Xantogranulomatosis orbitaria: Enfermedad de Erdheim-Chester

Abstract: case report: a patient was studied because of upper lid bilateral edema and xanthelasmae-like lesions after three years of evolution. during the ophthalmologic examination orange-yellowish lesions and two symmetrical tumours were observed on the temporal part of both upper lids. corticoid-therapy was undertaken which reduced the size of the tumours, however the size increased again after the discontinuation of treatment. a biopsy was performed and lid xanthogranulomatosis was diagnosed. other systemic examinations were normal. discussion: erdheim-chester disease is a xanthogranulomatosis that can affect ocular and periorbital structures. combination of xanthelasmae-like lesions and bilateral orbital masses should make us consider this process and try to locate any associated systemic conditions.

Abstract: Caso clínico: Paciente con edema bilateral de párpados superiores y lesiones similares a xantelasmas de tres a os de evolución. La exploración oftalmológica mostraba dos tumoraciones temporales simétricas en ambos párpados superiores con lesiones naranjo-amarillentas. Se pautaron corticoides que hicieron disminuir el tama o de las tumoraciones, con recidiva de los mismos al suspender dicha medicación. La biopsia reveló una xantogranulomatosis palpebral. El resto de las exploraciones sistémicas fueron normales. Discusión: La enfermedad de Erdheim-Chester es una xantogranulomatosis que puede afectar a las estructuras oculares y periorbitarias. La combinación de lesiones similares a xantelasmas y masas orbitarias bilaterales deben hacernos pensar en este proceso y buscar la posible afectación sistémica. Abstract: Caso clínico: Hombre de 52 a os que acudió a urgencias por disminución progresiva de su visión en el ojo derecho. Como antecedentes había tenido nefrectomía derecha por carcinoma renal 7 a os antes y neumonectomía derecha por metástasis 3 meses antes. En la funduscopia se observaba una masa coroidea en ojo derecho, compatible con metástasis. Se realizó enucleación. Durante un a o permaneció sin progresión pero en los últimos seis meses ya ha aparecido. Discusión: Las metástasis coroideas de carcinoma renal son infrecuentes y pueden ocurrir varios a os después de la curación del primario. Su sintomatología es variable y su aspecto poco característico por lo que puede dificultar su diagnóstico diferencial. La actividad de estudio en educación primaria: Valor subjetivo, motivos y autopercepción

Abstract: En este trabajo se indaga acerca de cómo los escolares de Educación Primaria valoran la actividad del estudio, de cuáles son sus principales motivaciones para estudiar, así como acerca de su autopercepción como estudiantes. Participaron 180 alumnos de 2o, 4o y 6o curso de Educación Primaria y para la recogida de datos se empleó un cuestionario con preguntas abiertas y cerradas. Los principales hallazgos indican que los estudiantes de primaria conceden un alto valor al estudio, tanto porque les permite aprender o conseguir mejores resultados académicos, como por su potencial utilidad para la vida futura. Además, la motivación para estudiar es en general elevada e independiente de la percepción que sus profesores-tutores tienen acerca de su motivación académica global y de su rendimiento académico.

Abstract: self-instruction strategy has been recognized as a relevant strategy in cognitive and behavioural regulation as a way of improving attention skills, namely in subjects with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd). this paper aims at demonstrating the effectiveness of this strategy regarding this disorder in subjects with and without adhd as a mean of promoting attention skills, particularly selective and sustained attention. the results showed that subjects who performed the verbal self-instruction strategy presented better results in both attention processes assessed, than those who did not do it.

Estrategias atencionales y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de secundaria

Abstract: Este trabajo tenía como objetivos comprobar la relación entre variables atencionales y rendimiento académico en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y averiguar si el uso de estrategias atencionales varía en función de la edad, grado académico o género de los alumnos. Se aplicó la Escala de Estrategias de Aprendizaje (ACRA) a una muestra de 602 sujetos, y se recogieron sus notas finales en junio. Los resultados confirman que las variables atencionales exploración, subrayado lineal, fragmentación y atención, son las que parecen influir más en el rendimiento académico. El análisis correlacional se ala un ligero decremento en el uso de las estrategias atencionales a lo largo de esta etapa educativa; y las comparaciones por género, indican que las chicas las utilizan más frecuentemente.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to verify the relation between attention variables and academic performance in compulsory secondary education, and to find out if the use of these strategies varies with student's age, academic level or gender. using a sample of 602 compulsory secondary education students, the acra learning strategies scale was applied. year-end marks were gathered in june. results confirm that attention variables - exploration, lineal underline, fragmentation and attention - are those which more directly influence in academic performance. insofar as frequency of use of techniques and attention strategies are concerned, negative correlations with age could indicate a slight decrease in their use during this educational stage; gender comparisons would indicate girls use them more frequently than boys.
