Abstract: Este trabalho objetivou testar diferentes doses de Paclobutrazol (PBZ), ethephon e nitrato de cálcio na indu o do florescimento e na produ o da mangueira (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Tommy Atkins, localizada no pomar didático da ESAM em Mossoró-RN, no ano de 1999/2000. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, no esquema fatorial 2x2x3, assim distribuídos: T1 1000 mg.L-1 de PBZ+ 2% de nitrato de cálcio; T2 1000 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 2% de nitrato de cálcio + 1,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon; T3 1000 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 2% de nitrato de cálcio + 3,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon; T4 1000 mg. L-1 de PBZ + 3% de nitrato de cálcio; T5 1000 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 3% de nitrato de cálcio + 1,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon; T6 1000 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 3% de nitrato de cálcio + 3,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon ; T7 1500 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 2% de nitrato de cálcio; T8 1500 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 2% de nitrato de cálcio + 1,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon; T9 1500 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 2% de nitrato de cálcio + 3,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon; T10 1500 mg.L-1 de PBZ+ 3% de nitrato de cálcio; T11 1500 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 3% de nitrato de cálcio + 1,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon.L; T12 1500 mg.L-1 de PBZ + 3% de nitrato de cálcio + 3,0 mL.L-1 de ethephon, com 4 repeti es. A mangueira teve um maior florescimento (81,75%) com 2% de nitrato de cálcio e 1500 mg. L-1 de PBZ, o número de frutos por planta teve seu maior valor (86 frutos) com 3% de nitrato de cálcio e 1500 mg L-1 de PBZ e o peso do fruto foi maior (425,5g) na dosagem de 3mL.L-1 de ethephon. Os produtos aplicados n o diferenciaram entre si em rela o à produ o.

Abstract: this work had the objective of testing distinct concentrations of paclobutrazol, ethephon and calcium nitrate to induce flowering in the production of the mango cv. tommy atkins, located in the didactic orchard of the superior school of agriculture of mossoró. the experiment was developped in the year of 1999/2000. a randomized experimental block design, was used in the factorial scheme 2x2x3; distributed in: t1 1000 mg.l-1 of pbz+ 2% calcium nitrate; t2 1000 mg.l-1 of pbz + 2% calcium nitrate + 1,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t3 1000 mg.l-1 of pbz + 2% calcium nitrate + 3,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t4 1000 mg.l-1 of pbz + 3% calcium nitrate; t5 1000 mg.l-1 of pbz + 3% calcium nitrate + 1,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t6 1000 mg.l-1 of pbz + 3% calcium nitrate + 3,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t7 1500 mg.l-1 of pbz + 2% calcium nitrate; t8 1500 mg.l-1 of pbz + 2% calcium nitrate + 1,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t9 1500 mg.l-1 of pbz.l + 2% calcium nitrate + 3,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t10 1500 mg.l-1 of pbz + 3% calcium nitrate, t11 1500 mg.l-1 of pbz + 3% calcium nitrate + 1,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon; t12 1500 mg.l-1 of pbz + 3% calcium nitrate + 3,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon, with 4 replications. the mango had a larger flowering (81.75% of fruits ) with 2% calcium nitrate and 1500 mg. l-1 of pbz, the number of fruits per plant was the highest (86 fruits) with 3% calcium nitrate and 1500 mg l-1 of pbz and the weight of the fruit was the heaviest (425,5g/fruit ) in the dosage of 3,0 ml.l-1 of ethephon. the applied products were not different among themselves in relation to the production.

