Abstract: In the present paper, the application of modern hyphenated chromatographic techniques, in particular the high performance liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry, in the quality control of Chinese medicines is discussed based on the recent research progress achieved in our group. Focus is put on the innovative strategies and methodologies for the holistic chemical profiling of Chinese medicines by LC-MS, as well as their application in authentication of raw materials, evaluation of post-harvest handling, discrimination between raw and processed herbs, quality control of water-extracts granules, exploration of new resources for bioactive components, and detection of toxic components.

Abstract: The effects of atomic hydrogen on surface morphology of epitaxial layers grown by molecular beam epitaxy are investigated.AFM pictures show that atomic hydrogen leads to the formation of step bunching on (311)A GaAs surface.The sites distribution of InAs quantum dots (QDs) grown on this step like morphology surfaces is slightly positioned by the steps of the surfaces.All these results give useful experimental references to the site controlled growth of QDs.

Abstract: The levels of R- and S-mephenytoin in human urine were determined by chiral capillary gas chromatography with nitrogen-phosphorus detector. The conditions of the chromatography and detection included a chiral capillary column (Chirasil-Val, 25 m x 0.25 mm i.d., Alltech), column temperature (T) 190 degrees C, injector T 220 degrees C, detector T 240 degrees C, and the flow-rates of 0.85, 3.5 and 120 mL/min for nitrogen, hydrogen and air respectively. Based on the above conditions, the satisfactory separation of R- and S-mephenytoin was gained, and other interference from urine sample was not found. The linear curves for both tested compounds ranged between 12.5 and 2500 microg/L, with a minimum detectable concentration of about 6 microg/L. Because of its simplicity, rapidity, sensitivity and accuracy, this method has been extensively used for testing metabolic ability of S-mephenytoin polymorphic oxidation in the Chinese populations and for the determination of the activity of hepatic drug-metabolizing enzyme CYP2C19 using mephenytoin S/R ratio of the urine samples of subjects as an indicator.

Abstract:
柠檬酸钾是目前预防结石常用的一种药物,研究其在水溶液中的扩散具有重要的理论和指导意义。而其水溶液的热力学性质是研究其扩散性质所必需的基础数据。同时,研究相关的热力学性质,可以获得柠檬酸钾在水中的作用及对结石预防和控制的机制。因此,本文研究了柠檬酸钾加量对其水溶液的密度和粘度的影响,并计算得到表观摩尔体积,为生理过程及医疗作用研究提供基础数据。
Potassium citrate nowadays is a pharmaceutical commonly used to prevent calculus. The research of potassium citrate diffusion in aqueous solutions shows significant theoretical and practical meanings. However, it is necessary to research its thermodynamic property which can provided fundamental data for the whole diffusion properties. Meanwhile, the mechanism of preventing and controlling the calculus and the interaction of potassium citrate and water can be obtained by investigation of thermodynamic property. In this work, the influence of potassium citrate solution concentration on density and viscosity were investigated. Based on the density data, the apparent molar volume was calculated at the same time. The results can be utilized as fundamental data for the future research on the medical effect of potassium citrate.
