ávila Sánchez, Héctor;
Investigaciones geográficas , 2004,
Abstract: this paper reviews and discusses various concepts related to the existence of periurban areas as evidence of the restructuring of the territory within a global context. the practice of periurban agriculture is highlighted as one persisting activity that remains within this symbiotic environment. the need to conduct research from economic and specially rural geography perspectives is laid out, given that periurban agriculture represents a new expression of production in a concrete territory that involves territorial readjustments, mutations and requalification.

Vila Morales,Dadonim; Sánchez Cabrales,Ernesto;
Revista Cubana de Estomatolog?-a , 2009,
Abstract: aim: to present 3 cases of nodular fasciitis in facial area. method: a study was carried out in patients including physical examination, laboratory and radiologic analysis. surgical or medical behavior was described present in each case with an anatomical and the pathological diagnosis was made. results: scientific method was the only route to achieve an accurate diagnosis despite the challenge of diagnosing an uncommon disease entity in maxillofacial surgery. in each patient the course was discussed as well as a literature review. conclusions: the presentation of these cases is very essential since this tumor has a not much location in the face and its fast developmental and clinical course are often difficult to interpret.

Revista Cubana de Estomatolog?-a , 2009,
Abstract: Propósito: Presentar 3 casos de fascitisnodular de región facial. Scattering and diffraction of elastic P- and S-waves by a spherical obstacle: A review of the classical solution
ávila-Carrera, R;Sánchez-Sesma, F. J;
Geofísica internacional , 2006,
Abstract: we re-derive the solution for scattering and diffraction of elastic waves by a single spherical obstacle. a complete catalog for the coefficients in the series' expansions of scattered waves is presented. the classical solution is a superposition of incident and diffracted fields. plane p- or s-waves are assumed. they are expressed as expansions of spherical wave functions which are tested against exact results. the diffracted field is calculated from the analytical enforcing of boundary conditions at the scatterer-matrix interface. the spherical obstacle is a cavity, an elastic inclusion or a fluid-filled zone. a complete set of wave functions is given in terms of spherical bessel and hankel radial functions. legendre and trigonometric functions are used for the angular coordinates. results are shown in time and frequency domains. diffracted displacement amplitudes versus normalized frequency and radiation patterns at low, intermediate and high frequencies are reported. synthetic seismograms for some relevant cases are computed.

Abstract: in venezuela for several decades, graduate school town planning students have focused on urban problem studies, simulation models and plans to ?solve? problems. in most venezuelan cities, urban planning has often not been implemented. even worse, curricula have underestimated methods for structuring problems and for making decisions under pressure and with little data. however, over the last decade, some professors have introduced workshops on the strategic choice approach of j. friend and a. hickling (2002) in the master?s course in town planning policies and local action at the instituto de urbanismo of the universidad central de venezuela. the aim is to allow students to make proposals for the immediate improvement of downtown zones in caracas as there is not enough time to make and approve ?plans?. this case study, the solid waste management in downtown caracas, results from work carried out with professors and students for the libertador municipality. this experience allowed us to make immediate proposals for the decision takers in a short period of time, jointly with the agencies involved in the problems, as well as to identify mid-term studies.

Abstract: reduce medical errors and improve health processes is a priority of all health personnel. in this context arise the "clinical support systems for decision making" (cdss), which are a key component in computerization of the clinical layer. with the evolution of technologies, large amounts of data have been studied and classified based on data mining. one of the main advantages of using this in the cdss, has been its ability to generate new knowledge. for this purpose, this paper presents, by combining two mathematical models, a way to contribute to the diagnosis of diseases using data mining techniques. hypertension was taken as a case study to show the models used. the research development methodology follows the most used processes of knowledge discovery in databases: crisp-dm 1.0, and relies on the free distribution tool weka 3.6.2. we obtained different patterns of behavior in relation to risk factors for developing hypertension using data mining techniques.
Sánchez Cabrales,Ernesto; álvarez Arredondo,Blanca; Vila Morales,Dadonim;
Revista Cubana de Estomatolog?-a , 2010,
Abstract: the giant cells reparative granulomas (gcrg) is a reactive and aggressive process appearing more frequently in anterior sector of mandible and maxilla in children and young adolescents accounting for the 1 % of tumor bone lesions. there is a considerable controversy if they are benign or reactive lesions from the point of view of its origin, from its clinical and histological features as well as therapeutical. this is the case of a patient seen in external consultation of maxillofacial surgery of the "juán manuel márquez" children and university hospital at october, 2007 in whom an extent lesion diagnosed as an aggressive gcrg provoked a facial deformity and osteolysis of mandibular body. complementary, physical and iconopathographic examinations were made as well as surgical treatment and analysis of this sample. patient has neither aesthetic alterations nor functional. there was no relapse after 30 months of follow-up. we made a review of more update literature in med line, lilac and google websites with the giant cells reparative granulomas as key words in english and spanish languages, to compare our procedures and results with other reports.
