1-[(Bromomethyl)(phenyl)methylene]-2-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)hydrazine
Abdussalam Salhin,Norfarhah Abdul Razak,I. A. Rahman
Acta Crystallographica Section E , 2009, DOI: 10.1107/s1600536809016225
Abstract: The title compound, C14H11BrN4O4, comprises two crystallographically independent molecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In molecule B, intramolecular bifurcated N—H...O and N—H...Br hydrogen bonds and in molecule A, an intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond generate S(6) ring motifs. The dihedral angle between the phenyl and benzene rings is 5.44 (6) in molecule A and 7.63 (6)° in molecule B. The ortho- and meta-nitro substituents make dihedral angles of 6.67 (15) and 2.26 (15)° to the attached benzene ring in molecule A and 6.37 (17) and 5.81 (16)° in molecule B. The Br atom in molecule B is disordered over two positions with a refined site-occupancy ratio of 0.61 (3):0.39 (3). Interesting features of the crystal structure are the short Br...N [3.257 (3)–3.294 (4) ], Br...O [3.279 (3)–3.307 (4) ] and O...O [2.9319 (16)–2.9995 (16) ] contacts, which are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of these atoms. The crystal structure is further stabilized by intermolecular C—H...O and π–π interactions [centroid–centroid distances = 3.6643 (8)–3.8514 (8) ].

International Journal of Morphology , 2012,
Abstract: The cusp of Carabelli trait was first described by Carabelli in 1842. If present, it is seen on the mesial aspect of the mesiopalatal cusp of the deciduous maxillary second molar or permanent maxillary first, second and third molar. The level of expression varies from a mere pit or groove to a well developed cusp. The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of this trait in Abha Secondary School boys in the age range of 15-20 years. 917 subjects without caries or fillings (or missing) in permanent upper first (16/26) and second molars (17/27) were selected out of the 3408 students examined. The trait was recorded as present or absent in 16/26 and 17/27 only as most of the students had erupted premolars and unerupted third molars. The trait was present in 41.7% of the population out of which 82.2% were seen on 16/26 bilaterally. It showed more predilection to permanent maxillary right first molar - 39.4% than permanent maxillary left first molar - 35.8%. Only 3.1% of the population had the trait on 17/27. These results are in contrast with the prevalence studies carried out in Riyadh - 57.6% and Jeddah - 58.7%. Nevertheless, it places the Saudi population in moderate CT prevalence group.
Fuzzy Soft Expert Set and Its Application  [PDF]
Shawkat Alkhazaleh, Abdul Razak Salleh
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.59127
Abstract:

In 1999, Molodtsov introduced the concept of soft set theory as a general mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainty. Alkhazaleh and Salleh (2011) define the concept of soft expert sets where the user can know the opinion of all experts in one model and give an application of this concept in decision making problem. So in this paper, we generalize the concept of a soft expert set to fuzzy soft expert set, which will be more effective and useful. We also define its basic operations, namely complement, union, intersection, AND and OR. We give an application of this concept in decision making problem. Finally, we study a mapping on fuzzy soft expert classes and its properties.

Abstract:

Purpose: This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of restorative materials and glass fiber post on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated premolars. Material and Methods: Fifty extracted single rooted lower premolars were used in this in vitro study and divided into 5 groups: sound teeth (control group); mesial-occlusal-distal (MOD) preparation + endodontic treatment + composite restoration; MOD preparation + endodontic treatment + glass fiber post + composite restoration; MOD preparation + endodontic treatment + amalgam restoration; MOD preparation + endodontic treatment + glass fiber post + amalgam restoration. The specimens were loaded on a universal testing machine at the crosshead speed of1 mm/min until fracture. The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA test. Results: The mean loads at fracture were 860.11 N, 801.79 N, 761.39 N, 737.14 N and 707.85 N respectively. There were no statistically significant differences (P > 0.05) in the fracture resistance of teeth restored with composite and amalgam, as well as restored with or without glass fiber post. Conclusions: The type of restorative material and the usage of glass fiber post do not have visible influence on the fracture resistance of the endodontically treated mandibular premolars.

