Sosa,B; Israel,A;
Archivos Venezolanos de Farmacología y Terapéutica , 2002,
Abstract: the present study was carried out to assess whether endogenous angiotensin ii (ang) supports sympathetically mediated cardiovascular response to stress in conscious unrestrained rats, using experimental models in which the renin-angiotensin-system was reduced or blocked. footshock-stress increased mean arterial pressure (map) and heart rate (hr). inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme with captopril or blockade of at1 angiotensin receptor with losartan, attenuated vasopressor responses to footshocks, while heart rate response was not altered. bilateral nephrectomy suppressed vasopressor response as well the elevation of plasma norepinephrine (ne) and epinephrine (epi) induced by footshocks, and reduced heart rate response. cardiovascular response to stress in nephrectomyzed rats was restored by exogenous administration of a subpressor dose of angiotensin ii. our results demonstrate that in conscious rats cardiovascular response to footshocks is dependent on an active renin-angiotensin system and they indicate that endogenous ang supports the sympathetically mediated vasopressor response to footshocks.

The present study was carried out to assess whether endogenous angiotensin II (ANG) supports sympathetically mediated cardiovascular response to stress in conscious unrestrained rats, using experimental models in which the renin-angiotensin-system was reduced or blocked.
Response acquisition with Delayed Conditioned Reinforcement
Sosa, Rodrigo;Pulido, Marco A.;
Revista mexicana de análisis de la conducta , 2011, DOI: 10.5514/rmac.v37.i2.26141
Abstract: the present study assessed the possibility that lever pressing by rats, will increase, if this response is correlated with the presentation of exteroceptive stimuli, previously paired with primary reinforcement. na?ve rats were exposed to ten 30 minute sessions where a ft 60-s schedule presented food correlated with a 3-s blackout and the operation of the food delivery magazine. after the training phase was over, an acquisition phase began, subjects could receive one of four different schedules for twenty consecutive sessions: 1) crf; 2) fr1, ft 2-s; 3) fr1, ft 5-s or 4) fr1, ft 10-s; nine subjects were exposed to each schedule. results produced by the conditioned reinforcement conditions were compared with conditions where: 1) primary reinforcement was delivered during the acquisition phase, 2) blackout and magazine operation occurred during the training phase but in the absence of food, and 3) subjects remained in the experimental chamber without any programmed stimulus presentation during the training phase. both the primary reinforcement and the conditioned reinforcement conditions produced delay gradients; the latter was considerably steeper than the former. results were discussed in terms of their similarity with previous studies; they were also discussed in terms of the ongoing debate regarding the empirical validity of the conditioned reinforcement concept.

Influence of the Learnt Direction of Reading on TemporalOrder Judgments  [PDF]

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2011.22017
Abstract: Our previous work has shown a leftward bias in the temporal order judgment task (Pérez, García, & Valdes-Sosa, 2008). This pseudoneglect was found in a sample of Spanish-speaking participants who read in a left-to-right manner. The goal of the current study was to examine if the reading related scanning habits modulate the bias observed in the TOJ task. To this aim, we replicated the study with Arabic participants who learned to read in a right-to-left direction. Results showed no lateralization suggesting that reading habit is probably a factor affecting the distribution of spatial attention. We suggested that our failure to obtain a reversed bias might be due to the fact that they experienced both types of reading habits. We also presented a possible explanation of why the finding of pseudoneglect in temporal order judgment tasks is rather unusual.
Sosa,María de las Mercedes;
Abstract: foliar and caulinar anatomy of stemodia hassleriana chodat, a species endemic to paraguay is studied. this species is distinguished from the remaining species of stemodia from paraguay since it presents the stems with collenchyma and six notorious ribs. stem and leaves anatomical structures are described and compared with other species of the genus. some useful characters for the recognition of this species are illustrated.
Ideologías políticas tras la máscara literaria
Gómez Sosa,María Yanet;
Co-herencia , 2008,
Abstract: to begin with, the purpose is to bring forth latent political ideologies ingrained in the discursive weavings of two colombian novels from the xix century regeneration period: de sobremesa by jose asuncion silva and el moro by jose manuel marroquín. in order to achieve that, the figure of the mask is used as one of the ways in which fictional discourse has some bearing on historical discourse. if the mask is unveiled it is not so that the truth emerges but so that its tales meet head-on the tales of history. thus the literary work becomes record, its discursivity re-creates history.

Abstract: we try to identify and recognise a clear and precise outline of the development of childrena′s intentions used by them to communicate, since these are the basic capacities of language, to do this we study the development of these capacities, considering children whose ages range from 9(nine) to 24 months belonging to two different contexts: one down town urban context and the other peripheral urban context. for this research work, we use a theorical base that halliday (1982)starts using in the study and analysis in the communicative intention, the author proposes the concept of basic functions of language, constituted: instrumental regulatory, interactional, personal, heuristic and imaginative becoming more complex in its evolution and other new ones, known as pragmatic and qualitative focuses quantitative methodology is found in the "quasi-experimental" one with this purpose a population of thirty infants between 9 and 24 months of two different sectors in san salvador de jujuy has been chosen. to form both samples we analysed the origin of the little ones that live with their families, that is to say the place they belong to, either an down town urban context (sample a - nurseries) or a peripheral one (sample b - hospital play room) lacking a control group. considering qualitative methodologies, we appeal to an etnografhic focus, because it offers a global dimension of the development of the communicative intention and it articulates with the quantitative methodology also utilised. after studying communicative intentions in little ones we conclude there is a coincidence in the appearance and evolution of the basic linguistic functions described theoretically, with the ones we researched in samples of the basic functions, they are instrumental regulatory and interactive, over the other ones. in every child there appears presymbolic, communicative kinds of behaviour during the personal function, with presymbolic gestures and with preverbals vocalization that went on
