新型抗弯曲大模场面积光子晶体光纤

Abstract: 研制出一种新型抗弯曲大模场面积石英光子晶体光纤. 利用光子晶体光纤结构设计的灵活性, 通过规划缺陷的位置及空气孔的尺寸, 实现了大模场面积单模及低弯曲损耗特性.应用建立的实际光子晶体光纤特性分析模型, 研究了研制光纤的模式特性和弯曲特性, 在波长1064 nm处, 平直状态下光纤的模场面积可以达到2812 μm2, 基模限制损耗为0.00024 dB/m, 高阶模限制损耗高于1.248 dB/m. 基模和高阶模之间的高传输损耗差, 保证了在获得大模场面积的同时实现单模传输. 弯曲半径和弯曲方向角所带来弯曲损耗变化的研究结果显示, 即使在弯曲半径小到5 cm时, 弯曲损耗也在10-3 dB/m量级以下, 而且在弯曲半径为30 cm时光纤可承受的弯曲方向角范围扩展至-60°–60°. 研制的光纤具有良好的低弯曲损耗特性, 可有效解决非对称结构所带来的光纤弯曲特性对弯曲方向角敏感的问题. 该光纤在高功率光纤激光器、放大器及高功率传输等技术领域具有重要的应用价值.

Abstract: A novel model for light propagation in elliptical-hole photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) is developed in terms of orthogonal function model. A new method for constructing supercell lattice is proposed; with this method the transverse index profile is decomposed into two periodic structures, and the mode field is decomposed using Hermite-Gaussian functions. The propagation constant and the mode field distribution of the PCF can be calculated by recasting the Maxwell equations into on eigenvalue system. With this model, the mode properties including dispersion properties, polarization properties and mode area can be analyzed for circular or elliptical hole PCF.

Abstract: A simplified fluid-mechanics model is developed for the drawing of silica capillaries. Calculations are carried out to predict the influence of the technical parameters on the final geometry of the capillaries. Geometrical collapse is inevitable when drawing capillaries, and active control of the parameters only helps to some extent in tuning the final structures. Drawing experiments were performed to check the theoretical calcualtions. Good agreement was obtained, which certified the validity of the model. The predictions provide valuable practical information for the fabrication of photonic crystal fibers.

Abstract: A novel full vector model is applied to analyze the photonic crystal fibers (PCF). From symmetry analysis of modes of a waveguide, we classify the modes of PCF into nondegenerate or degenerate pairs according to the minimum waveguide sectors and its appropriate boundary conditions. We present the modes of PCF that can be labeled by its step index fiber analogs. It is shown that these modes either exhibit the full waveguide symmetry and nondegenerate or occur in degenerate pairs that support this symmetry only in combination. The doublet of the degenerate pairs in which both have the same symmetry as PCF will be split into two nondegenerate modes.

Abstract: 应用全矢量超格子叠加模型分析了双芯光子晶体光纤(PCF)的模式特征.双芯PCF的基模和二次模分别由偏振方向不同的两个偶模和两个奇模组成,讨论了这四个模式的模式电场奇偶性.基于对双芯PCF模式电场奇偶性的认识,讨论了光纤中的矢量模式干涉问题.分析表明,不同偏振态模式的干涉不会引起芯间的功率转移,双芯PCF的芯间功率耦合是由相同偏振模式的干涉引起的.在相同偏振模式干涉过程中,光功率在两个芯子中呈余弦振荡,光纤的两个芯子一般存在约π/2的相位差.还讨论了两个不同偏振方向的耦合系数与波长的关系.

Abstract: 应用全矢量模型分析类矩形芯光子晶体光纤的色散和偏振特性,讨论了光纤结构参数对光纤特性的影响.研究表明:类矩形芯光子晶体光纤的模式双折射比普通椭圆保偏光纤至少高一个数量级.增大光纤的相对孔径,可获得更高的双折射.零走离点对应的波长也比普通椭圆保偏光纤长,随着孔距的增大,走离曲线将向长波长方向产生移位,零走离点发生红移,零走离点所对应的波长与孔距成正比.零走离点的出现,将有效地抑制一阶偏振模色散.通过调整光纤的结构参数,可以获得灵活的色散特性,在孔距Λ=2μm, 相对孔径d/Λ=03时,在波长155μm附近,获得近400nm的超平坦色散区.该光纤在偏振控制、色散控制和管理方面具有广泛的应用前景.

Abstract: 分析了光子晶体光纤拉制中各工艺参数之间的相互影响,建立了工艺参数与最终光纤结构之间的对应关系.在温度和送料速度的协调控制下,通过调节气压参数可有效控制气孔结构.实验拉制出孔径孔距比分别为0.45和0.8的单模以及高占空比光子晶体光纤.在制备非均匀孔径光子晶体光纤时,仅靠调控工艺参数往往难以拉制出理想结构,本文以一种单偏振单模PCF结构为例,对预制棒结构进行了优化设计.计算表明可由此拉制出满足要求的光子晶体光纤.
Highly Birefringent Honeycomb Photonic Bandgap Fibre

Abstract: A new structure of highly birefringent honeycomb photonic bandgap fibres (PBGFs), including an elliptical air hole in its solid core, is proposed and analysed by using full vectorial plane wave expansion method. From the numerical results it is confirmed that the proposed PBGF has birefringence of the order of 10-3. Moreover, there are two single-polarization single-mode ranges at varying normalized wavelength, in one of which only the slow-axis mode exists, and in the other only the fast-axis mode exists, which has not been achieved in index-guiding photonic crystal fibres so far.

Abstract: Based on a full-vector model, a theoretical study on a kind of high birefringence photonic crystal fibre is presented. Due to introducing air holes of two different sizes into the cladding, twofold rotational symmetry was obtained. We demonstrate the possibility of achieving high birefringence that is at least one order of magnitude higher than that of conventional polarization-maintaining fibres. The dependences of modal birefringence, modal field and differential group delay on the structure parameter of the fibres are discussed in detail. The numerical results are in very good agreement with the experimental results in the literature.