Abstract: The indicator of urban success is the success of its urban services. Although much research on services have been made, there is major gap with regard to the regional services, especially on urban services within a country. As for urban ser-vices, there are few research on factors influencing urban services and its effect on regional growth. In reaction to this, the government intend to accelerate the development of urban services and regional economy in the present Twelfth Five-Year Plan 2011-2015.Thus, the main purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that influence urban servic-es growth from demand , supply, institutional environment and spatial agglomeration side. By using cross-section mul-tiple regression analysis, the study examine the factors influencing urban services growth in China .The model indicated that except for urbanization, division of labor , other independent variables have contributed positively towards urban services growth in China.

Abstract: The indicator of urban success is the success of its urban services. Although much research on services have been made, there is major gap with regard to the regional services, especially on urban services within a country. As the Chinese government intends to accelerate the development of urban services and regional economy in the present Twelfth Five-Year Plan 2011-2015, the main purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of urban services development on regional growth. By using panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2001-2011 and through GLS estimation of the ran-dom effect panel data model, it is found that the growth of urban services performed rather well in promoting regional economic growth of all of the three regions in China. But the promoting role of urban services on regional economic growth in this three regions were different among which, the role of urban services in eastern region were strongest , followed by central region and weakest in Western region.

Abstract: We conducted a double-blinded, placebo-controlled pilot trial to test the effectiveness of adjuvant tocotrienol therapy in combination with tamoxifen for 5 years in women with early breast cancer. Two-hundred-forty women, aged between 40 and 60 years, with either tumor node metastases (TNM) Stage I or II breast cancer and estrogen receptor (ER)-positive tumors were nonrandomly assigned to two groups. The intervention group received tocotrienol-rich fraction (TRF) plus tamoxifen, whereas the control group received placebo plus tamoxifen, for 5 years.During the 5 years of the study, eight patients died of breast cancer, whereas in 36 patients, a local or systemic recurrence developed. Five-year breast cancer-specific survival was 98.3% (95% confidence interval (CI), 95.9% to 100%) in the intervention group and 95% (95% CI, 91.1% to 98.9%) in the control group, whereas the 5-year disease-free survival was 86.7% (95% CI, 80.6% to 92.8%) and 83.3% (95% CI, 76.6% to 90.0%), respectively. Risk of mortality due to breast cancer was 60% (HR, 0.40; 95% CI, 0.08 to 2.05) lower in the intervention group versus the controls after adjustment for age, ethnicity, stage, and lymph node status, but this was not statistically significant. Adjuvant TRF therapy was not associated with breast cancer recurrence (HR, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.43 to 1.65).From the current study, no association seems to exist between adjuvant tocotrienol therapy and breast cancer-specific survival in women with early breast cancer.ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT01157026.Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant classified into subgroups of tocopherols and tocotrienols. In most food sources, tocopherols are more prevalent than tocotrienols. Palm oil is a particularly rich source of α-, γ-, and δ-tocotrienol [1,2]. Previous studies reported that individual tocopherols and tocotrienols exhibit different potencies in suppressing tumor cell growth and inducing apoptosis in neoplastic mammary epithelial cells [3,4]. West African Journal of Applied Ecology , 2010,
Abstract: Oti river, an important tributary of the Volta lake in Ghana, was chosen as a case study to investigate the variations in the quality of its water at different locations. This was necessitated by the people’s reliance on the river for their domestic and agricultural water use. Composite water samples drawn from some sections of the Oti river were analysed in the laboratory for certain parameters to enable assessment of water quality. The observed results of the laboratory analyses are compared with the 2003 Ghana Raw Water Criteria and Guidelines for domestic use. The results indicated that turbidity, total iron, faecal coliforms and total coliforms were above the limits set out by the 2003 Ghana Raw Water Criteria and Guidelines for domestic use. Thus, the water from Oti river was considered unsuitable for direct human consumption at the sampled locations. Using the Water Quality Index (WQI) Calculator 1.0, the WQI for Oti river was calculated to be 39.3. The WQI indicates that water quality in the Oti river was poor. This implies that the water quality is almost always threatened or impaired; conditions usually depart from natural or desirable levels. Public awareness with respect to the need to boil and/or filter the water before drinking is called for. Sanitary facilities to control river pollution and appropriate water treatments techniques are required in the area to improve the welfare of the riparian dwellers.
