Abstract: It is an undisputable fact that our building stock should be revised in order to meet current living standards and codes. However, at the point of refunctioning cultural assets that need protection, the issue of fire safety brings some problems that need resolution. Executing fire safety today, with the latest quality standards may produce various results. We see structures where the application interferes with the building's identity, or the opposite, applications that blend in with the building. There are a number of revisions for fire safety that can be applied to an existing building. The most common application we come across in urban spaces is the fire escape. This study elaborates on good and bad practices of fire escape staircases, investigating examples from Beyo lu, stanbul. In this context, the current situation of fire escape staircases in Turkey is analyzed. Mevcut yap sto umuzun günümüz gerekliliklerine uyarlanma ihtiyac tart lmaz bir ger ektir. Abstract: Gün mimarl n temel girdilerinden birisidir. Tasar mda, gün ile di er fiziksel evre verileri aras ndaki ba kuracak ve gü lendirecek, tasar mc ya destek olacak bilgi da arc n n olu mas gerekmektedir. al mada, gün ile fiziksel evre konular n n mekan ve tasar mla ili kisini kuran bir model geli tirilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Olu turulan “Tasar m Destek Modeli”in de tasar mc n n her tasar m i in fiziksel evre e iliminin farkl olaca kabulü yap lmakta ve Analitik Hiyerar i Y ntemi (AHP)(Analytic Hierarchy Process) kullanarak tasar mc n n e ilimi, tasar mc ile etkile imli olarak belirlenmektedir. Belirli bir mekan i in gün ve fiziksel evre zümlemesi her bir fakt r i in yap ld ktan sonra olu turulan model, belirlenen sorunlara kar tasar mc ya züm alternatifleri sunmaktad r. züm alternatiflerini tasar mc n n tasar m i in de erlendirebilmesi i in yine AHP matematiksel karar verme y ntemi kullan larak, sorunlar ile ili kili bir karar a rl olu turulmaktad r. B ylece geli tirilen model, tasar mc lar n tasarlad klar mekanlarda kullan c konforunu sa lamalar na, mekansal kaliteyi artt rmalar na yard mc olacakt r. As design processes become more and more complex, the expectations architects face become greater and greater. In meeting these expectations and creating high quality spaces, the extent of the architect’ knowledge and how they apply it to their design are obviously important factors. The study discusses the problems concerning day light, the designer and the design process. The “Design Support Model” is constructed with the definiton of its hypotheses and detailed descriptions of the stages of the model. Explanation of how the model will mediate an interaction between the designer and all the daylight-related environment parameters are also included in this part. identify the designer’s tendency. For each factor of the space, the daylight and environment analyses have been made to come up with a model, which provides the designer with alternative solutions to the identified problems. In order for the designer to evaluate these alternative solutions, the AHP method for mathematical decision-making is used, and the relative weights of decision criteria related to problems is formed.

Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2014.713095
Abstract: Interactive patterns are able to promote the notion of reusability in groupware application development. Hence, these patterns support the comprehensiveness of both the interaction design and implementation while easing code modification for groupware application. Groupware is used to describe a broad range of technologies that support person-to-person collaboration. How to design and develop a groupware in an effective manner remains a research question worth exploring. This paper introduces a reusable method, patterns, to develop a single shared display application. Nine different interactive patterns that allow participants to interact collaboratively or non-collaboratively in a single shared display application are introduced in this paper. This is followed by the presentation of our quantitative results on the usability of the interactive patterns and the reusability of the patterns in designing and maintaining a single shared display application. From the results, not only are the patterns useful and easy to understand, the patterns actually ease the process of designing and maintenance during the application development under a single shared display.

Dicle Medical Journal , 2007,
Abstract: In this study, of 3462 cases admitted with cranial trauma between 1992 and 2000. The 115 cases that were diagnosed as extradural haematoma (EDH), were analyzed to obtain the outcome of extradural hematomas. Each patient was evaluated retrospectively in terms of age, sex, and models of injury, localization of the haematoma, origins of bleeding, neurological findings and diagnostic investigations. The outcomes for each patient were retrieved and analyzed, and the chi–square test was used in the statistical analyses.Of all the patients in this group, 88 (76%) were male and 27 (24%) were female, of the patients, 70% were between 10-40 years old. The outcomes showed a significant correlation with Glasgow Coma Scale score, pupillary sizes, and pyramidal signs (p <0.05).The radiologic findings of the the size hematoma, the degree of the brain shift, significantly correlated with outcome (p < 0.05). Factors such as coma, pupil alterations, volume of haematoma, presence of pyramidal signs, midline shift, and lucid interval the existence of local motor findings are risk factors for the outcome in patients with EDH.

Türkiye Fiziksel Tip ve Rehabilitasyon Dergisi , 2012,
Abstract: Ob-jec-ti-ve: The aim of this study was to determine which patients have priority for Bone Mineral Density (BMD) measurement by using osteoporosis risk indices in order to reduce diagnostic costs. Metarials and Methods: BMD at the lumbar spine (L1-L4) and the femur neck was measured using Dual Energy X-Ray absorptiometry in 537 post-menopausal women aged 45 years or older. Risk indices like Osteoporosis Screening Tool (OST), Simple Calculated Osteoporosis Risk Estimation (SCORE), Osteoporosis Risk Assessment Instrument (ORAI), Osteoporosis Index of Risk (OSIRIS) and the WHO Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX) scores were calculated. Sensitivity, selectivity, positive and negative predictive values of the indexes was investigated to detect patients with low BMD. Results: Osteoporosis was observed in34,3% of the subjects. Osteoporosis rate was found to be high in high-risk groups of all indexes. The most effective indices were observed to be OST, SCORE and FRAX-H, in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, positive and negative predicting value. However, in the lumbar region, ratio of patients that can be missed using indexes was not found low enough. Conclusion: In this study, the most effective indices were observed to be OST, SCORE and FRAX-H. The rate of overlooked patients was not low enough in the lumbar area. We believe that, it would be useful to use screening tests for femur osteoporosis. Turk J Phys Med Re-hab 2012;58:212-19.
