Abstract: The article is concerned with the features of Stalin’s repressions study by Soviet, emigrant and modern Russian researchers. Accurate data, concerning the number of political prisoners was not published in the Soviet period and special works on this problem were issued only under perestroika. But primarily the wish to say the truth about the real dimension of Stalin’s crimes was not corroborated by historical sources. It resulted in overstated numbers of tens of millions of Soviet citizens being imprisoned and millions being shot. In recent years the researchers have made a great step forward in studying different types of terror and categories of political prisoners, mechanisms of mass repressive acts execution, dynamics of prisoners number in places of confinement, total number of exiles and deportees. The issue of Books of Condolence in the constituent units of the Russian Federation, the establishment of the Common Database of the Victims of Political Terror in the USSR took the problem research to a new level.

American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2014.515109
Abstract: The complexes of biogenic metals (Zn2+,Cu2+,Co2+,Mn3+,Fe3+) based on meso-tetra(3,5-diisobor- nyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin 1 were synthesized. The electrochemical behavior of these com-pounds was studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and rotating disk electrode (RDE) techniques. The antioxidant activity of complexes was estimated by means of the electrochemical assay based on the hydrogen atom transfer reaction to the stable radical 2,2’-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The RDE method was applied for this process monitoring. It was shown that the efficiency of the metal complexes (Cu2+,Co2+,Mn2+,Ni2+,Fe3+) is practically the same order as that of free base porphyrin 1. However the Zn2+ complex demonstrates significantly higher antioxidant activity, and the stoichiometry of the reaction was determined as σ = 4. The results demonstrate that porphyrin macrocycle can directly affect the antioxidant properties of 2,6-diisobornylphenol.
Evaluating the Relationship between the Banking System Stability and the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process: Evidence from the Egyptian Banking Sector  [PDF]
Karim F. F. Mohamed
Journal of Financial Risk Management (JFRM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jfrm.2018.74020
Abstract: In the repercussions of the latest financial crisis that have occurred on the years 2008-2009, to fortify the stability of the banking systems, policy makers, and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision—BCBS, together with national regulators have built up a few safety measures, and structures to guarantee that banks establishments keep up adequate capital levels through using risk management tools, in specific the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Processes (ICAAP). They all have called for thorough evaluations and assessments for the structure and components of risk management frameworks, tools, and practices whether by banks, regulators, analysts and risk management experts consistently, to ascertain the adequacy of the banking systems, policies, arrangements and techniques for overseeing risks, and guaranteeing the sufficiency of holding appropriate capital levels for confronting normal, as well as adverse and unexpected situations or emergencies. The main objectives of this research study are to shed the light on the ICAAP as one of the main keys of risk management programs, a process by which banks can use to ensure that they operate with an appropriate level of capital, forward looking processes for capital planning covering a broad range of risks across banks, activities beyond simple capital management, and bring together risk and capital management activities in a form that can be used to support business decisions. The research study shall evaluate the significant relationship between the Banking System Stability (dependent variable) and the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP—independent variable) with evidence from the Egyptian Banking Sector.
