Abstract: The thermal decomposition reaction of acetophenone cyclic diperoxide (trans-3,6-dimethyl-3,6-diphenyl-1,2,4,5-tetroxane; APDP) at the initial concentration of c.a. 0.01 mol kg-1 and temperature ranges of 135.5 to 185.0° C has been investigated in dioxane and acetonitrile solutions, and in an 2-propanol/benzene mixture.

Abstract: In industry, the bulk free radical polymerization of styrene takes place with the aid of peroxide initiators such as benzoyl peroxide. In this work di- and trimeric cyclic peroxides were used as initiators of the styrene polymerization in order to increase the rate of polymerization and molecular weights simultaneously.

Abstract: The thermal decomposition reaction of cyclic organic peroxides was studied in toluene solution in a wide temperature range. The kinetic data show an important substituent effect on the unimolecular homolysis of the O-O bond of these molecules.

Abstract: cold ischemia is the best known method to preserve kidneys for transplant. however, it produces several detrimental effects. first, cellular necrosis. secondarily, during the hypothermic period a mithocondrial injury process develops which makes the cell entering a pre-apoptotic state. this apoptosis occurs definitively in the reperfusion. preservation solutions currently available are not perfect and are not able to avoid cold-related cell injuries. the adition of certain substances to uw solution (desferrioxamine) has shown experimentally a reduction in mitochondrial cold-related lesions. isolated hypothermic kidney perfusion reduces initial graft dysfunction about 20% in comparison to hypothermic storage. this fact relates to important either economical as functional consequences.
Exponential convergence to equilibrium for subcritical solutions of the Becker-D?ring equations

Abstract: We prove that any subcritical solution to the Becker-D\"{o}ring equations converges exponentially fast to the unique steady state with same mass. Our convergence result is quantitative and we show that the rate of exponential decay is governed by the spectral gap for the linearized equation, for which several bounds are provided. This improves the known convergence result by Jabin & Niethammer (see ref. [14]). Our approach is based on a careful spectral analysis of the linearized Becker-D\"oring equation (which is new to our knowledge) in both a Hilbert setting and in certain weighted $\ell^1$ spaces. This spectral analysis is then combined with uniform exponential moment bounds of solutions in order to obtain a convergence result for the nonlinear equation.

Abstract: we report the results obtained in a experimental work designed to evaluate the consequences of warm ischemia in hypothermic isolated renal perfusion. we perfused a number of kidneys after a period of 45 min of vascular occlusion. an alternative group of kidneys were perfused without previous warm ischemia. ureter was canulated in all the procedures and output collected during the hp. creatinine was added to the perfusion solution initially in order to determine creatinine clearance. hp hydrodynamics was recorded on real time through a computerised system. according to the results, renal vascular resistance as well as crcl were higher in ischemic kidneys. both facts along with minimal differences in pathologic study suggest an increase in vascular tone of efferent-postglomerular arteriole during hp. hp was an adequate technique to minimize histologic consequences of ischemia. mycrovascular an biochemical changes produced during hp may be produced, essentially, by dynamic causes.

Abstract: objectives: to evaluate hydrodynamic, biochemical and pathologic consequences of positive forced pressure on hypothermic isolated renal perfusions in comparison to softly progressive administration of perfusion solution. material and method: 16 hypothermic experimental pig renal perfusion o 180 min completed under constant flow conditions. a vacuum computer-controlled pump was used. a comparison was performed of the results obtained by two groups of organs (forced perfusion pressure -i.b.- and soft perfusion pressure -i.s.). results: even though perfusion flor did not offer significant differences among both groups at the end of the procedure, i.b. group showed medium perfusion pressure and renal vascular resistance values significantly higher. nitric oxide metabolites concentration was also greater in i.b. group. finally, these kidneys showed more tubular cell aedema and glomerular shrinkage in comparison to i.s. group. conclusions: sharp and forced hypothermic perfusion of the isolated kidney don't increase flow perfusion values. inversely, hydrodynamic and pathologic results are worst in comparison to soft and progressive organ perfusion.

Abstract: the thermal decomposition reaction of trans-3,6-dimethyl-3,6-diphenyl-1,2,4,5-tetraoxacyclohexane (acetophenone cyclic diperoxide, dpaf), in different solvents (methanol, 1,4-dioxane, acetonitrile and 2-propanol/benzene mixtures) in the initial concentration and temperature ranges of (4.2-10.5) x 10-3 m and 140.0 to 185.0 oc, respectively, follows a pseudo first order kinetic law up to at least 70% dpaf conversion. an important solvent effect on the rate constant values, activation parameters (dh# and ds#) and reaction products obtained in different solvents is detected, showing that the reaction is accelerated in alcohols.

Abstract: the thermal decomposition reaction of pinacolone diperoxide (dpp; 0.02 mol kg-1) in 2-methoxyethanol solution studied in the temperature range of 110.0-150.0 °c, follows a first-order kinetic law up to at least 50% dpp conversion. the organic products observed were pinacolone, methane and tert-butane. a stepwise mechanism of decomposition was proposed where the first step is the homolytic unimolecular rupture of the o-o bond. the activation enthalpy and activation entropy for dpp in 2-methoxyethanol were calculated (dh# = 43.8 ± 1.0 kcal mol-1 and ds# = 31.9 ± 2.6 cal mol-1k-1) and compared with those obtained in other solvents to evaluate the solvent effect.
