Abstract: the infectious theory to explain atherosclerosis has allowed researchers to advance quickly on the knowledge about pathogenia of cardiovascular disease. even more, the concept of coronary disease as an inflammatory disease has developed new pathways for investigating the ischaemic cardiac. recent investigations suggest that the use of inflammatory markers may help for early detecting patients who present high risk of cardiovascular strokes appearance. also, epidemiological essays have revealed that periodontitis is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease to develop. periodontitis is a source of bacterias or their wastes, and provoke a hyperinflammatory response on the hostage, liberating cytokines for long periods. due to chronicity of both cardiovascular and periodontal disease, they may have some similar ethilogycal ways.

Abstract: bad breath, oral malodour and halitosis they are terms used describe unpleasant odour out from the oral cavity, independently from the source where the odorous can be oral no oral. the majority of bad breath originates within the mouth. they have been attributed mainly attributed to volatile sulfur compounds (vsc) such as hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan and dimethyl sulfide. the primary cause are bacteria gram-negative bacteria that are similar to the causing periodontal diseases. these bacterias produce the vsc by metabolizing epithelial cells, leukocytes, etc., mainly located in saliva, dental plaque. tongue surface is composed of desquamated epithelial cells and bacterias, suggestig that it has the proteolytic and putrefactive capacity to produce vsc. the aim of this review article: (1) to analyze the evidence the importance of the bad breath in the current context, (2) to study the data your etiology and (3) to value the association between the periodontal diseases and the halitosis of oral origin.

Enrile de Rojas,Francisco J.; Buitrago-Vera,Pedro J.; Sicilia-Felechosa,Alberto; Tejerina-Lobo,José Ma;
RCOE , 2006, DOI: 10.4321/S1138-123X2006000100002
Abstract: background: a study is made to evaluate the clinical efficacy, in terms of clinical attachment gained, of two resorbable membranes versus a positive control (non-resorbable membrane), in the treatment of two-three wall intrabony defects. patients and method: we selected 36 patients in whom 43 two-three wall intrabony lesions were detected. prior to surgery we recorded pocket depth and gingival recession (clinical attachment level). after a full thickness flap approach, debridement and measurement of the defects, and instrumentation of the root wall, the membrane was placed. clinical follow-up was carried out after 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks, and 3, 6 and 12 months, with radiological controls after 6 and 12 months. results: a total of 36 defects completed the study, corresponding to 30 patients. after one year a mean reduction in pocket depth of 3.98 mm was recorded, with a 0.17 mm recession increment and a clinical attachment gain (nci) of 3.97 mm. no significant differences were observed between the different membranes used.
On the Concepts of Usability and Reusability of Learning Objects
Miguel-Angel Sicilia,Elena García
International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning , 2003,
Abstract: “Reusable learning objects” oriented towards increasing their potential reusability are required to satisfy concerns about their granularity and their independence of concrete contexts of use. Such requirements also entail that the definition of learning object “usability,” and the techniques required to carry out their “usability evaluation” must be substantially different from those commonly used to characterize and evaluate the usability of conventional educational applications. In this article, a specific characterization of the concept of learning object usability is discussed, which places emphasis on “reusability,” the key property of learning objects residing in repositories. The concept of learning object reusability is described as the possibility and adequacy for the object to be usable in prospective educational settings, so that usability and reusability are considered two interrelated – and in many cases conflicting – properties of learning objects. Following the proposed characterization of two characteristics or properties of learning objects, a method to evaluate usability of specific learning objects will be presented.
The convergence process of dramatic art and dance studies in the European Higher Education Area
María Matilde Pérez García,álvaro Sicilia Camacho
Psychology, Society & Education , 2011,
Abstract: In light of the reform of Spanish higher education in order to achieve higher education European convergence, art studies face a new and twofold challenge. On the one hand, the design and structure of an organizational and operational framework is necessary to allow for the development of art studies in higher education. On the other hand, the design and implementation of curricula is required which have to be evaluated and accredited by agencies to ensure sufficient quality of education. From the analysis of this twofold challenge, the paper suggests some proposals that the administration, the schools and the staff could consider with regard to the special situation that these studies are going through in the process of European convergence.
The bipolar outflow and disk of the brown dwarf ISO217

Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201219206
Abstract: We show that the very young brown dwarf candidate ISO217 (M6.25) is driving an intrinsically asymmetric bipolar outflow with a stronger and slightly faster red-shifted component based on spectro-astrometry of forbidden [SII] emission lines observed in UVES/VLT spectra taken in 2009. ISO217 is only one of a handful of brown dwarfs and VLMS (M5-M8) for which an outflow has been detected and that show that the T Tauri phase continues at the substellar limit. We measure a spatial extension of the outflow of +/-190mas (+/-30AU) and velocities of +/-40-50kms/s. We show that the velocity asymmetry between both lobes is variable on timescales of a few years and that the strong asymmetry of a factor of 2 found in 2007 might be smaller than originally anticipated when using a more realistic stellar rest-velocity. We also detect forbidden [FeII]7155 emission, for which we propose as potential origin the hot inner regions of the outflow. To understand the ISO217 system, we determine the disk properties based on radiative transfer modeling of the SED. This disk model agrees very well with Herschel/PACS data at 70mu. We find that the disk is flared and intermediately inclined (~45deg). The total disk mass (4e-6 Msun) is small compared to the accretion and outflow rate of ISO217 (~1e-10 Msun/yr). We propose that this discrepancy can be explained by either a higher disk mass than inferred from the model (strong undetected grain growth) and/or by an on average lower accretion and outflow rate than the determined values. We show that a disk inclination significantly exceeding 45deg, as suggested from Halpha modeling and from both lobes of the outflow being visible, is inconsistent with the SED data. Thus, despite its intermediate inclination angle, the disk of this brown dwarf does not appear to obscure the red outflow component, which is very rarely seen for T Tauri objects (only one other case).
EFECTOS DE LA COMUNICACIóN INTEGRADA DE MARKETING A TRAVéS DE LA CONSISTENCIA ESTRATéGICA: UNA PROPUESTA TEóRICA Y METODOLóGICA

Estudios Gerenciales , 2009,
Abstract: consequences of integrated marketing communication through strategic consistency: a theoretical and methodological proposal there has been an increasing interest in the area of integrated marketing communications during the last years. however, most studies have mainly focused on the economical and financial effects that this strategy has for companies, while very little is still known about the effectiveness of an integrated marketing communication campaign. by using a strategic consistency perspective, this work presents a series of effects about the influence of an integrated strategy on consumer evaluation of the campaign.
Efectos de la consistencia estratégica del mensaje en el consumidor
Navarro Bailón,María ángeles; Delgado Ballester,Elena; Sicilia Pi?ero,María;
Cuadernos de Administración , 2009,
Abstract: much has been said about the comprehensive management of tools which form the communications mix (integrated marketing communications); however, most of the studies developed in this area have concentrated on an analysis of the economic and financial effects which this form of action may have in businesses, and little has been established regarding the efficacy of an integrated communications campaign from the consumer's point of view. therefore, starting from the strategic consistency of two communications tools (advertising and sponsorship), as a means of integration, this work proposes a set of hypotheses on the effects of an integrated campaign on the processing of information and in the evaluations which the consumer makes of that campaign. through the design of an experiment for a fictitious brand of energising drinks, in which 140 individuals took part, we were able to establish that the campaign produces more favourable effects on the cognitive and affective reactions of the consumer.
Assessment of Motivation in Spanish Physical Education Students: Applying Achievement Goals and Self-Determination Theories
J.A. Moreno, P. Hellín, G. Hellín, E. CervellóA. Sicilia
The Open Education Journal , 2008, DOI: 10.2174/1874920800801010015]
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to identify the different motivational profiles and the existence of differences in perceived competence and physical condition among a sample of 736 students. Different instruments were applied in order to assess sport motivation (SMS), motivational orientation (POSQ), perceived competence and physical condition. Cluster analysis showed four motivational profiles (highly motivated; non-self-determined; moderated self-determined; amotivated). Perceived competence and physical condition manifested significant differences in the four clusters. There were gender and after school sport practice differences in the four clusters too. These results enable physical education teachers to implement segmentation strategies in order to increase the effectiveness of their interventions and achieve more active participation.
