Abstract: barueri is a small country town, located to the west of s?o paulo city. the town offers tax exemptions to companies that set up business there, becoming an important industrial area and cluster. as a consequence, barueri has filled up with paper companies, that is, companies that exist only for formal burocratic purposes, but which do not really conduct their operations there. the task of identifying which companies really conduct their operations in the town is difficult. frequently, a contact with a company with headquarters in barueri results in dealing with a professional accounting office professional which represents it, with the organization effectively being located outside the town. the presbyterian mackenzie university intended to establish relationships with companies of the region, considering the plans of development for the tamboré campus, located in barueri. consequently, it was essential to define a universe and a sample of companies whose operations occurred in the surrounding area of the campus in order to establish partnership programs. it was therefore faced with the challenge of finding which companies were effectively located in barueri, since paper companies have no interest in the development of the campus. how to find them?

One of the main concepts in marketing theory is the perceived quality of services. In order to evaluate the perceived quality in High Education Institutions (HEI), a study of secondary data from a quantitative research was carried out in 2005, in S o Paulo city, in Higher Education Institutions (IES), with both master and doctorate students in institutions ranked 4 or higher by CAPES (Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education). Information has been collected about the profiles of these students, as well as their perceptions regarding aspects of quality of their institutions (HEI). Some distinguishing characteristics among these institutions have been revealed in this study that hopefully can provide insights about the need of redefinition of some marketing strategies with the objective of achieving more competitive market patterns.

The article displays an evaluation of the thermodynamic behaviour of screw compressor rotors with new profiles, obtained with the help of the Scorpath 2000 software. This allows predicting precisely the operation of the compressor, as well as its thermodynamic evaluation, under equal conditions, with the work of other compressors fitted with rotor profiles of other kinds.

Revista de la Facultad de Medicina , 2002,
Abstract: skeletal muscle needle biopsies were obtained from quadriceps femoris muscle in five venezuelan climbers, two months before, and in four of the subjects, one month after an expedition to the himalayas mountains. in the samples, fibre types were determined by the miofibrillar adenosin triphosphatase reaction, and capillaries were stained with the a-amylase-pas reaction. part of each sample was processed for ultrastructural study. the climbers performance was related to the previous state of the muscle. the three subjects that reached the goal of 7100 m altitude were those with normal of slightly altered muscles in the biopsy before the expedition. one month after the descent, muscle showed segmental alterations manifested as atrophy, capillary damage and infiltration of macrophages. no change was found in muscle fibre proportions. it is concluded that performance of the climbers depends on the previous state of skeletal muscle, and that the combined effect of altitude, exercise and cold produced segmental damage in skeletal muscle.

Abstract: in spite of the fact that the fences are traditional and common technology in livestock regions of mexico, we need more scientific knowledge about them. the objectives of this study were to study floristic aspects of the livestock live fences in a basin in the middle of the veracruz state, and to make a comparative analysis of the construction cost in regard to other fences type. in order to analyze environmental conditions on the presence and use of tree species, the methodology consisted in taking some observational trips, botanical samples collection, photographs, and interviews with producers. tree species identification was carried out by specialized literature review, computarized databases consultancy, and comparisons with herbarium samples. as a result, it was obtain a catalog with 87 species from trees, shrubs, palms, and similar plants utilized as poles. the catalog included the botanical description, common names, additional uses, and ecological analysis. it was found two basic fence types, one of them with dead wood, and the other one, with live fences with tree species, both with barbed wire. the construction of the live fences with native trees is more economic than those which are made from dead wood or concrete.

Skeletal muscle needle biopsies were obtained from quadriceps femoris muscle in five venezuelan climbers, two months before, and in four of the subjects, one month after an expedition to the Himalayas Mountains. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/ijerph10010375
Abstract: This study aims to analyse whether any differences exist between the genders with respect to the effect of perceived Job Demands, Control and Support (JDCS model) on how individuals reach high levels of job stress. To do this, the perceived risk of suffering an illness or having an accident in the workplace is used as an outcome measure. The study is based on the First Survey on Working Conditions in Andalusia, which has a sample of 5,496 men and 2,779 women. We carry out a multi-sample analysis with structural equation models, controlling for age and sector. The results show that the generation of job stress has a different pattern in men and women. In the case of men, the results show that only one dimension of the job demands stressor is significant (quantitative demands), whose effect on job stress is weakened slightly by the direct effects of control and support. With women, in contrast, emotional and intellectual aspects (qualitative demands) are also statistically significant. Moreover, social support has a greater weakening effect on the levels of job stress in women than in men. These results suggest that applying the JDCS model in function of the gender will contribute to a greater understanding of how to reduce the levels of job stress in men and women, helping the design of more effective policies in this area.
