Revista chilena de obstetricia y ginecología , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-75262012000200013
Abstract: preterm deliveries are considering the main cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality, mainly those born before 32 weeks of gestational age. however, those born between 34-36 weeks, until recently managed as a low risk newborn, now are defined as late preterm and are considered as high risk children. this review shows a summary of current international evidence related to epidemiology, morbidity and mortality of late preterm, encouraging the concept of high risk of this group not only in neonatal period, but also in long term outcome.

Preterm deliveries are considering the main cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality, mainly those born before 32 weeks of gestational age.

Moisés, José álvaro;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64452005000200004
Abstract: the article analyses three issues around the debate on the relationship between trust and democratic institutions: 1) what is the right approach to the concept of citizenship, considering the controversy between the classic liberal conception and the comunitarist one?; 2) what to say about the traditional democratic theories's premises, that we should expect from the citizens distrust rather than trust, if we want to keep political power in its proper limits; 3) if we admit trust, how our knowledge of it could be enhanced in seeing it as a many-dimensional, instead of one-dimensional, phenomenon?

Os significados da democracia segundo os brasileiros
Moisés, José álvaro;
Opini?o Pública , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-62762010000200001
Abstract: 20 years after democracy was reestablished in brazil, brazilians give support to the democratic regime but distrust public institutions. the paper exams the meanings of democracy according to common people's answers to an open-end question: "what is democracy?", included in surveys undertaken by the author in 1989, 1990, 1993 and 2006. bivariate and multivariate statistical analyses were undertaken in order to advance the knowledge about the meanings of democracy, its determinants and the nature of the growing normative adherence to the democratic regime in the country. data has shown that brazilians define democracy in terms of liberties, freedom and institutional procedures; surprisingly the dimension relative to social benefits has no important impact on the results. both definitions, related to a normative and a pragmatic perspectives, are relevant for democratic consolidation and the quality of democracy, and are integral components of the democratic process.
A desconfian?a nas institui??es democráticas
Moisés, José álvaro;
Opini?o Pública , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-62762005000100002
Abstract: several studies show that brazilians support the democratic regime per se, but, at the same time, reveal a widespread and persistent mistrust of democratic institutions. the author begins presenting the foundations of the contradictory coexistence of both phenomena and after that he reviews the treatment given by literature on political trust and the factors related to it (as political legitimacy and economic performance of governments), pointing limits. he also proposes that trust in institutions is rooted on the evaluation citizens make, based on their experience, about the way institutions perform the mission for which they were created.

DC PAPERS : Revista de Crítica y Teoría de la Arquitectura , 2012,
Abstract: This article wants to go more deeply into the future of the architecture throughthe link settled by Heidegger in his Darmstadt lecture between “to build” and “to dwell”.Looking through the text, we found that the connection between dwell and build, analysedunder the perspective of different contemporary approaches to the architectural space,can offer us new ways to understand the architect field of activity, without coming out ofhis powers. That the architecture depends on the dwell, implies an overall rereading ofthe physical environment as well as the social one. If we take these links to it’s ultimateconsequences, we can broaden the scope of intervention of the architect to the significant,symbolic and emotional… space, without leaving the concrete, without detaching it from“the place” as the subject of architecture.
