Biosynthesis and regulation of mycolic acids in Mycobacterium tuberculosis--a review

Abstract: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world's deadliest diseases. Approximately eight million individuals develop active tuberculosis annually, and two million die of tuberculosis. The emergence of multi-drug resistance strains, HIV co-infection, and an increasing aging population further worsen this scenario. Mycolic acids (MAs, also mycolate) are integral cell wall components of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, other mycobacterium and most actinomycetes, engaging in the remarkable survival ability of Mycobacterium tuberculosis within infected hosts, virulence and evasion of immunity. The biosynthesis and regulation of mycolic acids are rife with anti-tuberculosis drug targets. First-line tuberculosis drugs such as isoniazid and ethambutol target this pathway. In-depth investigation of this aspect will provide more opportunities to find better measures to combat tuberculosis. To this end, we reviewed the structures, classification, biosynthesis pathway, regulation factors in pathway of mycolic acid, as well as promising drug targets.
毫米波云雷达功率谱密度数据的检验和在弱降水滴谱反演中的应用研究

Abstract: 本文首先利用数值模拟的方法,分析了利用毫米波云雷达功率谱密度反演雨滴谱时,降水粒子米散射效应、空气湍流、空气上升速度等对雨滴谱和液态水含量等参数反演的影响;建立了功率谱密度处理及其直接反演雨滴谱、液态水含量、降水强度和空气上升速度的方法;并利用2012年7月在云南腾冲观测的二次弱降水数据,采用毫米波雷达和Ku波段微降水雷达观测的回波强度、径向速度垂直廓线以及780m高度上的功率谱密度对比的方法,以及毫米波云雷达观测的780m高度上功率谱密度、回波强度与地面雨滴谱计算得到的这些量的对比方法,分析了毫米波雷达数据的可靠性;并将780m高度上毫米波雷达反演的雨滴谱与地面雨滴谱数据进行了对比,分析了毫米波雷达反演的雨滴谱的准确性;分析了毫米波雷达回波强度偏弱的原因,讨论了该高度以下降水对毫米波雷达衰减的影响。结果表明:空气湍流对弱降水微物理参数反演影响不大,而空气上升速度和米散射效应均对反演结果有一定影响;毫米波雷达观测到的径向速度和功率谱密度与微降水雷达比较一致,回波强度的垂直廓线的形状与微降水雷达也比较一致,但毫米波雷达观测的回波强度偏弱;与雨滴谱计算值相比,毫米波雷达观测的低层的回波强度也偏弱,天线上的积水是造成毫米波雷达回波强度变弱的主要原因。毫米波雷达观测的低层的功率谱密度与地面雨滴谱观测的数据形状比较一致,但有一定的位移。毫米波雷达反演的雨滴谱与地面观测的谱型和粒子大小也比较一致。这些结果初步验证了毫米波雷达观测的功率谱密度及其反演方法的可靠性。

Abstract: Proposes a structural model of embedded isomerous multi-processor system, and describes the mechanism of communication of such system. Furthermore, in the case that a signal processing device on TMS320C6416 DSP from TI is used as processing node, in the real-time image processing system based on such embedded isomerous multi-processor system model, a new method of high-speed data transmission between the processing node and the host control node is proposed, by which the data transmission speed is greatly improved.

Abstract: To explore the litterfall and their seasonal dynamics of the four typical forests along the altitudinal gradient in Mt. Shennongjia, Hubei. We measured litterfall of Evergreen broad-leaved forest (EBF), Mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forest (MF), Deciduous broad-leaved forest (DBF), and sub-alpine coniferous forest (CF) in Shennongjia. Litterfall collection was conducted monthly from September 2009 to January 2011. The result showed that the total annual litterfall of the four typical forests along the altitudinal gradient in Mt. Shennongjia was increased and then decreased along the altitude. The annual amounts of EBF was 6 807.97 kg/hm2, MF 7 118.14 kg/hm2, DBF 6 975.2 kg/hm2 and CF 4 250.67 kg/hm2. The seasonal dynamics of litterfall iccurred two peaks during the periods from April to May and November annually. The returns of N from the littlefall of four forests along the elevation gradients were 132.06, 162.29, 157.12 and 185.77 kg/hm2, and that of P was 4.62, 4.39, 8.24 and 4.15 kg/hm2.

