Abstract: This article discusses the evolution of telework in European countries and in Spain in recent years in terms of the extent to which it has been implemented and which sectors and activities have been most affected. It also presents the state of the art of the regulation of telework in the context of the EU since the European Framework Agreement on Telework in 2002 and informs about the strategies that social actors and the Administration have adopted to mitigate the lack of of regulation of the practices associated with telework.

Abstract: In this article, we present an analysis of the data retrieved from the Survey onIncome and Living Conditions. A gender-based poverty study was carried out, startingfrom the evolution of global taxes, together with factors that can explain thedifferences between the poverty variable affecting men and the poverty variableaffecting women in Spain. Considering these data, it was deemed necessary toexamine the concept of feminisation of poverty and its empirical basis. We concludethat, although slightly higher poverty levels can be noted in the case of women, compared with men, in accordance with the quantitative data, this difference is notsufficiently significant to indicate that we are dealing with a feminisation of poverty –understood as a process in which differences between poverty among women andpoverty among men increase incrementally. Based on our study, we consider that thesimple presence of a poverty differentiation between men and women is not sufficientto conclude that poverty is undergoing a process of feminization.

Abstract: We present here the results of an investigation carried out in 2008 and sponsored by the archdiocese of Tarragona, which analyzes the social mission of Catholic institutions. The initial hypothesis was that the social mission depended on the degree of decentralization of the Catholic institutions. The research design combined qualitative and quantitative techniques. The analysis of the information led to the conclusion that religious institutions are organized in the form of a constellation, which is precisely the reason why they are so effective at complying with such an extensive and intense social mission.

Abstract: In this article we present the results of a study carried out in primary and infant schools in the region of Tarragona. In this study we analysed the development of the relationship between the autochthonous and the non-EU immigrant populations within the framework of education action. We also observed the practices carried out by teachers and schools for tackling any problems due to the effects of immigration. The study combined quantitative techniques (577 questionnaires completed by primary and infant teachers) and qualitative techniques (118 in-depth interviews with the head teachers of all the schools with non-EU immigrant pupils and various discussion groups in which teachers and immigrant and autochthonous parents all took part).

The concept of the feminization of poverty means that poverty largely affects women. Nevertheless, this feminization is not reflected in conventional measurements of poverty and, even when it is quantified, one of the fundamental elements for explaining this feminization is not taken into account: namely, the position of women in the social structure and their structural vulnerability. That is to say, the gender perspective.

Abstract: Extravasation of contrast is a possible complication of imaging studies performed with contrasts. Most extravasations cause minimal swelling or erythema, however, skin necrosis, ulceration and compartment syndrome may occur with extravasation of large volumes of contrast.A case report is presented in which significant extravasation of contrast was caused while injecting the contrast intravenously into the back of the hand of a 50 year old patient during computed tomography. The patient was undergoing chemotherapy. The patient developed a compartment syndrome and a fasciotomy was required. Treatment options are outlined and emphasis is made on prevention of this iatrogenic complication. Some of the preventive measures to avoid these complications include use of non-ionic contrast (low osmolarity), careful choice of the site of intravenous administration, and close monitoring of the patient during injection of contrast to minimize or prevent extravasation injuries. Clear information to patients and prompt recognition of the complication can allow for other non-surgical treatment options than the one required in this case.Subcutaneous extravasation is a known complication of intravenous administration of iodinated contrast[1]. Various studies consider the rate of extravasation during CT in figures ranging from 0.03% - 0.17%[2-4]. With the systematic use of mechanical injectors, different studies have shown increasing rates of extravasation with figures ranging from 0.25% to 0.9%[5]. The clinical experience is very variable. Most cases of subcutaneous extravasastion occur due to small volumes of extravasation of contrast causing pain, minimum swelling and localized erythema, that is rapidly decreased[1]. If larger volumes are extravasated, extensive tissue and skin necrosis may occur[1,3].Compartment syndrome located in the hand may also be associated with extravasation of large volumes of contrast[6,7]. We present a patient who developed a compartment syndrome in her ri

Abstract: the concept of quality has been linked to the health care world since the remote past and is one of the strategic elements on which the transformation and improvement of modern health systems is based. study of quality in health care involves different approaches given that it holds different meanings for patients, professionals and managers. in recent years formal systems of quality management have been progressively introduced, such as certification according to the iso-9000 norms, the system of accreditation of the joint commission on accreditation of healthcare organizations (jcaho) and the european model of excellence (efqm). management by processes is another tool directed towards achieving the aims of total quality in the care process and tackling health problems centred on the patient. quality health care involves evidence based clinical practice; based on current scientific knowledge, following clinical practice guidelines based on evidence, with the least risk for patients and relatives, involving greater efficiency and greater satisfaction for users and health personnel. the accreditation of health care centres and services is, without doubt, the most widely accepted method for guaranteeing quality. it can be defined as the process of external evaluation to which a health organisation is subjected, based on a review of certain accepted criteria and standards, whose fulfilment demonstrates that that centre is developing its functions within parameters of quality that at least approach excellence.