Abstract: the objective was to analyze the economic profitability of yellow passion fruit under different plant formations. the experiment was conducted in commercial orchard in the city of lavras, mg (21o 14' s, 45o 58' w, 910 m altitude), for two production cycles (2006 and 2007). the treatments were the formation of plants with different number of tertiary branches (t1= 40, t2= 30, t3= 24, t4= 20 and t5= 14 per plant). the design was randomized blocks with four replications of three plants. the economic and operational costs were higher for more drastic pruning systems (20 and 14 branches per plant), which presented higher production cost and lower productivity. the net income was negative for systems of less tertiary branches (t4 and t5). the systems with less drastic pruning had positive net income ranging from r$ 1,861.06/ha in t3 to r$ 3,895.74/ha (2006/2007) in t2. in t1, t2 and t3 the economic situation result was super normal profits, indicating that the activity is getting returns higher than the best alternatives for capital employment. however, the treatments t4 and t5, results were positive and negative residues, respectively, covering only part of the farming costs, with trend that the producer to seek better alternatives for its capital application, with abandonment of activity.
Diferentes substratos e recipientes na forma o de mudas de mamoeiro 'sunrise solo'

Abstract: Objetivando avaliar a viabilidade de diferentes substratos e recipientes na forma o de mudas de mamoeiro 'Sunrise Solo', realizou-se o presente experimento em condi es de casa de vegeta o, no Pomar da Universidade Federal de Lavras-UFLA. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 4x3, com quatro repeti es e cinco plantas por parcela. Os tratamentos constituíram-se dos seguintes substratos: Plantimaxa; substrato A (esterco de curral + carv o vegetal + solo e areia na propor o de 2:1:1:1 v/v; substrato B (vermicomposto + carv o vegetal + solo e areia na propor o de 1:1:1:1 v/v ) e substrato C (Plantimaxa + carv o vegetal + solo e areia na propor o de 1:1:1:1 v/v); e dos seguintes recipientes: saco de polietileno com de 750 ml, bandeja de isopor com capacidade de 70 ml/célula de capacidade e tubetes de 50 ml. Foram avaliados altura das mudas, número de folhas, matéria fresca e seca da parte aérea e raiz. Pelos resultados, concluiu-se que o recipiente saco de polietileno, juntamente com o substrato A, foram os que apresentaram resultados favoráveis para todas as características avaliadas, e o substrato C proporcionou resultados desfavoráveis ao desenvolvimento das mudas.

Abstract: this research aimed to test top pruning effect on the lowering of plant canopy, pruning the lower canopy on the recover of 12 years old 'ponkan' tangerine tree, 4 meters height, 6 x 4 spaced and grafted on 'cravo' lemon rootstock. this experiment was carried out at vito crincoli's farm in perd?es, mg. it was carried out under randomized plots in a factorial scheme of 4x2, top pruning (without pruning, pruning at 3.0; 2.5 and 2.0 m) and skirt pruning (with and without pruning) with 4 replications. plot size was composed by three plants. heavy pruning of the top canopy lowered the first tree yield, however, and in the begining of the second year, the plants showed a very good recover. the same behavior was seem for the third harvest when several kinds of top pruning did not differ in the yield. skirt pruning treatment was superior to that without any pruning.

Abstract: this research aimed to test top pruning effect on lowering the top canopy and pruning the lower part of the plant on the recovering of 12 years old 'ponkan' tangerine tree. plants were four meters height, 6x4 spacing, grafted on 'cravo' lemon tree. this experiment was carried out at vito crincoli' s farm in perd?es, mg, brazil . it was used a randomized block experimental design in a factorial scheme of 4x2, top pruning (without pruning, pruning at 3.0; 2.5 and 2.0m from soil level) and circumference pruning (with and without pruning) with four replications. the useful plot was constituted of three tangerine plants. after third year of treatment plants that had been under more severe pruning gave higher fruit weight. indicating the used of pruning to recover fruit quality.

Abstract: in order to evaluate the viability of different substrate and recipients at the production of " sunrise soil papaya" seedlings, on experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions at the orchard of the lavras federal university-ufla. the experimental design was entirely randomized in a 2 factors arrangement (4x3), with four replicates per treatment and five plants per plot, totalizing 240 plants. the substrates used were: plantimaxa; substrate a (cattle mature, soil, vegetable coal and sand, at the proportion of 2:1:1:1 v/v); substrate b ( earthworm, soil, vegetable coal and sand, at the proportion of 1:1:1:1v/v) and substrate c (plantimaxa, vegetable coal, soil and sand at the proportion of 1:1:1:1 v/v). the recipients used were: tubes with 50 ml of volume, polystyrene trays with 70 ml of volume per compartment and plastic bags with 750 ml of volume. the seedlings height, the number of leaves and the fresh and dry matter of the roots and aerial part were evaluated. the results showed that the plastic bags and the substrate a presented the best responses for all the characteristics evaluated and the substrate c and the tubes presented unfavorable results to the seedlings development and to the low mineral composition and the low substrate retention capacity, respectively.

