Abstract: a comprehensive and up to date summary of the literature on the helminth parasites of lizards and amphisbaenians from south america is herein presented. one-hundred eighteen lizard species from twelve countries were reported in the literature harboring a total of 155 helminth species, being none acanthocephalans, 15 cestodes, 20 trematodes and 111 nematodes. of these, one record was from chile and french guiana, three from colombia, three from uruguay, eight from bolivia, nine from surinam, 13 from paraguay, 12 from venezuela, 27 from ecuador, 17 from argentina, 39 from peru and 103 from brazil. the present list provides host, geographical distribution (with the respective biome, when possible), site of infection and references from the parasites. a systematic parasite-host list is also provided.

Boletín chileno de parasitología , 2000, DOI: 10.4067/S0365-94022000000300014
Abstract: the aim of this study was to report some external morphological features of duboisiella proloba baer, 1938. the parasites were collected during necropsy from the small intestine of didelphis albiventris hunted in its native environment near corrientes city, argentina. collected specimens of duboisiella proloba were observed by light microscopy in order to be classified. later the parasites were put into a 3% glutaraldehyde solution, dehydrated, dried by critical point, assembled, metalized, observed and photographed with a sem. this is the first description of some external morphologic features of this species carried out by sem in argentina
Plagiorchis vicentei. sp.n. (Trematoda, Plagiorchiidae) a new trematode from Hemidactylus mabouia (Moreau de Jonnès) (Lacertilia, Gekkonidae)
Rodrigues, Henrique de Oliveira;
Revista Brasileira de Zoologia , 1994, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81751994000400011
Abstract: plagiorchis vicentei, sp.n. is described from the small intestine of the lizard, hemidactylus mabouia (moreau de jonnès, 1818), from teresópolis, rio de janeiro, brasil. the new species differs from p. didelphidis (parona, 1896) by the smaller size of body, by the presence of spinous tegument and ventral sucker smaller than oral sucker; from p. parumbursaitus freitas & dobbin jr., 1961 by the smaller size of body and suckers and the bigger size of eggs; from p. rangeli artigas & zerpa, 1961 by the bigger size of suckers and eggs; and front p. freitasi vicente, 1978 by the smaller size of body, by the bigger size of eggs and by the different position of gonads that in the new species are close to the ventral sucker.
PRESENCIA DE Phylophthalmus sp. (TREMATODA: PHILOPHTHALMIDAE) EN GALLINAS CRIADAS EN TRASPATIO
Rojas,P.Y; Rocío,Larramendy; Sánchez,I.Y; Mena,R.R; Neyra,R.D;
Revista de Salud Animal , 2009,
Abstract: the presence of the genus philophthalmus has been identify for first time in cuba from the physical examination of a semi rustic fowl in a guantanamo backyard. the animal was clinically explored and showed hyperemia on conjunctival and eyelid mucosa of both eyes together with the presence of 13 trematodes which were fixed in formalin-alcohol solution for morphometrical studies under stereoscope. the parasites showed morphometric characteristics compatible with philophthalmus sp. one of the helminth were macerated and eggs similar to those described for this genus were observed. this finding is the first notification of the agent in birds in cuba.
Digenea trematodes in fish of the North Adriatic Sea
Vesna PARADI?NIK,Branko RADUJKOVI?
Acta Adriatica , 2007,
Abstract: The paper gives an overview of trematodes that have been isolated from the north Adriatic Sea , during a 10-year research program. A total of 63 marine fish species of pelagic and benthic of the classes Chondrichthyes and Osteichthyes were analyzed. We found that 21 fish species ted digenean trematodes (33.33% prevalence), and 12 fish species are reported as hosts for the t time. During our research, 63 species of fish (total of 2659 fish) were examined and 25.16 % e found invaded by endohelminths, belonging to 22 digeneans species.

REDESCRIPCION DE LIMATULOIDES lIMATULUS (BRAUM) DUBPIS, 1964 (TREMATODA, LECITHODENFRIIDAE), UN PARASITO DE TADARIDA BRASILENSIS (GEOF.) (CHIROPTERA, MOLOSSIDAE) DE ARGENTINA
Lunaschi,Lía I.;
Gayana (Concepción) , 2004, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-65382004000100011
Abstract: limatuloides limatulus (braun 1900) dubois 1964 (trematoda, lecithodendriidae) is redescribed on the basis of an adult specimen obtained from the intestine of tadarida brasiliensis geof. (chiroptera: molossidae) from isla talavera, buenos aires province, argentina. braun's (1900) original description is brief and it was based on only one specimen collected from the intestine of a non identified molossus species captured at ipanema, brasil. taking into account that the type material is lost and that the present is the second record of l. limatulus after the original description, the detailed morphological study hare presented, allowed a better characterization of this species. the finding of l. limatulus parasitizing t. brasiliensis represents a new host record and a considerable enlargement of the geographical range for the especies

Abstract: copulation in opisthogonimus fonsecai ruiz & le?o, 1942 (trematoda, digenea, plagiorchiidae), parasite of bothrops moojeni hoge, 1966 (serpentes, viperiade), was reported. data on the histology of the cirrus and metraterm of the copulants were presented. morphology of the cirrus was also examined by scanning electron microscopy.
Halipegus dubius Klein, 1905 (Trematoda, Hemiuridae): a redescription, with notes on the working of the ovarian complex
Paraense, W. Lobato;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1992, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761992000500035
Abstract: a redescription of halipegus dubius klein, 1905, of brazilian frogs leptodactylus pentadactylus and l. ocellatus, is presented. the parasite was found exclusively in the buccal cavity, in number varying from 1 (in most instances) to 3, and exceptionally 25 (one instance). morphological data were based on 40 whole-mounted specimens and 4 serially sectioned ones. larval development takes place in planorbid snails (biomphalaria glabrata and b. tenagophila) and in an undetermined species of cyclops. working of the ovarian complex was followed by microscopical observation of life specimens. constrating with the similarity of the four american species of halipegus currently recognized as valid, they can be easily separated by the characters of their cercariae.
