Analysis of Formation in Communicative Competences for the Medical Act in Universidad de Antioquia Medicine School Undergraduate Program  [PDF]
José Antonio García Pereá?ez
Journal of Biosciences and Medicines (JBM) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/jbm.2016.412012
Abstract: This research study was conducted at the undergraduate program of the Medicine Faculty of Universidad de Antioquia. Its main purpose was to analyze the training in communication skills for the medical act. To this purpose, a triangulation between a representative survey of the students, some interviews and focal groups between students and professors, and an analysis of a curricular document on the contents of communication as a generic skill were done. This study allowed us to conclude that the definition of generic competence in communication cannot be established without the participation of the medicine curriculum actors, and that it is paramount to integrate this learning to this university program. The result of the present study is a proposal to include the communicative competence for the medical act in the curriculum of the Medicine Faculty of Universidad de Antioquia.
Ethical and Legal Arguments about Telemedicine in Colombia  [PDF]
José Antonio García Pereá?ez
Journal of Computer and Communications (JCC) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jcc.2017.53013
This paper makes a reflection of humanistic approach about telemedicine in the cyber culture context, including a debate on the “digital era” and the nature of human communication. It is aimed at interpreting the influence of the technological era in the communication between the emitting subjects and receptors that emerge from communicative relations in telemedicine. This is the result of the analysis on legitimacy and legality of Communication for Health among individuals interacting in the cyberspace, mediated and conceived by modern technologies such as computer science, telematics and cybernetics. Telemedicine, according to ethical and legal proposals, can be subject of criticism because of the displacement of the medical doctor-patient relationship. Bigger distance and asymmetries in the medical act are established, being exposed to the inter-subjective relations of the cyberspace that immerses the patient into a deeper vulnerability, mediated by the technology that overflows him. A literature review through the empirical-analytical method, aimed at describing the impact of telemedicine in users, was done. This technology of recent use in Colombia promises to become a tool to support the solution of some health problems. Its development must be linked to the use of regulations that involve the “must be”, and its application must be decided according to legal principles that take on responsibility on medical doctors and technicians. The inevitable development of medical technology and its application in telemedicine may lead to the vulnerability of ethical principles, and consequently, the harm and misinterpretation of the medical act.
Synthesis and Characterization of KFeP2O7 Nanoparticles Implanted in Silica  [PDF]

American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2012.38068
Abstract: Rivers and aquifers are increasingly affected worldwide by the action of agro-industrial pollution. Facing this challenge, nanoparticles have found a wide range of applications in the decontamination and remediation of water, given the characteristics which make them highly reactive to specific substances. One of the simplest ways of gaining access to these particles is through their synthesis over a sufficiently rigid matrix of manageable size. This report describes the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles of iron and potassium diphosphate (KFeP2O7) synthesized on silica gel beads (SiO2). Analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) have been applied in order to determine the mineral phases and morphology of the synthesized compounds. Complementary tests were conducted so as to determine surface characteristics such as specific area by the BET method and point of zero charge (pHpzc) by mass titration. The acid-base titration enabled to determine the adsorptive nature of nanoparticles and their response to a pH range from 1 to 12.
Studies on Trypanosoma rangeli Tejera 1920. IV - A reconsideration of its systematic position
Aez, N.;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1982, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761982000400007
Abstract: the systematic positon of trypanosoma rangeli is reconsidered and the creation of a new subgenus. tejeraia, is proposed to remove this trypanosome from the subgenus herptosoma of the section stercoraria. the characteristics described for the proposed subgenus indicate that it must be located in the section salivaria rather than in the stercoraria. the evidence supporting this proposition is discussed in the text.
