Aliocha : de l’exil à la médiation interculturelle par le biais de la poésie

Abstract: Aliocha, the narrator, is a Russian adult exiled in France. He was raised in the French culture, transmitted to him by his grandmother, Charlotte, herself exiled in Russia. It is through her memories, books and other souvenirs contained in her coffer that the narrator “learns” what France is. Those memories allow a constant flow between Aliocha’s childhood, adolescence and adulthood, offering us images of Russia and a France the narrator won’t recognize when getting there. He will always live, whatever its location, between two languages, between two worldviews and two identities that he constantly needs to translate. Rich in his grandmother’s cultural heritage and a privileged translator, Aliocha refugees himself in writing and in the happiness of the cultural mediation.

Abstract: Horia Vintil fictionalizes in his novel, Dieu est né en exil, Ovid’s diary, a Latin writer of the 1st century who, exiled from Rome, finds his freedom in Tomes, a town which is now in the Rumanian territory and it is named Constan a. The empiric author, exiled himself too, imagines the last eight years of Ovid’s life that represented a time of waiting, remaking his faith, renouncing of the gods in favor of God, and even more, a time of finding himself. With his novel, Horia Vintil was both included in and excluded from the French society, continuing thus the condition of the exiled writer.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to explore writer identity in mexican undergraduate students of applied linguistics writing in english. we focused on the participants' use of first person pronouns and the ways in which they conceptualized their identity as authors of their essays. we employed a combination of text analysis and discourse-based interview methodologies. findings indicate that participants that made ample use of first person pronouns employed them to present personal experiences rather than to project a strong authorial self. by contrast, those who made little use of first person pronouns seemed to project stronger authorial selves by employing a broader range of stylistic choices. the use of first person pronouns is not essential in the development of strong authorial selves. higher education should provide better opportunities and resources for students to learn how to project a strong authorial presence in the academic texts they write in english.
The negotiation of writer identity in engineering faculty - writing consultant collaborations

Abstract: Negotiating faculty-writing consultant collaborations in engineering contexts can be challenging when the writing consultant originates in the humanities. The author found that one of the sites of negotiation in the formation of working relationships is that of writer identity, and disciplinary writer identity in particular. In order to confirm her experiential knowledge, the author interviewed her faculty collaborators to further investigate their attitudes and experiences about writing. Analysis of two excerpts of these interviews makes visible "clashes" between the faculty engineers' and the writing consultant's autobiographical and disciplinary writer identities. Implications of the role of writer identity in faculty-writing consultant collaborations include considering the value of extending this negotiation explicitly to students and the question of how writing curriculum can explicitly engage students in the formation of positive disciplinary writer identities

Abstract: Dossier/Issue : 3 - Enrique Vila-Matas: miroirs de la réalité — In discussing examples taken from the novel París no se acaba nunca and the short story entitled "Iluminado" in Exploradores del abismo, this article explores the way in which a particular password ("Savannakhet" or "Paraguay") enables Enrique Vila-Matas to define and cultivate his own identity, an identity constitutive of both the writer and the living man. Whether by entering into an ironical democratic era within the confines of a chambre de bonne at Marguerite Duras’ home in Paris, or by leaving childhood behind amongst the shadows of a Paseo in Barcelona, the process remains the same : The face of reality reveals itself through the mask of quotation. — Cet article évoque, à travers deux exemples tirés du roman París no se acaba nunca et de la nouvelle intitulée Iluminado dans Exploradores del abismo, la fa on dont un mot de passe ( Savannakhet ou Paraguay ) permet à Enrique Vila-Matas de définir et exercer une identité propre, constitutive à la fois de l’écrivain et de l’homme vivant. Clement Danes from 1937 onwards till his retirement in 1971. His mother, Keye, also taught French. His elder brother, Jonathan is now a Professor of Philosophy in Geneva.He married Pat Kavanagh in 1979, and now lives with her in North London.

The largest second class writer: Carpeaux’s critique controversy about Mann

Abstract: This article examines Otto Maria Carpeaux’s polemic view of Thomas Mann literary work. In his book, A Cinza do Purgatório, Carpeaux defines him as “the greatest writer of second order”, at the same time as he indicates him as an admirable tragic character. Such statement, from a careless point of view, seems to be heavy, negative criticism. It is, however, about a reinterpretation of Mann’s role as a public person. Some scholars affirm that Carpeaux, as time passed, above all after the publication of Doctor Faust, changed his mind. We defend a contrary thesis: Carpeaux stuck to his early conviction.

Abstract: Mustafa Kutlu who started his art life with designs and stories he published at Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket is one of the outstanding story writers of recent Turkish literature. Mustafa Kutlu has taken part in the history of Turkish literature he deserved with the help of thematical style, new forms and stylistic trials. Having written considering the Classical Eastern Style, Kutlu has started a long story period just after the work he published in 2000 named Uzun Hikaye and has published long stories continually. In this paper, we are going to analyze Uzun Hikaye which is the first work of the writer in his long story period. Uzun Hikaye is a long story telling the incidents immigrant Ali and his son experienced in the context of migration as a notion and in a nostalgical atmosphere. The point which attracts the attention in Uzun Hikaye is its being in an autobiographical nature. The incidents told in Uzun Hikaye which was written with a quite fluent language and show parallelism with some of the writer experienced and the characters he met in his life.The work of the writer mentioned in our paper is going to be analyzed according to plot, characters, time, setting, language and style together with reflections to the work in terms of writer and realization.