Abstract: This study aimed to establish a LC/MS/MS method for the simultaneous determination of andrographolide and dehydroandrographolide in rat plasma and to reveal their pharmacokinetics. After a simple protein precipitation using methanol, andrographolide and dehydroandrographolide were chromatographed on a Lichrospher C18 column using methanol-water (85:15) as the mobile phase. The detection was performed by the selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode via the electrospray ionization source (ESI) operating in the negative ionization mode. The experimental results showed that andrographolide and dehydroandrographolide were completely separated in the chromatographic condition. Both of them had a linear range of 0.02-10ug·mL-1 and LLOQ of 0.02ug·mL-1. This method is simple, sensitive and rapid, and is suitable to the pharmacokinetics study of andrographolide and dehydroandrographolide.

Abstract: Various resource reservation schemes in RSVP-TE (Resource Reservation Protocol-Traffic Engineering) which is the most promising candidate for the signalling protocol of ASON (Automatically Switched Optical Network),viz.FRP (Forward Reservation Protocol),BRP (Backward Reservation Protocol),and the proposed scheme named BRP with Single-Wavelength-Reservation are presented.Based on the simulation and comparative analysis,it is concluded that the proposed scheme takes the advantages of both FRP and BRP.It is of low control overhead and short service set-up time,and can exploit the network resource efficiently and alleviate service blocking probability.
Comparative studies on lignocellulolytic enzyme production in liquid and solid cultures of white-rot fungi

Abstract: Pleurotus sp.2 and Trametes gallica are high-yield strains producing lignocellulolytic enzymes and the enzyme production can peak at an early stage of fermentation of the strains.Comparative studies on lignocellulolytic enzyme production in liquid and solid culture of the strains were conducted.The results indicated that the enzyme activities of manganese-dependent peroxidases(MnPs),lignin peroxidases(LiPs), laccases(Lacs),and hemicellulases(Hcels)were the highest in Pleurotus sp.2 growing on low-nitrogen, high-carbon and high inorganic salt medium.MnPs produced by Pleurotus sp.2 reached the peak in six days. When Pleurotus sp.2 was incubated in wheat straw powder containing the liquid medium of low-nitrogen, no-carbon and high inorganic salt,the activities of manganese-dependent peroxidases and laccases reached the peaks on the tenth day,but the activities of hemicetlulases reached the peak on the 40th day.The enzyme activities of laccases and lignin peroxidases were the highest in Trametes gallica growing on high-nitrogen, low-carbon and high inorganic salt medium,and the enzyme activities of manganese-dependent peroxidases,and hemicellulases were the highest in the fungus growing on low-nitrogen,high-carbon and high inorganic salt medium.When T.gallica was incubated in wheat straw powder containing liquid medium of high-nitrogen, no-carbon and high inorganic salt and containing liquid medium of low-nitrogen,no-carbon and high inorganic salt,the activities of manganese-dependent peroxidases reached the peaks on the tenth day,the activities of laccases and hemicelluloses reached the peaks on the 40th day,and the activities of lignin peroxidases reached the peaks on the 50th day.Facts have proved that Pleurotus sp.2 and Trametes gallica may be excellent candidate strains in biopulping of paper industry.It was shown that the lignocellulolytic enzyme activities produced by and the biomass-degrading ability of Pleurotus sp.2 and T.gallica were high and the highest enzyme activity appeared at the early stage of solid-state fermentation.However,the enzyme-producing mechanisms of the two incubating modes were different.