Abstract: the experiment was carried out at the department of soil sciences of the universidade federal de lavras - ufla, from june to august 2002, with the objective to evaluate the productivity, the nutritional state and the quality (size class) of lettuce cultivars grown with calcium silicate in greenhouse. the experimental design was disposed in blocks with four replicates, in factorial arrangement with additional treatments: 3 x 4 +3, composed by three lettuce cultivars: raider (group crisphead lettuce); regina (group butterhead lettuce) and vera (group looseleaf lettuce) and four calcium silicate rates (0, 410, 1.000 and 2.000 mg dm-3), additional treatments were composed of the application of calcium carbonate of 1.000 mg dm-3 for the three cultivars. the nutritional status of lettuce was evaluated by diagnosis and integrated recommendation system. the application of calcium silicate fertilizer did not increase the growth of the plants and did not improve the concentration of nutrients in lettuce plants; but improved the lettuce nutritional status for si and increased the percentage of leaves healthy. the application also increase mn concentration, due to high content of mn in the silifértil? fertilizer. the three varieties of lettuce behaved as non-accumulation plants of si.

Abstract: the purpose of this work was to evaluate different planting densities of plants over yield characteristics, fruit quality and economical performance of yellow passion fruit. the experiment was carried out in s?o tiago county, minas gerais, brazil. the treatments used different plants density in the planting row: t1 = 1.0 m (3,330 plants/ha); t2 = 2.0 m (1,660 plants/ha); t3 = 3.0 m (1,110 plants/ha); t4 = 4.0 m (830 plants/ha); t5 = 1.0 m (3,330/1,660 plants/ha) t6 = 1.5 m (2,220/1,110 plants/ha) e t7 = 2.0 m (1,660/830 plants/ha). the treatments t5, t6 and t7, were hewed alternately right after the first crop's harvest. the highest yield was 11.9 t ha-1 in the planting density of 1,841 plants/ha in its first crop, it was about 10.9 t ha-1 average in its second crop and 5.46 t ha-1 in its third crop. the total yield was less in the lower density planting (830 plants/ha), 25.6 t ha-1, and an average of 27.96 t ha-1 for the others treatments. the average fruit weight did not change with planting density, except in the second crop that gave larger fruit in the denser planting. planting density did not alter fruit quality. the average of the three crops for quality characteristics were: fruit average weight (126 g); juice yield (34.9%); total solid soluble (14.6%) and total acidity titratable (4.9%). the most economical efficiency reached was in planting density of 1,110 plants/ha.
Enraizamento de diferentes tipos de estacas de aceroleira utilizando ácido indolbutírico

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the number of leaves and test the effect of different doses of iba (indolbutiric acid) in cutting propagation of acerola. the experimental design was entirely randomized, in a factor arrangement (5 x 3), with five different concentration of iba (0, 1600, 2000, 2400 and 2800 mg.l-1) and three different types of cuttings (without leaves, one pair of leaves and two pairs of leaves). the cuttings were obtained from plants of the ufla's orchard collection, padronized with 15 cm of length and treated with solution of iba for 5 seconds. after that, they were taken to polypropylene trays filled with vermiculite and stayed under greenhouse conditions for 100 days. rooting percentage, roots length, number of leaves and roots dry matter were evaluated. the presence of leaves is important for the rooting of aceroleira cuttings, in cuttings without leaves it didn't occur the formation of roots. aceroleira cuttings with two pairs of leaves, treated with 2800 mg.l-1 of iba presented larger rooting percentage (50%) and length of the roots (9 cm). the concentration of 2800 mg.l-1 of iba provided larger number and dry matter of the roots for aceroleira rooting. the two pairs of leaves in aceroleira rooting provided larger number and dry matter of the roots.
