DETERMINANTES Y CARACTERíSTICAS DE LA OFERTA DE COCAíNA EN COLOMBIA (1989 - 2006)
SANDOVAL,LUIS EDUARDO; LóPEZ,áNGELA; CáRDENAS,CAMILO;
Revista Facultad de Ciencias Económicas: Investigación y Reflexión , 2009,
Abstract: one of the main problems of colombia since the end of xxth century has been illegal drug trafficking of cocaine to the united states and the rest of the world. this has led to devastating consequences for colombian population, such as maintenance of armed conflict and forced displacement. the coca eradication has been made through the implementation of different methods, but unfortunately, none of them has been totally effective. at this point, it is essential to outline the importance of colombian supply over foreign demand of cocaine, considering that, in order to provide a solution from the inside of the country, the determinants which affect supply of cocaine to the united states must be clear. therefore, the objective of this document is to study and analyze the characteristics of cocaine market between colombia and the united states due to its importance in social, economic and environmental issues in colombia.

Acta Agronómica , 2010,
Abstract: random amplified polymorphic dna (rapd) markers were used to study genetic diversity on red tilapia (oreochromis sp.) species collected from five fish farms located in the valle del cauca, colombia and to determine the level of introgression from three parental species o. mosambicus, o. niloticus and o. aureus into local oreochromis populations. from the 25 rapd primers evaluated, eight were polymorphic and 109 banding patterns were observed, any of them were specific. the expected levels of heterozygosis (0.1964 to 0.2561) and genetic structure (gst = 0.22) funded for oreochrosmis sp. indicate high grade of polymorphism and genetic structuring. this results were observed following the analysis of molecular variance [amova] (fst = 0.268 (p <0.0001) and multiple correspondence analysis (gst = 0.040). the values of genetic similarity, the analysis of group, the analysis of multiple correspondence and the level of introgression, indicated that the differences in the introgression levels(p=0.0001) were significant). the low level of observed genetic differentiation among populations, could be the result of fish with the same genetic origin, whereas the high variation within populations can be displayed by handling practices and the pressure of selection to favor commercial phenotypes. the level of introgression among fish factories is significant for o. aureus, whereas species of o. niloticus and o. mosambicus are introgressed of similar way to the populations of oreochromis sp.
Wildlife trading: a conflictive relationship between human and fauna Tráfico de animales silvestres: una conflictiva relación entre los humanos y la fauna

Conexión Agropecuaria JDC , 2012,
Abstract: This study re analyzes the participation of bioethical issues involved in the conflicts that come out from the relationship between humans and wildlife, as a consequence of the smuggling in Colombia. This proposal of theoretical approach characterizes the trade of wildlife in the country. It also describes and analyzes some of the problems associated with this activity. The results showed that there is a lack of knowledge regarding ecosystem elements as well as the existing legislation in this matter. This causes an inappropriate use of the biotic resources. This study also found that the trade of goods from wildlife derived resources can contribute to have a more sustainable environment and to improve the living conditions of the communities involved. To obtain these benefits, it is necessary to develop strategies where the different participants get together and come out with an educational and joint plan that targets preventive measures.It is further proposed that the humanity is directly responsible for safeguarding and the proper use of wildlife, thus, ethical responsibility and authority in this regard should be shared by the human groups affected, as wells as the governmental institutions. This attitude aims to harmonize the conflictive relationship between humans and the biological resources, since this may be the only way to maintain ecosystemic balance and thereby protect the human communities associated. This approach will lead to the preservation of diversity not only in biological but also in cultural terms. Finally, we propose that an ethical intervention of current and future professionals is required, so they can make joint decisions in which the non-human world is also considered.
DIVERSIDAD Y ESTRUCTURA GENéTICA DE TRESPOBLACIONES AFRODESCENDIENTES DEL SUROCCIDENTECOLOMBIANO A PARTIR DE 8 STR’S.

Acta Biológica Colombiana , 2010,
Abstract: to estimate the diversity, structure and genetic flow in three colombian southwest afrodescendent populations (buenaventura, mulaló y tumaco), the alleles revealed by 8 autosomal str’s were analyzed in 78 no related individuals, by the use of pcr and comparison with specific allelic ladders for every system resolved by polyacrylamide gel (8%). the results were compared with 2 amerindian populations (awa-kuaikier and coyaima) and 2 mixed colombian populations (valle del cauca and cauca). for the afrodescendent and amerindian populations was found moderate diversity (h between 0.768±0.414 and 0.796±0.424), in contrast, the mixed population showed higher rates (>0.803), which is probably caused by mixing with amerindians, that also can explain the high endogamy seen in mixed populations. the amova exhibited moderate genetic structure between the afrodescendent populations (fst= 0.098; p<0.05), but higher between the three ethnical groups compared (fst=0.26723; p<0.05). the closer genetics distances are in favor of tumaco and buenaventura, supported for the migration rate found (34.298), which was the same inside of amerindian and mixed populations. maybe, because mulaló is a closed isolated population, its differences in front others afrodescendent populations are explained. the neighbor-joining tree showed nearest relations among amerindian and mixed populations, furthermore, the ancestral character for the afrodescendents. that sustains the idea of genetic flow maintained between the 3 ethnical groups, principally between amerindian and mixed populations, supported because the genetic differences, migration rates and amerindian matrilineality reported in the literature.

Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2004,

Abstract: the efficiency of the mosquito magnet liberty plustm (mmlp) trap was evaluated in comparison to human-landing catches (hlcs) to sample anopheline populations in jabillal, state of bolivar, southern venezuela. the village comprised 37 houses and a population of 101; malaria in this village is primarily due to plasmodium vivax and the annual parasite index is 316.8 per 1,000 population. a longitudinal study was conducted between june 2008-january 2009 for three nights per month every two months between 17:30 pm-21:30 pm, a time when biting mosquitoes are most active. anopheles darlingi and anopheles nuneztovari were the most common species collected by both methods, whereas anopheles marajoara was more abundant according to the hlc method. the mmlp trap was more efficient for collecting an. nuneztovari [63%, confidence interval (ci): 2.53] than for collecting an. darlingi (31%, ci: 1.57). there were significant correlations (p < 0.01) between the two methods for an. darlingi [pearson correlation (r2) = 0.65] and an. nuneztovari (r2 = 0.48). these preliminary results are encouraging for further investigations of the use of the mmlp trap for monitoring anopheline populations in remote malaria-endemic areas in the amazon basin.
