The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is an uncommon neoplasm derivative of the odontogenic epithelium containing canalicular structures with inductor modifications of variable intensity in the conjunctival tissue. It is a slow growth lesion and no much invasive but that may to be similar to other odontogenic lesions more aggressive including the dentigerous cyst and the ameloblastoma among others. Its classical location (upper canine area) guides us to diagnosis and its duct histological pattern is very typical of this tumor. Other tumors included in this group are the ameloblastic fibroma, the ameloblastic odontoma, the calcified odontogenic cyst and composed and complex odontomas. This group of lesions may or not to have formations of hard tissue inside. Thus, authors present the case of a patient presenting with this type of tumor making a histopathology study, a literature review on this benign odontogenic tumor and its clinical radiographic features, treatment, as well as the differential diagnoses to be into account.

Abstract: In the last few years, the cloud computing model has moved from hype to reality, as witnessed by the increasing number of commercial providers offering their cloud computing solutions. At the same time, various open-source projects are developing cloud computing frameworks open to experimental instrumentation and study. In this work we analyze Eucalyptus Community Cloud, an open-source cloud-computing framework delivering the IaaS model and running under the Linux operating system. Our aim is to present some of the results of our analysis and to propose some enhancements that can make Eucalyptus Community Cloud even more attractive for building both private and community cloud infrastructures, but also with an eye toward public clouds. In addition, we present a to-do list that may hopefully help users in the task of configuring and running their own Linux (and Windows) guests with Eucalyptus.
Ortega Olivares, Mario;
Argumentos (México, D.F.) , 2009,
Abstract: this article discusses the possibilities and limitations of photographic images in field research. it acknowledges that social observation has always depended on a sociological perspective that focuses on the horizon from the viewpoint of reason. innocent perspectives that reveal themselves through the immediacy of the iconic message are criticized. since visual sociology should extend beyond the phenomenological perception of images, the author recommends an adequate balance between text and image in social research. and two paradigmatic cases are presented for the methodology used in anthropology and sociology: el carácter balinés by margaret mead and bateson, for anthropology, and gender advertisements by erving goffman, for sociology.
Ortega Olivares, Mario;
Nueva antropología , 2010,
Abstract: the towns established at the outskirts of mexico city prior to the spanish conquest, and others refounded in colonial times, call themselves "original peoples". after the abolition of municipal jurisdictions in the federal district in 1928, local authority was left undefined in these communities. before this, local authorities were elected via the communities' traditional ways and customs system at public assemblies and then properly legalized. deputy delegates or coordinators are still elected by the communities, but they are subordinated to the chief delegate due to their lack of proper legal standing. this paper includes a commentary on interviews with 34 original peoples' authorities. it also analyzes the legal context of a proposed indigenous act for mexico city.

Abstract: Background Fat mass and obesity (FTO) and melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) and are relevant genes associated with obesity. This could be through food intake, but results are contradictory. Modulation by diet or other lifestyle factors is also not well understood. Objective To investigate whether MC4R and FTO associations with body-weight are modulated by diet and physical activity (PA), and to study their association with alcohol and food intake. Methods Adherence to Mediterranean diet (AdMedDiet) and physical activity (PA) were assessed by validated questionnaires in 7,052 high cardiovascular risk subjects. MC4R rs17782313 and FTO rs9939609 were determined. Independent and joint associations (aggregate genetic score) as well as statistical and biological gene-lifestyle interactions were analyzed. Results FTO rs9939609 was associated with higher body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and obesity (P<0.05 for all). A similar, but not significant trend was found for MC4R rs17782313. Their additive effects (aggregate score) were significant and we observed a 7% per-allele increase of being obese (OR = 1.07; 95%CI 1.01–1.13). We found relevant statistical interactions (P<0.05) with PA. So, in active individuals, the associations with higher BMI, WC or obesity were not detected. A biological (non-statistical) interaction between AdMedDiet and rs9939609 and the aggregate score was found. Greater AdMedDiet in individuals carrying 4 or 3-risk alleles counterbalanced their genetic predisposition, exhibiting similar BMI (P = 0.502) than individuals with no risk alleles and lower AdMedDiet. They also had lower BMI (P = 0.021) than their counterparts with low AdMedDiet. We did not find any consistent association with energy or macronutrients, but found a novel association between these polymorphisms and lower alcohol consumption in variant-allele carriers (B+/?SE: ?0.57+/?0.16 g/d per-score-allele; P = 0.001). Conclusion Statistical and biological interactions with PA and diet modulate the effects of FTO and MC4R polymorphisms on obesity. The novel association with alcohol consumption seems independent of their effects on BMI.
