed using Java Applet.
Design and Development of Temperature Control System in Induction Furnace using LPC2148 and XBee

Abstract: In forging and rolling industries, the furnace is used for melting. The temperature of the furnace is controlled by supplying air-fuel combination, flow of electron, inflow of coal etc. Depends on the type of furnace it will vary. The temperature is measured by using pyrometer type sensors or any contact type sensors. Fully automated furnace, temperature is measured and transmitted to control room through a wired connection. Similarly control on furnace also carried out by wired connections from the control room. In wired network, transmission between control room and furnace and vice versa needs lengthy and confusing wire connections. Installation cost is also high. In this proposed study, the amplified value of the temperature sensor is transmitted to the controller unit by radio frequency waves. For transmission highly secured XBee is used. The controller unit receives the temperature serially by using another XBee module. The controller unit displays the temperature locally. Controlling value of the flow of electrons is transmitted to another controller using the XBee module. So that temperature of the furnace is maintained with ±1°C. In the entire process LPC2148 processor is used. By implementing this technique accident due to operator carelessness can be reduced. This technique is easy to implement and also acquired at low cost.
Real Time Monitoring and Controlling Of Transformers

Abstract: Transformers are basic design of electrical device which provide power transmission by transforming induced current from one circuit to another. The induced current can be converted step up or step down of current or voltage. This application mainly concentrates on the three-phase transformers which are used in between electric poles and the Power transformers. The real time controlling is done on the basic features like gas level, oil aging and regulation of overload and temperature maintenance. These features are essential for effective power transmission and long life of industrial transformers. The monitoring and control of the transformer is done by using ARM7 processor, RF transmission for wireless communication and sensors which check the level of gas, aging of oil, overload and maintain temperature by regular observation. There are various transformer maintenance techniques but this paper gives a real time monitoring and controlling of transformers by using ARM7 processor which replace the bulky computers making it as embedded system. The design is to sense the features of transformer and send the information regularly to the processor, the processor in turn will makes the transmission through RF to the client. So, this design makes possible to attain real time control and monitoring of oil, gas, overload and temperature range in the transformer.