Studies on Trypanosoma rangeli Tejera 1920. VII - Its effect on the survival of infected triatomine bugs
Aez, N.;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1984, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761984000200012
Abstract: the pathological effects of trypanosoma rangeli on rhodnius prolixus and r. robustus, and the relation of mortality to infection, were studied under laboratory conditions. frequent observations revealed that when the first instar nymphs of r. prolixus and r. robustus were infected with t. rangeli, survival of the bugs during the stages of development to the adult stage decreased. this decrease was statistically significant when compared with uninfected control-bugs, indicating that t. rangeli is pathogenic for both species of triatomine. in r. prolixus the most affected nymphal stages were the first, second and fifth instars, where a higher mortality was also observed. in r. robustus a progressive increase of the mortality from the first to fifth instars, was observed. the pathogenicity of t. rangeli as measured by overall mortality was the same in r. prolixus and r. robustus. the possible pathogenic mechanism of t. rangeli in triatomine-bugs and its epidemiological implications, are discussed.
Studies on Trypanosoma rangeli Tejera 1920: VI. Developmental pattern in the haemolymph of Rhodnius prolixus
Aez, N.;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1983, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761983000400004
Abstract: the morphological sequence of trypanosoma rangeli development in the body cavity of rhodnius prolixus is described. the metacyclic trypanosome is the product of successive division and transformation during the intra and extracellular development in the haemocoele. the significance of the early invasion of t. rangeli into the haemolymph is discussed. the epidemiological importance of the developmental pattern of t. rangeli in the vectors haemolymph and the host-response to the parasite are considered.
Studies on Trypanosoma rangeli Tejera, 1920: V - Developmental pattern in the alimentary canal of Rhodnius prolixus
Aez, N.;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1983, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761983000200006
Abstract: the morphological sequence of trypanosoma rangeli development in the alimentary canal of rhodnius prolixus, is described, with observation made in dissected guts from 6 hours to 45 days post-infection. no metacyclic-forms are produced in the digestive tract at any time, and transmission by the contaminative route must be considered atypical. amastigotes appear to be an essential stage in the development of t. rangeli in the gut of r. prolixus. the epidemiological importance of the developmental pattern of t. rangeli in the vector′s gut is discussed, and its usefulness for aging infection is considered.
El capital intelectual: Nuevo enfoque de la flexibilización laboral
Aez H,Carmen;
Revista Venezolana de Gerencia , 2005,
Abstract: the aspects to be developed in this paper, refer to the factors that determine the application of labor flexibility, the advantages for capitalization, and intellectual capital as a new form of flexibilización. in order to do this a bibliographical review of theory was undertaken. the results reflect that globalization has had a negative effect on the labor environment, and an example of this is the dismantling of labor relationships, based on the implementation of a flexibilization strategy to diminish labor costs. the manager is considering the value of intellectual capital, because the knowledge level of workers generates more value in companies. the conclusion is that labor flexibilización continues to be effective as a capital strategy. the evaluation of intellectual capital is part of a strategy that pursues increasing the competitiveness of companies, motivating workers to contribute their knowledge to organizations, constructing answers, and innovating and solving problems according to the changes and demands of the market. in spite of this, precariousness continues affecting workers.
Salud ambiental: conceptos y actividades
Ordó?ez,Gonzalo A.;
Revista Panamericana de Salud Pública , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1020-49892000000300001
Abstract: the objective of this study is to provide information and a conceptual framework that will facilitate the work of persons in charge of systematizing institutions devoted to environmental health. the notion of "environment" is examined and a definition is proposed, while a look is also taken at the place held by environmental health within the context of environmental problems and their "green" and "blue" components. a number of definitions are put forth before presenting the official definition of environmental health issued by who in sofia (1993). subsequently a list is presented of the basic areas that have been assigned to the field of environmental health by different organizations or at various meetings, with paho, who, and program 21 among them. from this a rather exhaustive list of areas and subareas is constructed, with the finding that all lists are, in reality, an asystematic grouping of three different components: determining factors (from the physical world), processes (types of interventions), and roles (series of administrative tasks) which can be conceived as a matrix and which allow for the description of individual activities by the environmental health services. certain rules of operation are proposed which make it possible, through a form of algebra, to construct expressions for describing such activities and their aggregates with some precision. thus, it becomes possible to employ a common symbolic language which can facilitate intercommunication, teaching, and research in the area of environmental health.
