General retention time formulae for gradient liquid chromatography with any combination of isocratic, linear and stepwise gradients

Abstract: The ideal model of liquid chromatography in gradient elution was solved by using the characteristic approach on the assumption of a linear solvent strength model. By considering the influence of the dwelling time of the chromatographic system on retention time, the retention time formulae suited for any combination of isocratic, linear and stepwise gradients were obtained. It was found that the values of the retention time obtained from these formulae were in well accordance with those computed by using the finite-difference method, which confirms the validity of the formulae. Due to the simplicity and broad scope of applications, these formulae can be easily applied in practice.

Abstract: Biofilm has great influence for bacteria to resist the harm from outer environment. Its forming and development are controlled by many different genes. In this research, an insertional mutagenesis library of a wide type Bacillus amyloliquefaciens NK10.BAhjaWT was built via mini-Tn10 transposon system to find out genes involved in biofilm formation. Four such genes have been screened, in which, citB, citG, gpsA are all related to the energy metabolism. The function of another gene of yvfB is unknown. In a word, mini-Tn10 transposon system was proved to be efficient and stable in Bacillus.

Abstract: Bacillus are well known antibiotic producers. In this study, dozens of Bacillus strains from different sources were screened. Among them, a strain with strong antifungal activity was found. With 16S rDNA test and Biolog assay, this strain was identified to be Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The fermentation conditions were optimized in small conical flasks. After ammonium sulfate salting out, dialysis, freezing vacuum dehydration, the crude protein extracts were obtained. The thermal stability, pH stability, protease stability, ion stability and antifungal spectrum of this protein were studied further. Scanning electronic microscope was also used to explore the antifungal mechanism.

Abstract: Flow pattern defects(FPDs) in as-grown and rapid thermal annealed heavily Sb-dop ed silicon wafers was investigated. The experimental results show that the dens ity of FPDs can be reduced after high temperature annealing, and H2 is the most effective annealing atmosphere. The mechanism of elimination of FPDs is also discussed from the relationship between heavily doping Sb and interstit ial oxygen concentration. The heavily doping Sb influences not only the distribu tion of initial oxygen concentration in CZSi wafer, but also the formation and h eat behavior of grown-in void defects.

Abstract: Saline land improvement is important in offsetting contradictions between increasing population and declining soil areas. It enhances the quantity and quality of farm production, improves ecological environment and promotes regional development of sustainable agriculture. This study determined the effects of localized saline-alkali soil amendments on heavy saline-alkali soil. The experiment used alfalfa as trial crop to investigate the effects of desulfurized gypsum, Guochan-1 and Guochan-2 amendments on soil physical and chemical property and the emergence rate and fresh yield of alfalfa in waste saline-alkali soils with heavy soda. The effects of desulfurized gypsum on heavy metal contents of soils and leaves and stems of alfalfa were also investigated under field conditions. The experiment was conducted in a complete randomized design with four replicas of each treatment. Four treatments were control (without amendment), Guochan-1 (application rate of 2 250 kg·hm-2), Guochan-2 (application rate of 7 960 kg·hm-2) and desulfurized gypsum (application rate of 22 500 kg·hm-2). The results showed that compared with the control, soil pH reduced by 0.11~1.46, soil density declined by 0.01~0.06 g·cm-3 and porosity increased by 1.15%~10.15% after application of soil amendments. Furthermore, amendments improved soil perviousness and soil physical and chemical properties. Alfalfa emergence rate increased by 18.4% to 31.7%, fresh biomass of the three crops increased by 18.9%~43.5% and yield significantly increased under amendments over the control. Soil and plant Hg, Pb and Cr contents were significantly influenced by desulfurized gypsum and Guochan-2 appli-cations. Among the three amendments, Guochan-2 amendment produced the best effects regarding saline-alkali soil improvement. Whereas heavy metal content did not exceed Grade-II Soil National Standard for Agricultural Environment Quality, alfalfa Hg, Cd, Pb and Cr contents were within National Standard for Feed Qygienic Quality. This research suggested that among the three sa-line-alkali soil amendments, Guochan-2 produced the best effects. It was therefore recommended for wide application in similar sa-line-alkali soil conditions.

Abstract: 以CuⅡ-[N-(4-vinylbenzyl)]iminodiaceticacid为功能单体、三甲氧基丙烷三甲基丙烯酸酯为交联剂、甲醇为聚合溶剂,制备了L-扁桃酸的金属配位分子烙印聚合物。用它作为色谱固定相,系统考察了流动相的pH、甲醇含量以及缓冲溶液的浓度对其手性分离能力的影响。在中性或弱碱性(pH7~9)流动相条件下,L-扁桃酸的金属配位分子烙印聚合物对D,L-扁桃酸的手性分离效果最好;其手性分离能力随流动相中甲醇含量和缓冲溶液浓度的增大而增强。本研究的工作为在极性溶剂中制备高选择性的分子烙印聚合物提供了实践支持。

Abstract: The application of wholemount clearing techniques with different clearing agents and clearing methods in plant biology are illustrated by three examples: measuring lateral root primordium number in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), recognizing compatibility between pollen of common goldenrod (Solidago decurens) and the stigma of goldenrod (S. canadensis), and observing the development of the ovule of Conyza sumatrensis. This article reviews applications in plant biology research, especially of plant reproduction biology, and advantages and disadvantages of the whole clearing techniques. Some technique details such as the choice and use of clearing agents and association with specific microscopes are discussed.

Abstract: Constructing convex hull of planar point set is a basic algorithm in computational geometry.Although the number of current algorithms is increasing,most of them are quite complex.In order to reduce the algorithm complexity,the paper starts with analyzing the Plus or Minus Characteristic of Demarcation of a straight line.The purpose of step is to partition planar point set and to simplify the calculation distance from a point to a straight line.Then an improved algorithm is given which is seeking the convex hull of an arbitrarily distributing planar point set.This algorithm is simpler and the speed is faster than the popular algorithm which has adopted forward-backward method in searching convex hull.Our algorithm is also superior to the traditional algorithm.In particular it is unnecessary to compute the angle,Euclidean distance.Applying the algorithm to seek the convex hull of an arbitrarily distributing planar point set can obtain accurate,results through only addition,subtraction,multiplication and comparision.The method reduces the computing time for of each step therefore it is an optimal algorithm because of its efficiency.
